Last weekend, I started having pretty significant pain in one of my molars. Painful to the touch, can't bite down on it, sometimes throbbing. I also felt some minor swelling under my jaw on the right side, but not a lot.
No fever. On Monday (yesterday), I saw my dentist. He took x-rays and examined it, but said he didn't see any abscess or infection.
Its originating in a crown that Ive had for more than 10 years and now its causing me earache and tender/swollen glands under my left jaw. Im in agony and Im popping pills like mad! This only numbs the pain slightly and wears off quite quickly. Ive also got a swollen left side of my face and a lump on my gum.
My moms dog has a big huge bump under her jaw and we can't seem to find out what it is. She doesn't eat as much and she isn't so playful we are worried if it might be cancer or a spider bite we do not know what to do.
(I am having trouble gaining weight so puking for a whole week straight would NOT BE GOOD) The swelling and pain went away for a while but now, I am about 36 weeks pregnant and the swelling is back under my jaw and its much worse. My lower jaw is visibly swollen and there is a hard lump under there. WHAT CAN I DO?
I was put on antibiotics, but the abscess moved into my cheek and my face became huge. My Endo. was unable to drain the abscess because of where it was located (under my cheek muscle), but went ahead and did the re-do root canal anyway after I was on antibiotics for four days. Presently, he cleaned out the old roots that were missed, but no pus or other type of discharge was cleaned out (I watched the whole thing). He put "medicine" into the roots and put on a temporary seal.
But the main one that is concerning me now is one that I recently noticed on his bottom jaw - on the bone it seems. I checked his teeth, they are fine, no abscess that I can see. He eats like a horse and plays as usual. I have him on Blue Wilderness Salmon Recipe dog food. Should I be concerned and take him to the vet?
I have horrible teeth I know. u name the dental problem I probably have it. what has been bugging me for weeks is my left jaw. it's swollen it hurts if u run your hands along both my cheeks there is a very noticable bump and the left side and u can feel the swelling inside too. My best guess is bad infection from really bad abscess but I'm not a dentist. I have insurance but only medicaid. I'm kinda poor. Where do i begin to fix my teeth ?
Over a year ago I noticed a lump in my jaw, under where the tooth was. But I never really had a toothache, maybe just a couple times and very short lived, like a couple hours. Is that "normal"?
I had the tooth pulled yesterday. The dentist said that now that the tooth is gone, the lump will go away too. It's way too swollen and painful to touch right now, but how long should it take for the lump to go away? I'm also on Penicillin V K, for 8 days now.

Had an incidental left submandibular lympt node 1.5 cm (nodule) found under left jaw - after ultransound. ENT doctor syas its palpable though. I orignally saw ENT for a boil abscess on right mandible rear section of lower right jaw as it wasn't clearing - this ocurred after implant placement and where the novacaine was injected and like a leaky roof bacteria went back there - hurt until it started draining. Some implants didn't take and threfore were removed and more bone was put in.
just wanted to update and let you know that i ended up going to the er on easter morning. my jaw had swollen so bad that i couldn't shut my mouth. the swelling had started on the inside of my jaw as well as the outside. it got so sore that i couldn't even stand for an ice pack to touch my jaw. they did a ct and found out that it was an abscess. it was 1 inch by 3/8 inch big. they gave me iv rocephin and drained the abscess.
m a work it makes me sleepy) and the pain from my tooth abscess has gotton worse and now the swelling is spreding and my throat hurts. The pain from the tooth abscess has spred from the far left cornor of my jaw to my ear and even under my chin. I can't see a denist till next week and this is only getting worse. I already went to the er that is how i got these meds. The clidamycin is also making me very sick to my stomic.
I had a 2 fillings performed on an upper tooth on about a little over a month ago. Before I went in for the filling, I'd been having terrible tooth pain and had developed an abscess on the gum above that tooth. At the same time, I was experiencing a pressure/pulling sensation down my jaw, around my ear and down my neck. I was first given a round of antibiotics, and the pain, abscess and pressure/pulling sensation all went away.
Okay, so I found out that it was an early stage abscess. I've had the first stage root canal done. Meaning the dentist just drilled out the pulp and filled it with temp filling. He said my abscess should go away by itself. It's been a week and the abscess has not gone down at all. Should I be worried? I have another appointment in a few days.

I had a cracked tooth,I waited and put off something being done about it,and it became abscess,a pocket formed underneath it and also my jaw swelled up an I believe became infected, I went to the doctor, they numbed and drained the pocket,and gave me 2 antibiotics and a pain med, I'm no longer in pain (the cracked tooth is a little loose) but its been going on 3 days of antis and no change has occurred, is that normal? should I go back to the doctor?
My almost 20 year old calico cat has developed a jaw abscess that has broken through the skin to drain. I know from reading the forum this is VERY bad and I can't afford to bring her to the vet. She is still eating and otherwise acting quite normally but I am embarrassed to say I didn't notice that she developed this condition until I felt the scab under her chin. Then I noticed how distorted that side of her jaw has become. Life has been really hectic lately.
swelling is now going under her jaw and into the neck. Is the antibotics not working? Would it be of benifit to bring her to the Er? She is in massive pain and can eat nothing. She can barely open her mouth. These two back teeth the dentist has worked on before. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
