Avatar n tn hI, my son now 15 underwent treatment and a bone marrow transplant for Neouroblastoma at the age of four. He's been on growth hormone treatment for 3 years now but with no result. He's only 144cm tall and his endocrinologist says there's no hope because his bones have finished growing and the only suggestion is the bone stretching surgery. Can anyone suggest anything else?
Avatar f tn Hormone therapy is really not reccomended after batteling cancer,,,ask your Dr his opinion of a herbal called Black Kosch it is known to be good for hot flashes do NOT take it without his permission, I have no idea if it is safe for you or not.
Avatar f tn s good that they found a cause and can look at treatment options. Many couples never find out the cause of infertility. Good luck to you and keep us posted!
Avatar f tn My breast cancer treatment will be radiation treatment for a month or so, and I will have to take hormone therapy (for example, tamoxifin) for 5 years. I have hep c and was planning to treat with interferon and ribavirin, and with the new PI telaprevir or boceprevir - as soon as either one is available. Does anyone know if there will be any added issues that I should be aware of when getting the hep c treatment while on hormone therapy? Thanks.
Avatar n tn The decisions about further treatment will take into account what treatment she has had in the past, her overall health, the characteristics of the cancer. There is not one specific regimen used to treat hormone receptor negative and HER2 negative breast cancer. Treatments that would not be used are the hormone therapies that would be used to treat hormone receptive cancers or medications like Herceptin or lapatinib which target the HER2 receptor.
Avatar n tn Do not feel overwhelmed, this is good news, she has a chance for treatment, the mri is done on all of my patients before treatment is started, the best websites to go over gh include magicfoundation.org and human growth foundation Do NOT worry about a brain tumor, we want to look at the structure of the pituitary in all of our kids in order to know the reason that they do not make enough gh, she will do well with treatment so talk about it with your peds endo and get going!
Avatar n tn and shows your recurrence/mortality rates based on various treatment options. I think this may help you feel more secure in your treatment options! Best of luck to you!
Avatar n tn recently I have been back and to to the doctors for anxiety, something I have battled with all my life. I have now been put on sertraline a treatment for depression that hasn't helped and I an now weaning myself off. I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period.
Avatar n tn One possibility is that you have had a chronic infection that colonized your thyroid gland and caused the thyroid-related problems. Without treatment these can cause relapsing and remising conditions over time, but they usually cause other signs and symptoms as well, such as fatigue, brain fog and cognition problems, respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions, arthritis-like conditions, etc. (You can see a long list of these on our website, www.immed.org under signs and symptoms). Avatar m tn researchers generally agree that treatment with human growth hormone is safe and effective. In 1985, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a biosynthetic growth hormone http://www.hgfound.org/pub_growth.
Avatar m tn rumpled is right -- TSH is a pituitary hormone and is not indicative of what the thyroid is really doing. My TSH stays at less than 0.01, but my Free T3 and Free T4 levels are good and most of my symptoms have been alleviated, so I know I'm not hyper; however, my former doctor was dosing me based only on TSH and kept me sick for many months before I finally got a doctor to test my FT3 and FT4. Have you had antibody tests? Do you know if you Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
Avatar m tn We are think about waiting until december to do the radioactive iodine treatment. Is that ok? From what we are told waiting as long as she is on the hormone pills will be ok.
Avatar f tn (through his nurse) about hormone blocker pills he says no , i have asked him for my pro/est. receptor sites results from my (6 lb. tumor) surgery, 11/01/05 he says there was no positive results, I just finished 6 rounds of doxil and my ca125 is 108 , i asked him whats the next plan he says i need to come in for a talk , i said i need to drive 3 hours for a talk, his nurse promised he would call me to answer some questions about whats next he never called. what do you think ?? my dr.
Avatar m tn Recommended medical treatments are have been largely unsuccessful in the control of my issues, other than treating the symptoms. Oral steroids (prednisone) are the most effective treatment, and it cures almost all of my symptoms, but the relief is short lived as I taper off the dosage. Over the past two to three years symptoms also include severe migraine headaches, joint pain, and sleep disorders. Now I am 44 years old.
Avatar m tn I will say that when a cancer is found to be ER/PR positive and Her2 positive then the standard is Hormone therapy plus Herceptin administration as part of the treatment plan. I do think this is a matter between the pt. and her Oncologist. Regards ....
532636 tn?1213128073 They said the spectrum is too wide and that I am on birth control so the results will not come out right. I ordered a hormone test from ZRT labs and the results came back that several of my hormones were low. The gynecologists said that is probably becasue I was on the pill and it affected the results. But everyone who knows me and touches me says that I am so hot it is unbelievable. I sweat excessively and I feel a little irritable. It is not stress or nerves. I am positive it is hormones.
Avatar m tn t think that it will hurt to wait a few months. BUT growth hormone has been very beneficial as part of my treatment plan for me. But no, I would not want to take it if it would add a huge risk of recurrence. If it were to add a small risk (say 5%), it would be worth the benefit for me as it adds so much to my quality of life, particularly to my mood.
Avatar f tn Doctor prescribed her to take Thyronorm-50 (Synthetic hormone-thyroxine) on daily basis. As told, dosage will be adjusted , if required, after another test after 8 weeks of medication. My question is can i start, medicine as prescribed . Can medicine has any side effects considering her age.can we stop taking medicines once the repeated test becomes normal in future.
Avatar m tn m not considering testosterone treatment for my baby but I know that an imbalance of hormones can effect the body in many ways, not just sexuality. My dog seemed healthy when I was feeding him standard store bought dog food. When I changed over to a high quality organic dog food I was simply looking out for him in the long run. It's the same kind of thinking with hormone levels. Im just looking out for him.
2006473 tn?1422033301 I recently went to the Gyno because I have had not stop spotting for the past few months and at first I thought it was just stress because things had been really stressful. However, now I have to go through a whole bunch of tests and have doctors explain to me a million things that he isn't even sure if I have and I am stressed out even more just thinking about it. My docotr thinks my hormones are most likely off and I am probably not ovulating.
Avatar f tn Hi, Jacque, I hope you have an oncologist planning your chemo and you should definitely consult with him/her regarding the protocol. You should know exactly what you're getting, when and for how long, what it's expected to do and any common side effects. I'm a firm believer in " the more knowledge, the better" and think that it's important to be an aware patient, not just a passive recipient of treatment.
Avatar f tn Is there any natural treatment for hypo? I will talk to my endo next week. However, I am pregnant so any info on natural treatment would be great. THANKS!
500453 tn?1210676097 I've been looking for a way to keep track of my current medical treatment. I have a prolactin secreting pituitary tumor which is responding to treatment. While my endocrinologist is very good at keeping me informed with test results in writing, I'd like a way to see the progress at a glance, without having to dig through a file. I don't know if some form of MRI tracker would be possible as well, to keep track of the tumor size.
