Common Questions and Answers about Hormone therapy report

hormone

Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar f tn I am 74 years old and have been on Hormone Therapy for 24 years. My new doctor had advised me that she will not continue my prescription because she in uncomfortable to prescribe to a woman over 65 years of age. I think that is my decision to make.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 49 in May, 2007 with Stage II, 3 nodes positive. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 4 rounds of Taxol followed by 33 rounds of radiation. My doctor now wants to put me on hormone therapy. I am premenopausal but haven't gotten my period since July due to chemo. She won't put me on Tamoxifin because of a past history of TIA several years ago. She said I would be at too high a risk for stroke on it.
Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
Avatar m tn Hi sorry hormone therapy will not help at all , there are no pills or cream to make your penis any bigger , take care ,
Avatar f tn I am definitely going to show my saliva report to another hormone specialist and will get the cream remixed elsewhere and try that. Still can't seem to find out if taking these could raise the blood pressure levels. Thanks for comments.
Avatar n tn After surgery there will no doubt be prescribed a Hormone Therapy (Tamoxifen, etc.) for 5 or more years. Cerb-2 is a gene (as is Her2) and since this is negative there would be no need for a specific treatment regarding this result. The seriousness of this individual case will depend upon the treatment prescribed and the response of the cancer to this treatment. In addition to surgery there will I'm sure be Chemotherapy and Radiation plus the above mentioned Hormone Therapy.
Avatar f tn Estrogen receptors and Progesterone receptors are often lumped into one category and if positive place the breast cancer into the category of hormone receptor positive breast cancer. This means that hormone therapy (the exact drug depends on the individual situation) will likely be recommended as part of the treatment plan. A Her-2 rating of 2+ suggests that the testing for this protein was done with a method called immunohistochemistry.
Avatar n tn s plenty of confusion about hormone replacement therapy, which is now commonly called hormone therapy. The truth is that hormone therapy is not a magical cure , but it's still the most effective treatment for unpleasant menopausal symptoms for most women. Estrogen remains the most effective treatment for relief of troublesome menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It can also ease vaginal symptoms of menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning and discomfort with intercourse.
Avatar m tn These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency. Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar n tn But from what you have posted - i would like to suggest a few things - you should talk to your oncologist about hormone therapy and whether it would help in your mother's case - especially because the hormone receptor status is positive. Also, talk about the chemotherapy and radiotherapy being planned and about the possible side effects. Let us know about how your mother is doing and also about what your doctor advises. Regards.
Avatar f tn Many factors will be considered in addition to your Pathology report. Hormone Therapy is pretty much a given with the hormone positive finding. Your Oncologist will formulate a plan geared specifically to your particular situation which means it could be either 2 or possibly all 3 of the modalities you mentioned. Regards ....
Avatar m tn Radiation is often advised and then, depending on the Pathology report, Hormone therapy may be also recommended. If the Hormone testing (ER/PR) is positive then Tamoxifen could be advised for 5 years. Chemotherapy is only used when a diagnosis of "true" Cancer is made. ADH is sometimes referred to as "pre-cancerous" due to the fact that it does increase one's risk of developing breast cancer in the future. Regards ....
Avatar f tn Has anybody tried bio identical hormone therapy for Depression? I've heard so much about it. I heard it helps you alot with menopause, depression and with other issues. They check your hormones and then depending how your test comes out they insert some pellets into your hip. I'm looking into doing it.
