A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.

Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.

48yr old male on hormone replacement therapy for over 10yrs. Being seen for extreme fatigue, loss of concentration, recent ED issues. Blood test exceptions show higher RBC & higher Fe levels as well as low FreeT levels at end of injection cycle. Dr. is considering shortening time between injections from 10 to 7 days or raising dosage from 0.5cc to 0.7cc but concerned about a possible increase to RBC count.

I am thinking about having a hysterectomy because of terrible endemetriosis, I am 47 and have a history of breast cancer, so I cannot get any hormone replacement therapy. But i have read that maybe it won't help. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Also, after reading the difference of being treated with pharmaceutial hormone replacement therapy vs. bio-idenitical hormone replacement therapy. Hi, you should see a doctor that specializes in hormone therapy, and have a complete hormone panel done.They should be able to guide you on how to proceed. I have premature ovarian failure because of undiagnosed hypothyroidism. There are progesterone creams over the counter you can use day 14 to 26, but in your case I strongly advise you to see a doctor to guide you, and to tell you honestly how good are your chances. Progesterone helps sustain the pregnancy not just help you conceive.

I have read that estrogen with out Progesterone, is not safe. I am talking about bio-identical hormone therapy, which is very safe, you can get the bio-identical progesterone cream at any health food store. I would sure do this if you plan on taking any kind of "synthetic" Estrogen.
