Avatar n tn I was diagnosed at age 49 in May, 2007 with Stage II, 3 nodes positive. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 4 rounds of Taxol followed by 33 rounds of radiation. My doctor now wants to put me on hormone therapy. I am premenopausal but haven't gotten my period since July due to chemo. She won't put me on Tamoxifin because of a past history of TIA several years ago. She said I would be at too high a risk for stroke on it.
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar f tn Has anybody tried bio identical hormone therapy for Depression? I've heard so much about it. I heard it helps you alot with menopause, depression and with other issues. They check your hormones and then depending how your test comes out they insert some pellets into your hip. I'm looking into doing it.
Avatar m tn Depending on your age your testosterone may be really low. Remember the "normal range" also is that for a sixty year old and what is normal for a sixty year old isn't for say a 24 year old. Gynecomastia? Erectile problems? Feel well? If you are only doing it for muscle gain you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Also your bones could suffer and you are at higher risk for other things like heart disease, diabetes............. So muscle mass should be the last thing on your mind.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar f tn These menopausal symptoms can also be the result of chemotherapy, ovarian ablation, and hormone therapy. Women can get relief from these symptoms by opting for Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women. It helps in balancing the estrogen and progesterone levels.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes clear. After surgery had mammosite. Should I do hormone therapy? I also had ovarian cancer 2 yrs. ago. Stage 1A also. Doing well here. Took chemo for OV. and left me with aching legs and joints. The hormone therapy has so many side affects. The drugs suggested for me are Arimidex or Raloxifene. Is there anyone that does not take hormone therapy and is still doing well with no recurrance?
Avatar n tn s plenty of confusion about hormone replacement therapy, which is now commonly called hormone therapy. The truth is that hormone therapy is not a magical cure , but it's still the most effective treatment for unpleasant menopausal symptoms for most women. Estrogen remains the most effective treatment for relief of troublesome menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It can also ease vaginal symptoms of menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning and discomfort with intercourse.
Avatar m tn She is told it has to be removed and on hormone replacement therapy the rest of her life but is told that the hormone therapy will be dangerous for her due to the high risk of blood clots. Is there an alternative therapy she can take or alternative to removal of the ovary or way to just treat the cyst?
Avatar f tn told me today that my FSH counts were very low 82, that is when she suggested the ScottoPelle Hormone Therapy. It cost $300 dollars and last 3 to 6 months, insurance does not cover it. Avatar f tn Hi - I just had labs: TSH = 1.42, T4 Free=0.9, and T3=3.2. These are completely in normal range. My TPA is 81 which is high (range is less than 35). I take a bioidentical hormone combo of T3/T4 compounded for me. Shouldn't this take my TPA levels into the normal range? I feel ok, though my hair is falling out in the shower, and am gaining weight. Then again, I am 49 so it could be menopause. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago, but do not take progesterone or estrogen.
Avatar f tn my period is crazy it comes when it wants light, heavy twice a month since im having so much dizziness could this be a result of menopause?
691001 tn?1227458552 The cells that form this type of tumor are responsible for producing hormones..especially the hormone seratonin. Even though I have been on hormone therapy for years..I've not been able to breakthrough regarding several symptoms. This type of tumor also produces weird symptoms. I'm encouraged thinking that perhaps the removal of this tumor will bring some relief. I encourage all ladies not to put off getting a colonoscopy!

1445110 tn?1388209711 I am afraid and would like an opinion as to what to do. My doctor did recommend stronger hormone therapy for three months and repeat the biopsy. Or, up to me if I want a partial hysterectomy. Thank you for any opinion.
Avatar f tn My oncologist said I could wait a bit for the surgery if I wanted to get a bit closer to menopause to try to shorten the possible time on hormone supplements (if needed). That discussion was about 8 months ago. I am leaning towards getting the surgery this summer. I am concerned about going into menopause, possible weight gain, emotional changes, and risks with hormone supplements...... However, I'm more concerned about cancer!

Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
