Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar m tn Hi sorry hormone therapy will not help at all , there are no pills or cream to make your penis any bigger , take care ,
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar f tn If you're taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) only for hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia, you may want to consider stopping the HRT. The symptoms you listed occur at the onset of menopause and go away over time. Long-term use of HRT is often used if you have or are at risk for osteoporosis. Discuss this option with your physician, if you have osteoporosis there are other medications to treat it.
Avatar m tn These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency. Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
Avatar m tn Depending on your age your testosterone may be really low. Remember the "normal range" also is that for a sixty year old and what is normal for a sixty year old isn't for say a 24 year old. Gynecomastia? Erectile problems? Feel well? If you are only doing it for muscle gain you are doing it for the wrong reasons. Also your bones could suffer and you are at higher risk for other things like heart disease, diabetes............. So muscle mass should be the last thing on your mind.

1319991 tn?1274357816 48yr old male on hormone replacement therapy for over 10yrs. Being seen for extreme fatigue, loss of concentration, recent ED issues. Blood test exceptions show higher RBC & higher Fe levels as well as low FreeT levels at end of injection cycle. Dr. is considering shortening time between injections from 10 to 7 days or raising dosage from 0.5cc to 0.7cc but concerned about a possible increase to RBC count.
Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar f tn Hi, TSH alone is not a good indicator of thyroid function / thyroid hormone levels in the blood. It is a pituitary hormone and doesn't directly let you know your thyroid hormone levels. Sometimes TSH doesn't match with the actual levels, and you need some additional testing. Have you had your FT3 and FT4 checked? These are the actual thyroid hormone levels in your system. If not, please get them checked, if so, please post the results and the reference ranges.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Also, if I could get some feedback on what my friends here think about such. Also, after reading the difference of being treated with pharmaceutial hormone replacement therapy vs. bio-idenitical hormone replacement therapy. I'm seriously thinking of going with the latter of the two. Is anyone receiving bio-idenitical hormone replacement? if so, is it working. Thank you for your feedback.
484508 tn?1290010544 I had been on Androgel for low testosterone, but it did nothing, so I started testosterone therapy replacement using pellets, a newer procedure. I am 65. After 7 days, I was hit with overwhelming anxiety, panic, the yawns. Today it is a bit better- Today is day 8. I had no idea that testosterone replacement could cause anxiety. I took the stuff because I had anxiety, that Celexa had done a tremendous job of helping. I had to take a Klonopin last night because I was so anxious.

Avatar n tn s plenty of confusion about hormone replacement therapy, which is now commonly called hormone therapy. The truth is that hormone therapy is not a magical cure , but it's still the most effective treatment for unpleasant menopausal symptoms for most women. Estrogen remains the most effective treatment for relief of troublesome menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. It can also ease vaginal symptoms of menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning and discomfort with intercourse.
Avatar f tn I told the nurse that I wanted to find another doctor because the staff was difficult to get along with. I take Hormone Replacement Therapy. Avatar n tn thyroxine (T4), triiodothyronine (T3), and calcitonin. Why are patients who have thyroidectomies only prescribed replacement therapy for thyroxine? I would think that if the body use to produce the other two hormones, they are important as well. This discussion is related to Thyroidectomy.
