Common Questions and Answers about Hormone replacement premarin

hormone

718868 tn?1230730029 I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle. I would go back to my doc, get your hormone levels checked and demand to be put on one of the safer replacements. i don't mean to sound rude, but premarin is not a great replacement. It is made from the urine of pregnant mares (horses). They have different make ups than us humans.
Avatar m tn After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
1367840 tn?1278194075 Belle only your Dr can advise you of that, if you are to remain on hormone replacement..
Avatar n tn I would like to get off Premarin and take a natural hormone replacement, or should I stay on the Premarin. What do you think about that and just how do I do that? I know I shouldn't just quit taking it suddenly.
880900 tn?1467270141 Conjugated estrogen is an estrogen replacement hormone used for the management of menopausal symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding (spotting), hot flashes, sweating, and chills. It is also used by women to prevent and treat osteoporosis, in cases where non-estrogen medications have already been considered. It is used to replace estrogen hormones in situations where the body can no longer produce estrogen.
Avatar f tn also have been CL here for quite some time, kearned much from others experiences, I can say with 100 % certainty that I personally think premarin is the WORST choice for hormone replacement. Could not begin to tell you how many have reported same as you. Premarin is made from urine of a pregnant horse. Bio-identical hormones are newer, safer and can be tailor adjusted for your own personal anatomy. I use Vivelle its a patch I only need estrogen for now, many need a combo.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about this specific issue, and ask (if you will be on hormone replacement therapy) about being on estrogen in a form like estrace.
8725523 tn?1399590462 I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with either Osphena or Premarin vagnal cream? I had a total hysterectomy at 28yrs old and have been taking hormone replacement ever since. I am now 41. I suffer from numerous migraines a month and am concerned about taking the oral option for fear of increased migraines d/t the estrogen.
Avatar f tn I am going to have a total laparoscopic hysterectomy (uterus and ovaries) in about 2 weeks. 1) How long will I spend in the hospital? 2) What are the tricky tasks around the house that I might do out of habit, but really shouldn't? I'm guessing laundry and loading/unloading dishwasher...what else? 3) How soon after surgery do women start on hormone replacement? Thank you!
Avatar n tn 1mg clonodine 2x daily), hormone replacement (premarin 1.25), anit-depressant (150xl Wellbutrin), sleep-aid (Ambien) and Prevacid?
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar n tn Everything is great except I have no sex drive. Sex ranks up there with cooking and cleaning. I am on hormone replacement with testostirone. That does not help. It is not painfull just not something that intrest me in the least. My husband is not happy. He tries to understand but he is man. Anybody got an idea?
Avatar f tn Do I need to continue taking Premarin .0625 or can I discontinue since I am past meopause age.
Avatar f tn Are you using any other hormone replacement therapy (like for menopause)? Has your physician taken a look inside since you've been using the estrogen? Was this a urogyn who did the procedure or was it a gynecologist?
Avatar f tn After answering the question what type of hormone replacement is best? many times I stick by my answer Bio-Identical,,,big difference...Premarin is an older form of estrogen it is truely made form the urine of a horse..Please read up on do searches on " bio-identical hormones" ask your doctor his or her opinion on your next visit...or call for a sooner appointment if concerned....
405614 tn?1329144114 So, it could be not the Premarin, since I take that every month, and the premarin cream I've added isn't a large amount. Are you saying that it could be related to my period itself, and the placebo pills, even adding the Premarin? Hmm, but that's monthly, too. Or, it may be the sinus issue acting up again, or just something that can't be named.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar f tn After weighing pros and cons of hormone replacement for me, all doctors have said to continue meds. Also said that I won't have to go through symptoms of menopause. Next test will be ultrasound of stomach. For the last month, maybe longer I've had painful symptoms of gallstones. I will tell my doctor about them, next appointment. Could gall bladder be the reason for all my symptoms for so many months? I will discuss CFS with Dr. again.
Avatar n tn Did you have a complete hysterectomy, including the cervix and uterus along with your ovaries? I have to say that I'm glad to hear your off the Premarin. I would not recommend that med, that's only my opinion. Yes, many of us that have hysterectomies can have the symptoms your having. Since you did have cervical cancer your Gynecologist may not want to put you back on hormone replacement therapy. Celexa can be a good med for some people, others can't tolerate it.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hormone therapy is really not reccomended after batteling cancer,,,ask your Dr his opinion of a herbal called Black Kosch it is known to be good for hot flashes do NOT take it without his permission, I have no idea if it is safe for you or not.
Avatar m tn Do you need hormone replacement after ovary removal in a 63 y.o. post-menopausal women?
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
