I had a complete hysterectomy 5 1/2 years ago at the age of 35 for a borderline serous tumor in one of my ovaries. I have been on the vivelle dot .1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up.

The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?

Does anyone know of any other type of hormone I should ask my physician about, as I am getting very weary of being this age and unable to do very much from my body being so tired and weary. Thank you for your time.

I advise that you read up on bio-identical hormones, they come in may forms such as creames, mist sprays, pills, I personally found the patch to be the best method for me, very easy to use, and I think ( just my opinion) that the patch deliveres the most acurate does, ( except pills) Ive never been convinced mists or creams could be dosed properly. Or do I just go on estriol cream/patch or estrogel cream....and then figure out if I need t add more, and how do I figure that out - how does one know if she needs progesterin/progestin or testosterone added (either the medical kind or the bio identical kind).

Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

I just find the pain releif from the patches is pathetic about 3 out of 10 considering the nhs pay 15 uk pounds for each 75mcg patch !!! for about the same price £16.50 they cud issue me with 150 10mg I/R morphine tablets every 3 days ffs!!! Not that i wuould ask for that much its just for price comparrison !!! very exspensive way of drug dilivery the patch is in my opinion considering atleast the last 50% of the drug WILL NOT be released from the patch transdermally !!!

Are these studies only on women who have gone through natural menopause or do they also include women who were put into surgical menopause at a young age?

My doctor informed me that Incivek (Telaprevir) blokes the hormone Estrogen, yikes, this could get ugly. I use a cream that I apply daily. I made an appointment with ND to see what we can do and start tx in September. Has anyone been experiencing symptoms of lack of Estrogen? It might get difficult to seperate it all. They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? so im on the ortho evra patch and i accidently misunderstood and took it off too early i took it off monday the 21st and had sex wednesday the 23rd well the condom busted and well yeah well i took plan b one step within 6 hours of it happenein and put my birth control patch on as instructed to do so by my pharmacist guess im just asking how concerned should i be that im pregnant

I seriously doubt that migranes are related to menopause..they are related to stress so by having stress from hyster, and medically induced menopause it could be said there is a connection. I saw the Ophrah show you speakof and I am 47 have had a medically induced menopause via hysterectomy also...my doctor recomedded bio identical hrt I only take estrogen...its good for bone desity, helps with nerves and anger outbursts I was having also took away hot flashes and insomnia..

Then go over the edges of the patch with your finger to ensure good contact around the patch. Try to avoid touching the sticky side of the patch with your fingers as this can effect the adhesive properties of the patch. Hope this helps.
