Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female, I had a saliva hormone kit evaluated with testosterone, DHEA, estradiol, and progesterone, also progesterone/estradiol ratio done. The results came back as this, Estradiol- normal Progesterone- Low; 47.2 (range of 127-446) Ratio of Progesterone to estradiol - 33.0 Low; (range of 200-600) Testosterone- 83.5 High; (range of 6.0-49) DHEA- 366.7 High- (range of 106-300) I can tell that i have way higher 'male hormones' than the women's hormones but, why?
Avatar f tn I've been seeing a trend where even holistic doctors are going more mainstream. I just saw a holistic obgyn who told me she no longer does saliva testing for hormones because she sees no difference between saliva and blood testing, and insurance doesn't pay for saliva.
Avatar f tn Took new saliva test and went to new hormone specialist. She changed me to cream (bio-identical also) plus added 4 adrenal food supplements. I have taken the same blood pressure med for 17 years and kept my levels normal. After using the hormone cream and adrenal supplements for three weeks, my blood pressure soared. My doctor took me off the supplements, but my blood pressure was still dangerously high. She doubled my present BP med plus added another med before it would come back down.
Avatar n tn My wife was diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism about 4 years ago and we no longer have her hormone levels at time of diagnosis. She is currently taking 100 mcg of synthroid, down from 150 6 months ago as her doctor was concerned about her low tsh.-- .02 in 4/08, .06 in 6/08, and .09 in 9/08. He has never measured t3 or t4. Why does she appear clinically euthyrid to me with normal heart rate, etc and have such a low tsh?
Avatar m tn I am 27 years old, male and I feel I have hormone problems but despite years of doctors visits and research I cannot figure it out. The problem is I cannot afford the trial and error method of dr.'s tests and visits so maybe someone can give me a bullseye to aim for. OK here are my symptoms, (hold your breath) I have night sweats that soak the bed sometimes especialy if i go to be with the blanket over me, I get hot easy at night. I dont sleep well.
1319991 tn?1274357816 hello im sure they should do a saliva test not blood test for hormone levels as blood test are inaccurate as when your body expels hormones that it has too much it has to transport them via your blood stream to your liver i think to be expelled. where as when you have a saliva test you do not get the waste transported so you get an accurate level on if its high or low. also look into natural progesterone. as i have had a thyroid problem they wanted to put me on hormone replacement.
Avatar f tn Ah. I don't follow or believe in the adrenal fatigue school. Sorry. The only docs that treat endocrine are the endocrinologists and totally agree - lots of duds out there. I have had better luck with neuro-endos but even some of them are stuck in the past. I disagree on the blood testing. Serum testing is very accurate. While you are researching look up cortisol binding globulin - free cortisol is effected by that and people can have naturally high levels or medications can raise it.
4974520 tn?1366757591 What were your hormone levels ? @5weeks mine were 10,400 and @ 7weeks mine were 80,000+ im now 14weeks and have no idea what they are now.... what is a normal range ?
1936698 tn?1333915193 I'm confused. My doctor has never told me anything about hormone levels and looking out for them or anything. My friend just had a miscarriage last night at 11 weeks, and I feel terrible for her and I just want to cry because she was so excited. Her hormone level went from 73000 to 1200. How do you tell if your hormones dropped and what is so important about them during pregnancy? I'm 31 weeks along and I am so confused about all of it.
Avatar f tn Hormone levels as in HCG? I'd say no, that's not possible, there is a specific type of blood test (I believe) that you can get done to tell gender, but I don't think insurance covers it, so you'd have had to pay it out of pocket, did you have any issues that would require a specific blood test, or did you request one?

1287560 tn?1272216521 Hello, just wondering if any of you lovely ladies know much about hormone levels, mine have come back but my gp is off till next week-anyway I am 41 years fsh 7.1, LH 1.3 eostrodiol 147, underneath the receptionist said it said "no action required" so I am thinking these must be normal?
Avatar f tn In my opinion, hormone testing daily with saliva will not be helpful. If your periods are regular, then you are ovulating. Additional hormone testing will not be helpful. If you are ovulating regularly, hopefully things might work out on there own. If not, your best chances if clomid has not worked out are to comtemplate either injection fertility medications with insemination, or IVF. I think IVF is most likely to succeed. Good luck.

Avatar f tn TSH is a pituitary hormone. FreeT3 and FreeT4 are direct measurements of thyroid hormone. Your doctor should be treating those frees. Are you taking a T4 hormone like Levo? Are you taking any T3 hormones? This website lists endos recommended by their patients. Make sure the doctor tests and treats BOTH sets of frees and will not be afraid to give you a T3 drug if needed. http://www.thyroid-info.
Avatar f tn hormone levels, go see you gyne and ask him/her to draw a FSH blood test. That will determine if any of the hot flashes are from perimenopause, menopause, or something else.
Avatar f tn Well I havent gone through menopause yet, but I did see a womens health doctor and she tested all my hormone levels and said I was in pre menopause, I was only 31 at the time, she wanted to start me on hormone replacement therapy, she said it would help with my anxiety so much, I didnt want to start HRT at such a young age, and you always hear about women that get cancer with hormone Replacement so I was scared as well. So here I am still dealing with anxiety.
Avatar n tn This should be done more than one time, as levels vary on different days. This is the pituitary hormone that signals the adrenal glands to release cortisol.
