Hormone levels gynecomastia

Common Questions and Answers about Hormone levels gynecomastia

hormone

Avatar m tn First of all, should I get blood work done to determine my hormone levels? Or are there any other ways of determining what could be the undermining cause of the lump? Also, I've read that once the gynecomastia has settled and the lump hasn't gone away on its own, no medication treatment will work and the only option is surgery to remove it. Is this true / have any medications worked for anyone with a similar condition?
Avatar m tn Hi, Normally gynecomastia during puberty is common and will get corrected of its own without any intervention. How old are you now and how is your present hormone levels?, if they are ok, you may not have to worry.
Avatar m tn Hi, * Erectile dysfunction- The fact that you wake up with erections could mean that your hormone levels are normal enough. If you have difficulty sustaining or having an erection consciously, it could be that you are just creating undue stress for yourself, with not very good outcomes. So avoid stress. * Infertility- So no infertility. Evaluate cause of miscarriage. * Decrease in beard and body hair growth- Always been that way, or developed body hair loss recently?

Avatar n tn Since there is a persistent swelling around your nipple area, then it is necessary that some type of testing be done, such as blood tests to check your hormone levels and a Mammogram or Ultrasound to obtain a correct diagnosis. Take care....
Avatar m tn When the body is deprived of adequate nutrition, hormone levels may drop. A balanced diet is essential for the formation of all the body’s hormones including androgenic hormones such as testosterone. Depriving the body of proteins and fats may deplete cholesterol stores, which are necessary for the formation of testosterone. Extreme malnutrition may also contribute to organ damage, including the kidneys and liver.
Avatar m tn I have been recently been diagnosed with an enlarged breast bud or possible gynecomastia pending a hormone test that is only on the left side. I took a blood test and I am waiting for the results. It is testing my random testosterone, cortisol, estradiol, dhea levels and my hepatic profile. I have no problems with my testicles no lump, pain, swelling, heavy feeling nothing, except above my left testicle the vein is more pronounced.Kind of feels like a "bag of worms".

Avatar m tn Slight gynecomastia, fit and healthy and its noticeable. I visited the doctor about lumps behind the nipples, and got ignored basically. I would like to go again, but am afraid i will be treated the same way. Is there anything i can demand, or can i bypass the GP and see a specialist?
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old male about 100 pounds overweight not really active and have a sedentary job. I have been having many symptoms of low testosterone including ed and gynecomastia. I recently took a hormone test and the results were: Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.
Avatar m tn d suggest that you go to your doctor and ask for some simple blood tests to check your hormone levels, since hormone imbalance is possibly the cause of the enlarged breasts. Your doctor should also be able to give suggestions for making them go away. In order to lose weight, you should center your diet around lots of veggies, lean protein and complex carbs/fiber. Low/no fat dairy should help maintain calcium and vitamin D levels, but you can always think about supplementing as well.

Avatar n tn Hi, I went to a Mastologist to see if I had gynecomastia, since my nipples appear puffy, but they aren't hard, the nipples themselves are soft, and after I went to the consultation, I was told that it's not gynecomastia, and it's only fat. But my question is, can just fat cause the nipples to be puffy like it would appear if it's gynecomastia?. Additional information: I'm 18 years old and was overweight at around 12 years, when it appeared the puffy nipples.
Avatar f tn I should add, if you've ever seen a bodybuilder, they've often got some pretty good sized breasts.
Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar n tn but then i came 2 know, that breast cancer very, very rarely happen in males, so i thought it is gynecomastia and will get away during course of time. however they r not. i guess i also have hormone problem, as even though i am 20, i am not muscular and i have a very sparse facial hair. is there any link of this with these lumps, or are these REALLY symptoms of cancer. i am about to approach docter, just needed an opinion from an expert.
Avatar m tn When the levels are too high or are out of balance with testosterone levels this can cause Gynecomastia. There are medications and lifestyle changes that a man can use to help reduce the level of estrogen in his body. Please understand that we, in this Forum, are not doctor but members trying to help the best way we can.We can only give our opinions concerning breast issues, but nothing more than that.
Avatar n tn A Radiologist will read the images and determine if it is gynecomastia or something else. It could be hormone related. Sometimes medications can cause gynecomastia.....certain antidepressants, cimetidine, antiandrogens, diazepam, digitalis, marijuana, and certain steroids. At your age, it could also be an increase in hormones..... I think seeing a specialist is a good suggestion, for your peace of mind!
Avatar n tn After consultation and research myself it would point to being gynecomastia(?) however i failed to mention there is a history on my dads side of the family of cancer. I was wondering if you could offer any opinion on the matter, whether genetics play much of a role and whether it is possible of someone my age/gender to get breast cancer - also taking into account that cancers of this type are painless(?) and often show other symptoms (discharge etc).
Avatar m tn Gynecomastia is the unfortunate side effect of having Epilepsy. It's caused by the hormonal changes occurring during frequent episodes of epileptic seizures. This link will add more info about this case: http://sciencelinks.jp/j-east/article/200022/000020002200A0669157.

Avatar m tn I have recently been diagnosed with unilateral gynecomastia ( I thought I had male breast cancer). I have read that bilateral gynecomastia could be a sign of testicular cancer, but I have unilateral. I have no family history of testicular cancer no lumps, consistency is the same as is size. No other symptoms. Sometimes the epididymis on the left testicle is a little bigger than the one on the right. I am not infertile.
Avatar m tn I'm a 24 year old male. Healthy (as far as I know), not on any drugs, quite slim (about 5'9" 130 lb). For a little over 2 months I have been having pain behind my right nipple. Coincidentally or not, a week before the pain started I got a cut on the same nipple that healed fine. I include this not knowing whether or not it's relevant. I was prescribed the antibiotic Bactrim.
Avatar n tn I doubt skipping meals is going to help except to weaken your immune system. Taking a more natural approach to your stomach problems and getting your hormone levels checked out is your best course of action Rosencrantz. Your body needs the nurishment to meet the demands you put on it. Just a tip for you, every time a person cuts back too much on food his/her body goes into starvation mode.
Avatar m tn Hypothyroidism lowers stomach acid so this affects vitamin B12 levels in particular. Folate levels can fall along with B12. I found my folate increased when correcting B12 deficiency. My deficiency was due to autoimmune pernicious anaemia though. Iron is low. Low stomach acid affects this mineral as well. Hypothyroidism also depresses bone marrow production. Elevated RDW can be due to vitamin B12, folate, iron deficiency. CRP is elevated showing inflammation.
