Common Questions and Answers about Hormone imbalance uterine bleeding

Avatar f tn Most of the time, changes in hormone levels or hormonal imbalance cause abnormal uterine bleeding. However, pathology either in the cervix or uterus can also cause abnormal uterine bleeding. Examples include polyps either in the cervix or uterus, myomas, and carcinomas. You should consult your gynecologist for further evaluation. Regards.
Avatar f tn There are many causes of abnormal periods, including but not limited to hormone imbalance, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, adenomyosis, endometrial polyps, uterine fibroids (especially submucosal or intracavitary in location), pelvic inflammatory disease, bleeding disorder, or rarely cancer. You should see your gynecologist for further workup and evaluation. You mentioned you have had prior unremarkable CT and US.
Avatar f tn Other causes could be polycystic ovarian syndrome, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone and uterine abnormalities like fibroid and cervical dysplasia. Your doctor may consider tests like serum HCG, blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone.
1134902 tn?1296066144 anywho my question is...could this be caused by a hormone imbalance brought on by my intense workout? even tho Im only spotting, Im still cramping. My family doc is booked up until the new year, so I can't see her anytime soon.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I'm 27 years old, I've never had kids or have been pregnant or on birth control. I've started randomly bleeding between periods about 1.5 years ago. At first it started as just a strand of blood in my otherwise normal discharge, then I started having blood tinged discharge after exercise and after orgasm (no penetration). Since about year ago, it's gotten progressively worse to wear I'm bleeding in between every period.
1825526 tn?1317564613 Hello, This brownish blood can be due to implantation bleeding or bleeding due to uterine bleeding due to corpus luteum defect. The other possibility is of an impending miscarriage. You should get a serum HCG test done to rule out any pregnancy and if the symptoms persist then intermenstrual bleeding should be ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn It sounds like since your mother is going through menopause that the two biggest answers would be a thyroid issue or another hormone imbalance. Hormones and your thyroid both effect your period and the hair loss is also a sign of both menopause and thyroid issues. My mother is going through menopause and has noticed that she is losing hair from her arms, legs, and pubic area. The doctor said thats normal for menopausal women but if your mother has other more severe symptoms I would go to the Dr.

Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan may also be recommended in certain individuals.
Avatar f tn Hello, Polymenorrhea or bleeding from vagina more than once a month could be due to several causes such fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, uterine polyps, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems and bleeding disorders. It can also be a part of severe pelvic inflammatory disorder. STDs like Chlamydia and gonorrhea too can cause this. You should get an evaluation done from a gynecologist and get these possibilities ruled out.
Avatar m tn I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on the 7th Feb to check the reasons for irregular uterine bleeding which was probably down to depo shot. During the procedure they removed adhesions from my ovary and unstuck it from my pelvic wall afaik. I was told nothing else had been found but they'd done a D&C and took a biopsy. Ever since then I've been bleeding.
Avatar n tn The other worry of course is ovarian cancer, but it is usually asymptomatic before the bleeding shows up...Most likely, this is from a hormone imbalance...Good luck and keep us posted! -Also, while you are bleeding, have your red blood cell level monitored for anemia (every 1-2 weeks). If you begin feeling like you are about to pass out when you stand, break out in cold sweats, or keep getting dizzy or short of breath under normal exertions, -get seen ASAP!
Avatar f tn Or maybe there is another issue like hormone imbalance, thyroid issues etc but blood tests in the past have not shown this. Pregnancy could be an option but unlikely!??? Anyone else suffer from this or can shed any light on the issue? I think it's time to head back to see the gynae I guess.

Avatar f tn Provera is derived from the female hormone progesterone. You may be given Provera if your menstrual periods have stopped or a female hormone imbalance is causing your uterus to bleed abnormally. Provera is also prescribed to prevent abnormal growth of the uterine lining in women taking estrogen replacement therapy. Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer.
Avatar f tn Dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) most commonly occurs when the ovaries do not release an egg. Changes in hormone levels cause your period to be later or earlier and sometimes heavier than normal. Hope you get sorted out very soon.
Avatar f tn Hello, First of all it can be due to metrorrhagia which causes uterine bleeding at irregular intervals, particularly between the expected menstrual periods. Metrorrhagia can occur due to dysfunction uterine bleeding, hormonal imbalance, polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, infections of the cervix, vagina or endometrium, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian insufficiency, ovarian cysts or benign lesions of the female reproductive system.
Avatar m tn So I'm 22 and have been bleeding nearly every other week since the beginning of Jan. This began when I started dieting and exercizing on a regular basis, losing 30 lbs to date. The bleeding is a moderate flow and I don't feel bad or anything, I'm just sick of bleeding.I know most of you will say go to the doctor but #1 I don't have time to go because of my school schedule, #2 I simply just do not believe in going to one of those doctors.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to have sex when you got out off a hospital for hormone imbalance about 8 day and they put you on birth control or do you wait
Avatar n tn If you have a hormone imbalance, can it make your birth control less effective? I haven't been able to find much info on this but I suspect I have a hormonal imbalance due to the pill so I was wondering if that could mean the pill would be less effective against pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period. I also suffer from inability to sleep, mood swings cyclical depression, facial hair, hot flushes as well as cold and irregular periods, I am now having 2 periods a month, one really light and short and one a week later that is pretty severe....
