Avatar f tn You can also have PCOS and not have cyst just the hormone imbalance. I have had several u/s and no cysts thank god. Unfortunately 50% of women with this will be overweight. Your ovaries, adrenal glands, and fat cells produce androgen. So for women that are overweight, it is really important for these women to lose weight to reduce the androgen production and possibly reduce many of the symptoms. I am overweight by 60lbs and it just piled on in a short time. I don't eat all that bad.
1604313 tn?1304361623 You can get blood tests done to check hormone levels (as PCOS occurs due to hormonal imbalance) and get a sonogram to check out your ovaries.
Avatar n tn ask for a refferal to endocronologist if you can they probbaly will do the hormone tests and if they think you have it most probably will prescribe with metformin which helps conceiving in most cases , also losing even small ammount of weight will improve fertility if you have PCOS , just weight gain and heavy periods itself shoulndt indicate PCOS , but if you have irregular periods it may be sign of some hormonal imbalance .
18533109 tn?1465640552 Ovulation problems are often caused by polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a hormone imbalance problem which can interfere with normal ovulation. PCOS is the most common cause of female infertility. Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) is another cause of ovulation problems. POI occurs when a woman's ovaries stop working normally before she is 40. POI is not the same as early menopause.
Avatar f tn Is it ok to have sex when you got out off a hospital for hormone imbalance about 8 day and they put you on birth control or do you wait
Avatar n tn If you have a hormone imbalance, can it make your birth control less effective? I haven't been able to find much info on this but I suspect I have a hormonal imbalance due to the pill so I was wondering if that could mean the pill would be less effective against pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period. I also suffer from inability to sleep, mood swings cyclical depression, facial hair, hot flushes as well as cold and irregular periods, I am now having 2 periods a month, one really light and short and one a week later that is pretty severe....

1134902 tn?1296066144 anywho my question is...could this be caused by a hormone imbalance brought on by my intense workout? even tho Im only spotting, Im still cramping. My family doc is booked up until the new year, so I can't see her anytime soon.
Avatar f tn m asking is that do any of you think that these symptoms could be caused by extreme hormone imbalance? No one has ever tested my hormones before. I find it weird that they all started almost a month to the day I quit birth control. Also, my period was never regular when I was younger, I matured late and would sometimes go 6 months without getting my period. I was also anorexic during high school which didn't help. But I am no longer and eat very healthy.
Avatar f tn You could have a hormone imbalance. You really need to see an ob/gyn right away as you could now be anemic with bleeding for 8 weeks. Call your doctor and set up an appointment.
Avatar n tn It takes blood work to confirm PCOS. You can have polycystic ovaries and not have the hormone imbalance. It does not always mean you will have trouble conceiving. You never know until you try.
898040 tn?1284036509 I had mine checked when they were testing me for PCOS (along with many other hormones) for hormonal imbalance. It is the hormone that elevates right before ovulation so CD3 is an interesting time to test it. Have you been using OPKs and getting a lot of positives day-after-day?
12182312 tn?1427683956 Did you get a copy of your tests? How high is high? PCOS should be confirmed with other abnormal hormones and the cysts. Otherwise, they are just throwing out a diagnosis. Odds of cancer are low, and other hormonal issues can mess with Dhea too.
Avatar f tn Tough question, because the answer is both. Hormone therapy is usually the best way to deal with PCOS, so if you haven't yet, I would make an appointment to see my gyno.
Avatar m tn d recommend having her thyroid checked. The darkened skin could be a hormone imbalance. Not sure about the little bumps - perhaps that razor irritation or ingrown hairs?
Avatar f tn Metformin helps regulate insulin levels and therefore correct the hormone imbalance that might be causing the weight gain and infertility. I am not sure Metformin will help you lose weight unless you are exercising and watching your diet, but regulating your insulin will help get your body on track to losing weight more effectively.
