Common Questions and Answers about Hormone imbalance from birth control

Avatar f tn Is it ok to have sex when you got out off a hospital for hormone imbalance about 8 day and they put you on birth control or do you wait
Avatar f tn If you have an Implanon and are getting a lot of symptoms that sound hormonally related, one thing to do is to remove the Implanon and go on another form of birth control that doesn't involve hormones (such as condoms and foam or an IUD), to let your body go back to its normal hormone cycles. Do this for two or three months and see if your cycles regulate, and how you feel. Keep a journal, it will help you see patterns. Then see how you're doing with the symptoms you list.
Avatar n tn If you have a hormone imbalance, can it make your birth control less effective? I haven't been able to find much info on this but I suspect I have a hormonal imbalance due to the pill so I was wondering if that could mean the pill would be less effective against pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I am a 27 year old female and have been sick with weird symptoms since May 2013. I have been on the same birth control for about 7 years (the generic name is Sprintec). About a year ago, I started getting really sick during the inactive period week. I was getting nausea, diarrhea, and just feeling completely drained. My gyno switched me to a stronger pill (orth-tricyclan) in April 2013...
1134902 tn?1296066144 Just to let everyone who maybe searching for answers with similar issues. My dr said it's very unlikey that a hormone imbalance would occur from an intense workout... But a loss of fat that is usually used in metabolism etc can throw off the bodies methods. My dr has prescribed me nuvaring to help me deal with the mid cycle bleeding as well as for birth control. I have since had even more mid cycle bleeding. I was sent for blood work to check thyroid levels as well as a pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn Yaz is great especially if you have a hormone imbalance. I don't get any side effects from it. I was scared of taking it, glad I did....
Avatar n tn I am starting to think I may be suffering from a hormone imbalance as my symptoms seem to go when I start my period. I also suffer from inability to sleep, mood swings cyclical depression, facial hair, hot flushes as well as cold and irregular periods, I am now having 2 periods a month, one really light and short and one a week later that is pretty severe....
Avatar n tn HE SAID THAT I HAD A HORMONE IMBALANCE DUE TO STRESS........HE SAID THAT HE WAS POSITIVE OF THIS AND GAVE ME PROGESTERONE TO TAKE FOR FIVE DAYS........HE WAS RIGHT........EVERYTHING IS BACK ON TRACK AND I WAS CALM AFTER THAT.........WELL, MY DOCTOR WHO DID THE BLOOD WORK AND URINE TEST BEFORE THE OBGYN VISIT AND HORMONES, HAD HER RECEPTIONIST CALL ME AND SAY THAT MY BLOOD SUGAR WAS A LITTLE HIGH AND THAT THE DR. Avatar m tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to hormonal imbalance. You need to get your hormone levels checked from a gynecologist and if they are low then you may need to take hormonal treatment or oral contraceptives for some time till the hormone levels come back to normal. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn t have any symptoms until I was 8wks with both of my babies but it is possible you are experiencing a hormone imbalance from the pill which might give you similar symptoms. Good luck!
594189 tn?1386916607 She gave me natural Pregesterone to start taking from day 14-26. What I wanted to know is if we are not using birth control and I want to get pregnant while doing this should I do a pregnancy test on day 26 before I stop taking pregesterone? I have an increase in testosterone can that be caused by the low pregesterone? Also my blood sugar is 104 is that really that bad and can the hormone imbalance cause that? Thanks in advance for all information. I really just want to have a baby.
Avatar f tn Three months ago I had this same thing happen. I've never in my life missed a period and for weeks and weeks I kept taking an HPT with no results. At last I figured out I was having a "Phantom Pregnany" or hormone imbalance. I've been on the pill for nearly ten years, and a lot of things can cause a hormone imbalance from the water you drink to the things you eat to the pill itself, I learned.
Avatar f tn mostly in the case of birth control. Unlike a lot of people, I had never been pregnant when I was first diagnosed, I had however had a Mirena IUD for a couple years, and prior to that Depo and the pill. Long story short; while having GM, I had my IUD removed and had a child. Afterwards, I had an IUD inserted again, and within 2 weeks had my GM flaring up. I immediately had my doctor remove it, and they wrote me a script for a low hormone pill, my GM continued to flare up.
Avatar m tn I will tell you though, I had a thyroid issue and a hormone imbalance. I have not taken birth control pills since that time. I also got melasma (facial discoloring) from the hormone imbalance when on BC pills and it went away when I discontinued them. I just found other ways to prevent pregnancy. You may able to find a suitable solution with your doctor. But with your thyroid issues, you are now a more complex patient that needs professional guidance related to any hormones you take.
Avatar f tn If you get terrible migraines prior to your period it is caused by a hormone problem or hormone imbalance. I don't take birth control pills and don't no why you have this bleeding. I would recommend you have your hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and FSH) checked though blood work. I would also see an endocrinologist because they specialize in this area. I never new that taking the pill would suppress having you cycle completely.
1828162 tn?1317748092 I went to the ER, where they did nothing, and then I went to my gyno and she prescribed me some birth control to even out my hormone levels. I took the dang pill, after having a HUGE anxiety attack about it because I am deathly afraid of any medication. The fear mostly stems from my fear of getting sick or feeling sick(er). That was nearly two hours ago, and no side effects yet... But I also don't quite feel "normal" yet which I am LONGING to feel.
Avatar f tn but i am on birth control. i have been on the same birth control for years and i have not had ANY side effects from it whatsoever. i hope i helped at least a little.
Avatar n tn I understand that this may be a hormonal imbalance and I have been taking the appropriate measures to try to get them back on track by taking my Levothyroxine everyday, for my thyroid, which I always have, Zoloft and Lorazapam to help cope with my current situation, a low dose birth control pill, Magnesium, and Vitamin D3. I have also been eating a low-carb diet and trying to get on an appropriate sleep schedule. Although I feel very out of it all the time, cognitively I feel the same.
Avatar f tn Have you had your hormone balance checked? Hormone imbalance can cause that type of cyst/abscess around the vaginal area. I have also had the same problem in the past, and it was present for years. Since I have tested my hormone levels and started treating the imbalance, the cysts have completely disappeared. Hormone imbalances can also cause deficiencies in vitamins in the body that are essential for your immune system.
Avatar f tn I am looking for birth control suggestions, since I have never been on it, and my periods are sometimes extremely painful and irregular, with not much bleeding. I exercise almost every day and have low body fat, but my doctor suggested I see a gynecologist since I may have ovarian cysts, and it runs in the family. I have an appointment in two weeks but would like to be well researched before I agree to take just anything.
Avatar f tn Did they do tests to see if it was a hormonal imbalance or was it just trying birth control because that usually does help? Some types of birth control also will stop periods from happening and you may see spotting- do you know if that is the type you are taking?
Avatar n tn There are different factors that could lead to this, though. One of them is how you take your birth control, if you are on birth control. Talk to your doctor, though, to deduce what is causing it in your case and stop it.
Avatar f tn I went to go to get checked & the doctor told me i had some kind of bacteria infec goin on & a yeast infection, prescribed me medication for 1 week for the bacteria & 1 pill for the yeast infection, i also just started birth control, & now im done with the pills but still taking birth control, i started to notice Thick White Discharge with Dark Brown Spots..im worried! what could it be..?
Avatar m tn that week i felt very off, just not myself. a week later i got my period and started birth control for the very first time from my doctor's orders, which was around two weeks ago. ever since i feel like i have been on a decline. horrible mood all the time, angry and frustrated at stupid things, depressed, and recently loss of appetite and no energy whatsoever. which is weird because i am normally very energetic and upbeat and working out all the time.
Avatar n tn Are you on birth control? When we have our period theres water retention that makes us feel bloated and keeps it flowing (bc loss of blood) thats why in midol there is a diaratic..which increases urine frequency so we dont feel as bloated. If your on a birth control thats new it tends to shorten your period. If your not but you have gotten older your period can also change with age. Mine did the same thing..now esp that I am on birth control.
446896 tn?1237802742 My regular doctor and gyno wanted me to either get on a drug for anxiety/depression, or get back on birth control. But my mom reasoned that I was fine before birth control and learned from researching online that birth control was probably the cause of these problems in the first place. We decided to stay away from more drugs and wait it out. My episode of terror lasted a week the first time and I lost 13 pounds. I did not want to do anything, even get in the shower or change.
