Avatar m tn Over the past two to three years symptoms also include severe migraine headaches, joint pain, and sleep disorders. Now I am 44 years old. In an effort to try and document a pattern, I recently clued into an increase of some symptoms just prior to or at the beginning of my period. (Stress definitely aggravates my conditions) I confronted my gyno, but basically got a response that it was a coincidence, and it had nothing to do with hormones. Could I be allergic to my own hormones?

Anyone heard of these? The meds I take are Prisatiq (for depression) Klonopin (for anxiety-but my dr. swears this will "relax" my muscles too), Norco & he just added Stadol NS.

Avatar f tn Hi Olivia, How are you? One-sided headaches may be caused by primary headaches such as migraine headache. It usually presents with throbbing headache and sometimes nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound and even numbness. This can also be associated with hormone changes which can be associated with your age. Rest, ice pack and prescription pain medications may help. If it persists, have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn medications as simple as tylenol or advil if used too much can cause rebound headaches that are even worse then the headaches for which the medications were started for. This is very common and is most likely to occur with use of any medication for your headache more than a few times a week. It can occur with all the commonly used headache medications such as ibuprofen, triptans (such as imitrex), fioricet, and commonly with any type of narcotic such as tylenol #3, dilaudid, percocet, etc.
1219184 tn?1297080096 Can you elaborate on the character of the headache. What medications did you discontinue? If the start of these headaches coincided with the removal of these medications, there is a high degree of suspicion that they are responsible. Although factors that you mentioned ( hormones, food, etc) can also aggregate your condition. Ice packs, pain medications and relaxation techniques such as biofeedback may help provide relief.

Avatar f tn ve been suffering for with headaches since I was in the 7th grade. I think they could hormone related since I sometimes miss my period and my breasts occasionally hurt. But I'm not sure. FYI I'm not on the pill or anything, so no issue there. I've been to different neurologists and have had many MRI and CT Scans, that all come back normal. I've been going to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, hoping they would catch something but everything appears normal.

Talk to your doctor about his or her working diagnosis and review your medications. If you are not comfortable taking these too many medicines, inform him or her and discuss their management plan. Avatar f tn There are medications available which can be used on a daily basis to prevent headaches. These include antidepressants like Elavil, anti seizure medications like Topamax and Depakote to name a few. A neurologist would be able to prescribe the appropriate medications depending on the characteristics of your headache. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
