Hormone estrogen increase

Common Questions and Answers about Hormone estrogen increase

hormone

Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar n tn Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn I have read that estrogen with out Progesterone, is not safe. I am talking about bio-identical hormone therapy, which is very safe, you can get the bio-identical progesterone cream at any health food store. I would sure do this if you plan on taking any kind of "synthetic" Estrogen.
Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
Avatar m tn Ok, thanks for the relpy. So it's not beta sitosterol that causes the increase in estrogen levels. Does that mean that BS doesn't cause an increase when taken on its own?
Avatar f tn He states it is NOT the progestrone - but estrogen that can increase the cancer risk. If you are estrogen dominant then your risk of cancer is great. Balancing out with progestrone to lower the dominance of the estrogen is a good thing - but not eating or supplementing with estrogen. It seems doing that will only keep you in the cycle of estrogen dominance. Soy is harmful if taken in large amounts.
Avatar f tn *Herbal medicines Withania or Coleus to increase production of thyroid hormone. (See Best Herbs for Women article.) *Iodine (not kelp) but in LOW dose. *Use with caution in Hashimoto's disease. *Amino acid tyrosine which is the building block for thyroid hormone. *N-acetyl cysteine to detoxify *Vitamin B6 and Vitamin A to improve the function of the thyroid gland. *Selenium and zinc to ensure conversion of T4 to T3.
973741 tn?1342342773 My sister has made me worried about taking estrogen as her friend got breast cancer and her doctor says the estrogen supplementation was involved. That does make me nervous.
Avatar n tn My Gyno said that I have probably an estrogen dominancy and I should increase progesterone on 200 mg. I always thought that low estrogen is causing these symptoms. What do you think? My GP told me that my estrogen levels are still low for my age and she would increase the Estrogel, but she isn't an hormone expert, so she don't want to intrude.. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I had another hormone blood panel done and it revealed I was still low in estrogen. The Dr inserted an estrogen “booster” pellet at this time. After another week I told the Dr I was still soooooo tired and had gained another couple pounds. She increased my Armour Thyroid to 2 gr (120mgs) per day. A couple days after the Armour increase, I didn’t feel “quite” as tired. Instead of wanting to sleep ALL day, I now could get by with three, two hour naps per day!
Avatar f tn A couple of studies in regard to trying estrogen as a treatment for metatastic ER+ BC that had failed previous hormone-blocking therapy. 2. One study trying short-duration estrogen just before each cycle of adjuvant chemotherapy to see if it would increase the effectiveness of the chemo 3. A study testing the safety of vaginal estrogen (Vagifem) for vaginal atrophy/dryness in woman on estrogen-blocking drugs such as tamoxifen 4.
Avatar f tn My oncologist has made it very clear that I am not a canidate for HRT even though I have had a bilateral mastectomy and the cancer I had was not hormone dependent. They only thing she may consider is an estrogen ring which only releases a small amount of estrogen which absorbs locally. Very little is actually released into the bloodstream. This would only be used if other non-hormonal lubricants did not work. This will not do much for other menopausal symptoms.
Avatar n tn s health initiative (WHI) study does suggest that ERT may be associated with an increased risk of ovarian cancer (note this is estrogen plus progesterone, there is no reported increase with estrogen by itself in WHI study). Plus remember tha there have been no studies looking at estrogen increasing ovarian cancer recurrence in women with a known ovarian cancer.
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
Avatar m tn Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.8 Ug/DL None given The doctor told me the numbers were in normal range and it is not a problem. I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there.
Avatar m tn In particular, hormones added to meats and poultries can inhibit testosterone production while encouraging the production of estrogen, which is the female hormone. Elevated levels of estrogen in men cause them to take on more feminine characteristics. In fact, when estrogen levels in men are higher than they should be, it can bring about a whole slew of unwanted and potentially dangerous side effects.
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
233616 tn?1312787196 estrogen liver fibrosis ....and get 684,000 hits. Apparently the benefit to protecting the liver is well documented and the research has been around for a while. Yet my liver doctor didn't mention it, or suggest I go back on it.....but I did it through my endocrinologist as soon as I found out. I'm wondering how many ladies in here are aware of this, have any doctors told you??? or whether any men have considered a small dose to help slow the progression of this disease?
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar n tn You are having hot flushes? It suggests your amount of estrogen has dropped from what your body was getting before. Ask the doctor. He or she might want to test your estrogen level in your blood, or might just interpret that the hot flushes mean your estrogen level is a little low.
20922415 tn?1661860103 Progesterone is one of the sexual hormones in the female bodies maintains and regulates sexual well-being. In males, it is produced in a small amount for sperm development. 1999441 tn?1589741765 She still plays around a bit but is mostly non-sexual. If she is put on Estrogen will this increase her sex drive? I thought I had struck gold when I found out about her sex drive back when I first met her when she was 50. When I was 60 I ended up with ED and our sex life ended. I had my Testosterone checked and it was 33. I got put on T shots and now my sex drive has increased like crazy. I also had a cyst on my spinal column and when it was removed I started getting erections.
Avatar n tn That is, what is your risk of recurrence by taking the hormone-suppressors and NOT taking the hormone-suppressors. It is different for each woman. There is a formula to calculate it based on stage of disease, type of tumor, age at diagnosis and other factors. There's a computer program that doctors have access to that when you input the right data will automatically calculate the recurrence risk for the individual patient.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?
