296340 tn?1336164001 Many of the herbs that increase fertility have been found to possess natural forms of estrogen and other pharmaceuticals routinely used to treat pregnancy issues in synthetic forms. The names of some of these herbs, like black cohosh, are fairly familiar, but others, like red clover and chasteberry are less well known. How do Fertility Herbs Work?
Avatar f tn m more concerned about the licorice and adaptogens affecting my severe hormone imbalance more than my thyroid. I have severely low estrogen, testosertone and progesterone, and I read licorice and adaptogens can lower estrogen. Licorice is an adaptogen not a stimulant.
Avatar f tn Hi Dr and thanks for the response, I was reading in another note you said that "CA125 can have variation in value based on the lab assay and certain herbs that affect the liver" What are those certain herbs?? I am taking several herbs and I went to my new doc on May 1, and she wants to do 1 more doxil, I had 6 so far, at #5 ca125 was 108, after 6 it was 118, so it did rise a bit , which is very concerning to me as i want to stop chemo soon.
Avatar f tn t try any natural remedies to alter your hormone levels. Certain herbs, for example, can actually interfere with the medication you will be taking....so always ask your doctor first! Best of luck!!!
Avatar f tn I will update once i have an actual print out of levels, but i was curious about natural ways to treat hormone imbalances. My testosterone is extremely high, estrogen extremely low, and progestrone is low as well. I may be jumping the gun here without actual numbers, but I'd just like to get started on taking some kind of herbs/vitamins/supplements as soon as possible. Not sure if this is useful in anyway, but possibly worth noting--my Vitamin D, B12, and Iron are all extremely low.

Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
3046028 tn?1340538562 Scientists have discovered hundreds of phytoestrogens including soybeans, seeds (especially flax), whole grains, nuts (especially walnuts) and many herbs. Phytoestrogens herbs include black cohosh, **** quai, red clover, alfalfa, licorice, Korean ginseng, wild American ginseng, kudzu root. My mother used a product by Blackmores called Phytolife (contains soy phytoestrogens). She read an article where Japanese rarely suffer symptoms of menopause due to the high soy content in their diet.
Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!

Take potassium supplements with this herb. This supplement is best taken during the follicular phase (first half) of your cycle. Do not take this supplement if pregnant or breastfeeding. • Sarsaparilla Root Helps the body maintain normal hormonal function. Do not take this supplement if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Avatar f tn If Amberen is your last result, I’m guessing you have tried hormone replacement therapy, natural herbs and/or bioidentical hormones. Either you were too scared because of the side effects of HRT or you experienced no relief from the disruptive menopausal symptoms. Well, like many other exhausted and frustrated menopausal women, you finally have the solution. Amberen is the only clinically proven product on the market today that uses your own hormones to alleviate your menopausal symptoms.
1112541 tn?1286311213 Some herbal products (like soy isoflavones, red clover and some Chinese herbs) can act like estrogen in our bodies, and may not be safe for women who need to avoid estrogen. Also, there are some antidepressants that are supposed to be helpful for those of us who can't take the hormones, so that might be another option you could ask your doctor about. Take care!
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar n tn You are having hot flushes? It suggests your amount of estrogen has dropped from what your body was getting before. Ask the doctor. He or she might want to test your estrogen level in your blood, or might just interpret that the hot flushes mean your estrogen level is a little low.
Avatar m tn We tried every doc on our HMO ands finally had to pay cash and go to a private doc who specializes in male hormone therepy. I was told that the high estrogen levels also increased the risk of cancer, similar to women who take hormones for IVF. Be careful!
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

1638247 tn?1300467050 I've always been heavier than everyone else, even though I ate less and exercised more. But from the age of eight onward, I began gaining a lot of weight for no reason. No matter how little I eat or rigorously I work out, my body won't respond to diet or exercise. At one point, I was living on 200 cals a day while strength training and arobics morning, noon, and night.
Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.
655897 tn?1328018445 My progesterone is over 20 and my estrogen is 237. Does that sound good? I have fekt crampy 6 and 7dpiui but not so much today except for in the morning due to the Crinone. Please tell me what you think. My estrogen on the day of trigger was 1810. When I got pregnant before, my progesterone was12.2 and estrogen was 600.
Avatar n tn But giving up all dairy products is just smart. All dairy cows produce a lot of estrogen just to produce milk. Forget the fact that they are given de-wormers, antibiotics, growth hormones and such. And animal estrogen isn't a good thing. Then there comes the debate about phytoestrogens in plants. Soy for instance .... so many studies and so many different answers! Keep everything in moderation and you will do well. I actually take a drug called neurontin for hot flashes.
Avatar n tn Soy has plant estrogens. If your cancer is estrogen sensitive I would be very careful about using any product with "isolated soy protein.
Avatar n tn I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday. I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
