Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.

What you are having is breakthrough bleeding due to hormonal effect of bioidentical hormones and should get better with time. If it persists then get it evaluated from your gynecologist. Avatar f tn So if I was still getting my period, I could take birth control pills (which have a lot more estrogen in them than the estrogen replacement) in addition to what my body would be making and this is safe?!?! Has anyone asked their doctor about this or has anyone heard of any studies being done on young surgical menopause people? This is so confusing and scares me. When I wasn't on enough estrogen, life was miserable. I was 35 and yet I felt like I was 86!!
Avatar f tn In fact the diagnosis is considered confirmed if a patient responds to Indomethacin. In females it is important to rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once. Chnaces of nerve compression in cervical spine region or TMJ are maximum. You may need some tests for confirmed diagnosis which may include blood tests, MRI etc. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar f tn I've had my female organs removed one at a time with a LSH in 2006, left oopheractomy in 2007 and right oopheractomy just two months ago in 2014. I awoke from my last surgery with a patch on and have used it as directed since. I use to get hormonal headaches every other month or so and was able to successfully treat them with one or two prescription pain pills for headaches.

Avatar f tn I am recovering from a hysterctomy due to uterine cancer. My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance.
Avatar n tn Im reading a lot of advice against the use of hormone replacement therapy, but the studies I have researched report that its the combination of progesterone and estrogen that is bad for you, and that estrogen alone may actually decrease the risk of breast cancer. My question then is has anybody else read any studies similar?

Avatar n tn Soy has estrogen like effects... have you tried drinking vanilla soymilk? You might want to get your thyroid function tested to make sure it is just the lack of (I think) progesterone that is causing your weight gain and not hypothyroidism.

797256 tn?1237636468 Hello, I am writing because I have lots of symptoms of PCOS and 5 years ago I went through fertiltiy and found that I have PCOS, but now 5 years later I had my hormone levels taken just by family doctor and they say they are normal but what is normal. Can anyone help me? I don't have periods, I grow hair in places you don't want and more here are the lab results from lab. Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
Avatar f tn Estrogen can give quite a headache, and estrogen levels increase a lot during pregnancy -- try vitamin B 100 and magnesium (be sure to take the magnesium only a half pill at a time or it can give you stomach cramps and the runs).
Avatar f tn I was placed on HRT - estrogen and estrogen vagina cream. I was 23 and had a 14 month old baby girl at home and needless to say it was a very difficult time. Reach out to family and friends for support. Baby yourself, rest and try to relax. Look into alternatives to estrogen and dont stop until you find something that works for you. You are still young and have many more years ahead. I'd suggest looking into naturopathy for alternatives.
Avatar f tn Dear Amy good question personally I am in favor of estrogen replacement , especially at your age.
Avatar f tn I'd ask the doctor about getting your thyroid function tested and female hormones- progesterone & estrogen as well as prolactin & luteinizing hormone & cortisol to see if any of these numbers are off. Also, re: headache- is your blood pressure high? If this type of headache is new to you, you should ask for a brain scan.
Avatar f tn I have been told from the start that with a lumpectomy I would need radiation. I found out later about the hormone therapy. I want to know if this is standard of care for my situation. I had a 1cm lump including DCIS and ILC. My margins were 6mm, 1cm, 5cm, 6cm. The ILC was in a linear pattern and low nuclear grade. 4 of 4 nodes were negative for cancer. I am ER+ 100% and PR+ 90%. I am HER2 negative. I was told my cancer was caught very early and I should be OK.
1673736 tn?1304180812 In particular, the physiologic drop in the female hormone estrogen immediately before the start of the menstrual flow is considered the underlying cause. Birth control pills as well as hormone replacement therapy during menopause have also been implicated as migraine triggers in some women. For those taking OCPs, the side effects, which include headache, decrease in birth control pills with lower doses of estrogen and did not occur in those who took birth control pills containing progesterone.
