Avatar f tn Try not to stress because this only makes matters worse. Talk to your Doctor about a pregnenolone supplement (Not DHEA!) for a short period of time, just to get you past the seven to ten week mark. You may also want to start using a natural progesterone cream. Renewed Balance by AIM is safe and effective. Start with less than the prescribed amount and gradually increase to the prescribed amount. Try to apply the cream around the same time every day and to not skip a day here or there.
Avatar n tn He discovered that I had adrenal hormone deficiencies. I was low in pregnenolone, DHEA, testosterone, and progesterone. I had been on birth control for years and went off of it about a year ago. He had me begin taking supplements and these are the levels after two months: pregnenolone was 13 up to 103 now (7-188) DHEA 61 up to 165 now (45-250) progesterone <.05 during lutuel phase now 11.
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
Avatar f tn Hi im 18 can my GP offer a hormone test as i feel i have a hormone balance or is this something you have to buy like a kit (i also have an under active thyroid)
1904182 tn?1363253974 i'm sorry, but I think Gymdandee is not on this time. St. John's Wort is particular not involved in PMS treatment unless the effect is depression, but it won't do anything to balance your hormones, which is what I think you're trying to do. Chaste berry, or Vitex, is a precursor to progesterone in those who need it. It can be very helpful, since most women have too much estrogen and not enough progesterone due in part to environmental toxins and the western diet.
Avatar m tn Thanks ginger! I'm not trying to fix anything tho, I'm just trying to support his overall health. Low testosterone is directly related to prostate cancer in us old guys. Its has many physiological benefits. I know from personal experience. Natural testosterone cream reduced my blood sugar, triglyceride and cholesterol levels to a normal range. My depression lifted and my enegry levels increased. When testosterone is converted to DHT and estrogen it can be problematic.
Avatar f tn Women who have a healthy hormone balance tend to enjoy their lives the most. Hormone fluctuations can result in several problems such as perimenopausal difficulties, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, fibroids, heart disease, breast cancer, and ovarian cysts. Usually, women don’t completely meet what their bodies need—food and exercise to reduce stress and feel better. Diet, nutrition, and workout are some of the common lifestyle changes that can help women restore hormone balance.
Avatar f tn By nature, birth control works by changing the hormone balance in your body. I believe in most cases it makes your body think you're pregnant so that you won't get pregnant. It's probably this change in hormone balance that's causing this. There are 2 possibilities: it could be that over time your body will adjust & you won't feel so sexually charged. Some women have a drop in their desire when on the pill. The other possibility is you could ask your Dr.
Avatar f tn You will be interested in the following info I found on the subject of acne and hypothyroidism. "when thyroid hormone is deficient, the body cannot convert cholesterol to the steroids pregnenolone, progesterone and DHEA. Of these, progesterone is the most important in the prevention and cure of acne—and thyroid hormone plus natural vitamin A work to ensure its formation. So why not just take straight progesterone?
Avatar f tn Because you had a hysterectomy, the usual natural approach is more complex. I'd advise seeing a naturopath. The usual approach would be to use a trial and error approach with the great many herbs and "natural" hormones that are derived from the Mexican Wild Yam that help to balance hormones, but again, since you've had a hysterectomy, you might want to see a naturopath who knows more about what influence that has on the matter.
Avatar f tn Actually, the cascade of adrenal hormones starts with cholesterol, from which the brain hormone pregnenolone is made. Pregnenolone is then transformed into DHEA. And DHEA serves as the raw material from which all other important adrenal hormones--including the sex hormones estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone and the stress hormone cortisol--are synthesized.
Avatar m tn For about 9 months now I have been struggling with my balance it started last dec when I was trying to walk across a parking lot and it felt like I was on a moving sidewalk or slippery but it wasn't the feeling as come and gone until July when it changed to feeling like I was trying to walk on a small row boat that was in a river when I close my eyes and try to stand on one foot I start to fall over.
Avatar f tn If you did want to still have children, there are things you can do to improve your hormone balance which is usually the number one reason why women have trouble at our age. One very effective thing is acupuncture. It's not cheap but in just a few months can return your hormone balance to where it should be. It can help alleviate the symptoms of perimenopause even if you didn't want to have kids. There are lots of supplements that can help with hormone balance, too.
Avatar m tn TSH is a pituitary hormone, that is affected by a lot of variables, and it can fluctuate wildly, even intra day. In order to assess thyroid hormone levels, you should be testing Free T3 and Free T4, which are the active thyroid hormones and correlate much better with symptoms, that TSH. As stated by Red_Star - the entire endocrine system is tied together and all hormones are affected by the others.
Avatar n tn I started taking pregnenolone and 7-keto DHEA thinking it would increase testosterone. I finally went to my doctor 2 1/2 months ago. He ordered blood tests. My total testosterone is 375 on a range that says 250 to 1100 ng/dL. My free testosterone is 71.6 pg (range 35-155 pg/mL) & Testosterone Free % is 1.91 (range 1.50 - 2.20%). The results page says my estradiol is out of range. it says 10L with a range of 13-54 pg/mL.
Avatar f tn I would go see a doctor. They're able to help regulate your period and balance your hormone levels.
