Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
Avatar f tn Good point, Ulrike. Also, if you do in fact have thyroid issues you might reconsider your Type II diagnosis, because people with one autoimmune disorder tend to be, in fact LADA/Type 1.5 misdiagnosed as Type II.
Avatar m tn I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there. I know losing weight will lower my estradiol and raise my testosterone, but how much of a difference will it make? I would be willing to try TRT but I am scared of infertility.
Avatar f tn RAI is a strong but very effective treatment. It takes a long time for your body to balance itself with hormone replacement therapy, I had thyroid cancer and was successfully treated with a large dose of RAI. The weight gain is mostly water retention. I know quite a few people with the same thyca treatment and ALL gained weight. Exercise and a good healthy diet and a thryoid hormone replacement therapy will bring your weight back to a more normal level.
Avatar n tn I had started an exercise program and was feeling good and losing weight. I will continue to exercise but who knows how long I will be on these meds. Good luck w/ your symptoms & best of health.
846905 tn?1258817444 I too have gained a lot of weight, not losing weight while going to the gym and starting diet, and i haven't been able to get pregnant in 2 years other than that miscarriage. My acne is like yours, it will not go away and i am getting boils in my pubic area as well, and I had never had that before. Let me know what you find out... I have an appointment on Monday with a gynocologist and will see if that has anything to do with any of this.
504000 tn?1242500793 Also you may want to talk to your doctor and see if they can give you a thyroid level blood check because sometimes your thyroid slows down post partum and that hormone fluctuation can cause depression, mood swings, hair loss, weight gain and lethargy.
Avatar f tn t want to sound rude but first and foremost lose weight and get your health in check. If it is a hormonal balance losing weight could definitely help.
Avatar f tn Toni is right - you don't gain weight from the med, you gain weight from your thyroid hormones being too low. Weight gain is a classic symptom of being hypo and many people are lucky enough for the weight to come off, once their thyroid is leveled out again. Some of us have to work hard at getting it off. I'm one of the latter. I find that maintaining portion control has as much to do with losing as what you're eating.
1698865 tn?1306869524 I started working out regularly when I hit my plateau and I still was not losing any weight. So after a few months of nothing, I thought 'it doesn't matter I'm not losing anything anyways' and I pigged out. A couple days later i stepped on the scale and i had lost 2 lbs! I went back to my diet anyways and by the end of the week, I had gained those 2 lbs back.
Avatar n tn Why do you want to be underweight? If you love sports you most likely have a lot of muscle mas making up your current underweight BMI. Get a fat percentage measurement done and you may find that you should actually worry more about properly nourishing and taking care of your body's needs than losing weight. Don't hurt yourself, and your body will continue to play sports. Underweight is not good. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmicalc.
2053729 tn?1330435506 According to what I have researched, my BMR is 2485 and I eat about 1800 calories a day, so I should be losing weight just being me. Add in the approximate 2000 calories I burn with my exercise and I should be melting into a puddle! We do a lot of weights, pilates, abs, pushups, strength bands and squats at my aerobics class so I know my body is changing. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have had my thyroid checked in the last 4 months and it was "normal".
Avatar f tn Hi! Hormone imbalance is definitely the first thing to come to mind! If your hormones are out of balance, you won't ovulate on time which can lead to a skipped period (and neg preg test). Usually the next thing to happen is prolonged heavy bleeding with clots, etc. when the lining finally gets so thick that is starts to shed. A 14 day course of Provera would do you a lot of good if you can get someone to prescribe it for you.
Avatar m tn and if you have too much of this or too much T3 and T4 it causes Hyperthyroidism, which increases your metabolism, and CAN cause you to become anxious, because it speeds your body up. You probably feel like your always moving and it can be exhausting. Are you losing weight as well? This might increase your blood pressure too. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms they should prescribe you something.
Avatar f tn I had my thyroid removed in December but prior to that I was hypo and on Levoxyl 100 mcg. I'm currently back on the Levoxyl after the RAI and I've not had any weight problems. I'm a runner and before the surgery my tsh was always around 2.5 and I've always been very thin. I run several days a week and eat a reasonably healthy diet. I lost several pounds during my "sick" period, aka, the 6 weeks of hypo hell followed by the RAI.
Avatar f tn Workout is important but diet is more important, you should take a controlled diet and count your calories. Hope this will help you in losing weight.. You can also try diet supplements with your weight loss program..
211043 tn?1337050701 As for the frozen babies, they told me they wanted to give the other 3 another day to see if they progressed, and they would send me a letter if they got any to freeze - I never got a letter so I asked today and they said there are none on ice either. :o( I have a new plan, and that is to focus as much attention as I have on taking 50 billion pills a day on time and doing this and doing that, and shift my focus to exercising and losing weight.
Avatar m tn hi, i suffer from man boobs and its quite embarrasing for me, i want to get rid of them and im am ready to begin, i have heard losing weight will get rid of them, so this would mean alot of running and cycling, what shouild my diet consist of and also how to i make sure i dont become deficient in vitamins specially calcium and vit d?
Dog Hi! Weight gain and loss can be very difficult to explain or understand. It certainly sounds like your calorie intake is less than your calorie outgo--meaning that you should be in negative balance. It may be that your body has entered starvation mode since your calorie restriction is so severe. In starvation mode, your body hangs on to every bit of weight possible. It is also possible that you haven't waited long enough.
Avatar f tn I was dieting and losing weight went to doctor was told my thyroid hormone was low started the medication but stop losing weight. Is it possible to lose weight with low thyroid?
Avatar f tn I currently take 300mcg of Levothyroxin and 25mcg of Cytomel, and have for years. Ive gained a huge amount of weight, hoarse voice, annoying cough, dry skin, you name it, Ive got it kinda thing. Im so frustrated, I had to have a hysterectomy due to heavy bleeding 3 years ago. I also have symptoms of both hypo and hyper. Im getting a second opinion next month, but Im at my wits end. My joints hurt so bad some days its a challenge to walk. Any advice?
Avatar f tn i had a hysterectomy and went into the change i had hot flashes and all the good stuff that goes with it, but with 3 kids to look after i did not gain weight my neighbor had a hysterectomy at 29 she had 6 kids she was so releived that she would not have to worry about having kids she really enjoyed her sex life, she also went throught the phase sometime it bothers a women she feels when she has a hysterectomy she is not a full women, but i had no problem with this nor did i feel like you do i am
Avatar f tn Beyond that high SHBG is also caused by oral contraceptives. High SHBG can cause low free testosterone, which is necessary for hormone balance (weight gain, the hot flashes, libido, energy, etc). That could be a huge part of your problem. Your thyroid hormones actually look okay. TSH is good, but that's not a thyroid hormone; it's a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid. Your FT4 is good.
