Avatar n tn t just do the obvious but also help hormonal balance and acne. I am 17 and my periods are all over the place really and have lately been a week (ish) late and my facial skin is getting pretty bad. I don't need them cuz I would never have sex outside marriage but i thought I'd ask if birth control pills would help or make things worse...

Avatar f tn ve heard that because hormones from IUDs are localized vs systemic (like pills) my acne will get worse. Is this true?
Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Although Macafem is 100% all natural with no known side effects, since you have a family history of breast cancer, you should consult with your doctor first. Macafem works in an entire different way than synthetic hormone drugs do. This herbal supplement won't increase or decrease any specific hormone, but it will regulate the hormonal system as a whole by stimulating your body's own production of hormones.
Avatar f tn Here is the comparison between Sprintec vs. Tri-Sprintec. Yes, Sprintec contains the same level of hormones as in the third week of the Tri Sprintec (Day 15-21). Sprintec has the same amount of hormones for the 3 weeks of active pills, while the Tri-Sprintec increases in norgestimate each week. Sprintec®: Day 1-21: Ethinyl estradiol 0.035 mg and norgestimate 0.25 mg (28s) [21 blue tablets] Day 22-28: 7 white inactive tablets (28s) Tri-Sprintec®: Day 1-7: Ethinyl estradiol 0.
5787844 tn?1376078984 Lol I was given sprintec pills but I was thinking of trying natural or non hormonal methods birth control. Tracking, condoms, etc. I have been on hormonal birth control pretty much since I was 17. I can't loose weight very easily. The last year has left me with greasy, and yet somehow brittle hair. Horrid acne. Heavy periods, and extra weight. My doctor shrugged me off when I mentioned being concerned with weight gain. Saying it's not that common.

Avatar f tn hi there, i have pcos and my OB and DERMATOLOGIST suggested that i take yasmin coz i have acne in my face and back and probably because of hormonal imbalance. i never wanted to take pills because of the side effects. its my 1OTH DAY of taking the pills. no drastic improvement with my acne yet. im quite sleepy lately, i dont know if this is one of the effects of the pill. anyway, my greatest concern is that after i stopped taking the pill after 6 months, im afraid of acne breakouts.
4565515 tn?1373411085 I switched to it two or so years ago because my other bc pills were causing acne, but it cleared right up when I started Apri. I know bc can cause acne but I've been on it for over 2 years with no problems. My question is should I make an appointment with a doctor to see why I'm getting acne and does it have anything to do with the stomach weirdness since my period ended on 6-29-13?
Avatar f tn Hello. It's been 8 months since i started visanne and everything is great. No major side effects, no pain, no bleeding. I should be switching to birth control pills next month and i am scared about this hormonal change. What to expect, since i don't have any estrogen now? How will my body and mind react to this change?
Avatar n tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. You can prevent and treat acne by changing your lifestyle like eating proper diet, getting a good amount of sleep and drink at least eight glasses of water daily. You can also treat acne by cleaning your face regularly, using skincare products, apply antibacterial topical medications.
Avatar m tn The instructions with the pills say clearly that those on this pill should be on other non-hormonal forms of birth control eg condoms and to not use any other birth control pill while on diane 35. more information here: chealth.canoe.

1165843 tn?1263018569 Spironolactone. Girls can take it, not boys. That is the key to cystic acne for girls. All hormonal based. I'm 49 and have had them since 17 years old. Still get them, but only once a year. Taking Solodyn 105 mg. with it, too. That's a high dose, but necessary. Spironolactone comes in 25mg pills. One pill a day is not enough! That won't fix anything. I take 100 mg a day to maintain. 50 mg in the morning and 50mg at night.
Avatar n tn Other forms that do NOT have a physical barrier include pull out (not very effective, I would advise against), hormonal patches, pills, IUDs, injections, spermicides, diaphragms, and probably more that I haven't thought to list. I would also err from injections, as they can affect long-term fertility. Spermicides kill sperm cells in the vagina and are best as supplimental protection. Patches are left on the skin for a week at a time to regulate hormones to prevent pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Your risk is highest for acne if you are a teenager, although women often face a high likelihood of the bumps due to hormonal changes linked with menstrual cycles, birth control pills and pregnancy. Red bumps on the cheeks or other parts of your body that fade and then reappear in different sizes often signal hives, or urticaria, says KidsHealth.org. Hives usually resolve without treatment and don't leave markings on your cheeks.
Avatar n tn I literally have hair growing everywhere. It is very embarrassing to discuss. Not to mention I have acne on my face, back, chest, butt and legs. I went to the doctor in April and had a papsmear done as well as blood work - complete blood count and testosterone levels - everything came back perfect until my doc. performed a transvaginal ultrasound and found a cyst on my right ovary the size of an egg.
Avatar f tn Brands of bc pills like Yasmin work well for acne. My doc put me on yasmin for medical reasons, but since starting it I havent had a pimple yet.
Avatar f tn My 16 year old daughter is suffering from moderate/severe cystic acne. She has been through several antibiotics with no results. She is currently on Bactrim and due to go back to Dermatologist tomorrow with suggestion of starting Accutane. She woke up with this acne in mid-December and began taking Vyvanse a few weeks before. Could there be any correlation? I don't want to jump into Accutane if Vyvanse could be causing it but she is so self-conscious.

Avatar m tn My weight loss is not much yet, but I was wondering if taking these birth control pills is actually the reason for my weight loss? I know birth control pills are supposed to help with hormonal imbalances, so would taking them also enable me to finally start losing weight, despite the fact that so many women say birth control pills cause them to GAIN weight?
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
Avatar f tn I'm VERY prone to nausea and vomiting from hormonal birth controls, no matter how long I take them. I want to try the ring because no pills have worked for me. Also, I've been getting multiple 5-7 day periods a month and I need something that will regulate me. Another thing is that I'm prone to infection from birth control as well (I had the Mirena IUD for 9 months and got a bacterial and yeast infection from it, as well as severe acne). Can the ring cause infection?
Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
