Common Questions and Answers about Hormonal acne on jawline

acne

Avatar f tn s suffered from acne all throughout my teen years. My worst battle with acne was in early 2016, and just to give a little insight on that phase, my face was completely covered with all kinds of acne, from whiteheads to blackheads to cysts, and it was so painful that I couldn't sleep on my sides comfortably.
Avatar m tn but in this year it came to haunt me.. its getting worst at the jawline area and it left many small scars there.. especially on my right side's jawline.. left side's hardly got.. only 1 or 2 that pop out and goes off niicely. What causes the breakouts at the jawline ? And i'm currently using Cetaphil to clean my face every morning n night.. sometimes afternoon as well.. and i'm using Clean n Clear acne gel for my pimples spot now.
Avatar n tn I am beginning to wonder if this condition is due to something more serious going on with my body or if it is perhaps hormonal. Please help me if you can. It is so embarassing to have to walk around with my face like this. This discussion is related to Rash and acne like breakouts on face once a month for past three months.
Avatar n tn I have one sex partner. Please help! I am also on birth control Apri and have been having extreme acne under my jawline on my neck (I read this is hormonal). Please give me your input on what you think is wrong.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 29 yo considering OC to help hormonal imbalance (not so much pregnancy prevention). I have cystic acne along my jawline. I have been using spironolactone 50mg daily about a year. Overall, it's improved about 50%, but will worsen during pre-mentraul flare ups. However, my derm is hesitant about increasing my dose and suggested adding on OC. Any reccomendation on what estrogen/progestin combo to try for acne?
Avatar f tn I have this red bumps with pus in face neck and jawline and it gets itchy when i put the solution im using now. It started last year september and I have tried different ways to get rid of it until I decided to go to a dermatologist but it didnt worked as well. I never had this much acne, the usual is like a pimple or two that i think its because of my menstruation. I dont think i have hormonal imbalance coz my period is on regular basis.
Avatar n tn After three years on it, I began to suffer from bad chin/jawline and back acne, and was menstruating for two weeks at a time. I have now stopped the injection and started on the Qlaira contraceptive/birth control pill, which I know is not especially for improving acne as some are (Yaz, Diane 35), but I want to know how likely this change is to help, as i really am at the end of my tether. I'm about a week into my second pack and so far, nothing has changed - for better or worse.
Avatar m tn I have exaxtly this same exact thing happening on jawline ... Any cure yet? It's driving me nuts.
Avatar m tn Your eating habits should not have a direct effect on acne, since acne is caused by bacteria and hormonal fluctuations affect it. Yes, some foods MAY trigger an attack in some people, but I'm yet to see this in my case. Sometimes our skin gets used to certain topical medicines. If that's the case, the doctor will change it for you or combine it with other meds.
Avatar n tn I'm 26 and tanned a few years in my early twenties. I saw a derm about six months ago, and my skin was fine. Since then, I've developed almost cystic like acne on my right-side jawline, which has since gone down. However, there was a bump I must've picked which left a sore that scabbed over, went away, became irritated and came back, not healing up after what seems like a few months.
Avatar f tn Same here! Also getting a lot of acne around my jawline. Ugh! Is that the "pregnancy glow" everyone talks about?! Lol!
Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar f tn m a 17 year old male, and recently I went to my doctor for a regular checkup. He commented on the redness and spots that were showing on my face. They weren't necessarily pimples, in most cases they were just empty red bumps. My doctor put me onto a facial medication known as Epiduo. (http://www.epiduo.com/) I'm not sure where you live and whether it's available to you or not, but I would recommend talking to your doctor about it (I'm from Australia, and we have it here).

Avatar f tn I saw this acne bump forming under my skin, right on my jawline and within like the span of two days, the bump was turning blue ish and then the next day it was black. Every now and then, the pimple would pop itself and pus would come out, and it was painful to touch. After two months, I decided to pop it completely as it was too painful and the pus coming out of it was very frequent.
Avatar f tn Hi. Apologies for the extensive response in advance but I feel everything that follows is pertinent. Sounds identical to what I'm suffering with; literally developed relentless cysts on my jawline and chin a few months ago after only having to endure a minor hormonal breakouts beforehand.
Avatar f tn It all started with small pimples on my forehead which went away and then it proceeded with acne on my cheeks and jawline. The acne though is deep inside of my skin. Some pimples did hurt some pimples didn't. I also went to the dermatologist, and she gave me a specific antibiotic: Vibramycin 100 mg : which made me worse. When I say worse I mean it with the whole meaning of the word. My acne wouldn't go away one bit.
Avatar f tn I woke up one Monday morning last October with a sore on the right side of my upper lip. What had been a small pimple the night before was really red, swollen and sore. By that night I had vague pink spots on my chin and near my lip. By Wednesday morning I was trying to get to the doctor because I had throbbing pain, and was feeling really bad. No fever, but I had five wounds by then, and my glands along my jaw were sore and swollen.
Avatar m tn It’s mainly on my jawline also and the bumps never really disappear just descrease in red was and size. It’s only on the Right side of my face and my cheek stay pretty red bc of it. Did you ever find a cure for it or find out the reason it was happening?? It itches bad and I’ve never really had acne prone skin, just occasionally pimples before this. I’m lost.

428506 tn?1296557399 wonko- I am also on Mino and have recently had more breakouts, especially on my forehead! I thought it odd to get more zits on an abx usually used for acne! I also relate this type of breakout to a higher TSH for me. I am hypothyroid as well. I have a phone consult this week with my doctor and a follow up appt 2 weeks after that. I will ask at one or the other what is up with this.
