Hormonal acne breakouts

Common Questions and Answers about Hormonal acne breakouts

acne

Avatar n tn I believe the correlation comes from the release of androgen hormones in your body when you rapidly lose fat. While there are no studies confirming or denying that there is an increase in acne breakouts while taking phentermine, enough people have experienced it, to provide a definite correlation.
Avatar f tn I'm 19 and have been taking birth control pills (a generic version of Yaz) for several years for acne. It's worked well, and I rarely get breakouts. However, I recently became sexually active and it's sometimes a pain remembering to take them at the same time daily. I've been looking into more longtemr birth control solutions.
Avatar f tn Hi. Apologies for the extensive response in advance but I feel everything that follows is pertinent. Sounds identical to what I'm suffering with; literally developed relentless cysts on my jawline and chin a few months ago after only having to endure a minor hormonal breakouts beforehand.
Avatar n tn Hello, From your symptoms perioral dermatitis and adult acne are important possibilities. It occurs due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
Avatar m tn I always had very clear skin even during teenage years, but all of a sudden in past year I just started breaking out on my forehead, chin, cheeks...really bad breakouts starting red, some have white heads that pop eventually...first I thought that waxing causes it and stopped, but nothing helps...no systems, nothing....I haven't had any amounts of stress, no real change in diet, I do take birthcontrol pills every couple of months, but break outs started before i started on them...
Avatar f tn I too am breaking out, luckily for me I am an esthetician.. I use all murad products and they work really well for me. I use an exfoliating acne treatment gel as well as a clarifying mask a couple times a week. It really works for me. If you want to try it out you can purchase the acne kit and test it out. It is a lot cheaper than purchasing these two products and that one comes with 4 products. It is a 30 day trial kit.
Avatar n tn Their products have sulfuric acid and salicylic which kills bacteria, heals the breakouts and prevents any more breakouts from coming through. If nothing works for you its because they are hormonal and hormonal cannot be cured with products because it is a bodily function....
Avatar n tn I am having the same problem as the person above, however, I have saw a dermatologist and am now using glytone, benzacline, and tezaran cream. Neither seem to be working. As the person above has stated, I still break out every month around the time that my cycle is supposed to start. The bumps are very small, appear to be whiteheads and appear around my jawline, the right and left side of my face, forehead, etc. Is there anything I can do to prevent my face from breaking out.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. I had bad hormonal breakouts. If I was in birth control or pregnant I didn't have a problem. I had other side effects from birth control so I decided to get off of it and the acne returned. I tried everything OTC for acne. I even tried proactive and it did nothing for me. So then I realized it was related to my hormones. I found a natural treatment. It's an herb called vitex fruit. It can take a couple of your cycles to take affect.
Avatar f tn Within the past month I had unprotected sex with someone I don't know very well. Recently I started breaking out under my nose and on my chin area, which I've read were my hormonal areas in regards to acne. Could a STD like Chlamydia be the cause of this? I'm 36 and no stranger to breakouts and a few years back, I had syphilis. Unfortunately being blind to the symptoms I went almost a year without knowing.
Avatar f tn hi there, i have pcos and my OB and DERMATOLOGIST suggested that i take yasmin coz i have acne in my face and back and probably because of hormonal imbalance. i never wanted to take pills because of the side effects. its my 1OTH DAY of taking the pills. no drastic improvement with my acne yet. im quite sleepy lately, i dont know if this is one of the effects of the pill. anyway, my greatest concern is that after i stopped taking the pill after 6 months, im afraid of acne breakouts.
Avatar n tn In the past few months, I have had at least two or three MAJOR acne outbreaks on my face. I never had much acne as a teen, but this has gotten ridiculous. When I suffer from these breakouts, I mostly get VERY itchy red bumps on my forehead, my cheeks and whiteheads on the sides of my nose. I try not to touch them other than when I am cleansing (mild facial cleanser [Kiehls' brand]), or applying moisturizer (Nivea for men).
Avatar f tn Oh welcome to the club. Sorry my face so awful till 10 or 11 weeks that was unreal. I'm 34 and still having adult acne on top of hormonal acne. They can't give you too much stuff like meds for it right now. You gotta hold on and later it should get better. After I delivered my 2nd baby my face was awful again. Yeah ... hormonal craziness. But I use tea tree oil pads off of amazon to clean my face with. Very natural and it does help to reduce inflammation.
8324906 tn?1398158808 It's not acne though more like allergic reactions to bites... But they all look different and no one else is getting bit. Could yours maybe be heat bumps?
Avatar f tn Water. Although if your like me your suffering from repeat bathroom trips 2/3 times an hr. But I'm also going thru the hormonal effects of breakouts during first trimester. But water does help.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone experienced a full face full of acne for a prolonged period after starting Arimidex for breast cancer treatment? It is my friend who had breast cancer and she is blind and wants me to write for her. She also has Lupus but she has seen a dermatologist and rheumatologist and they dismiss it as acne. She knows she is out of remission with discoid lupus but she also has systemic lupus. But they assured her the 'acne" is not lupus breakout.
Avatar f tn I feel like if my hormone levels are all off and I get them regulated it will solve other problems like acne breakouts and such. In case this makes any difference, I also had the chicken pox 1 1/2 months ago and had my wisdom teeth removed 2 weeks ago. Been period-less for 4 months and never been regular. Sore breasts and nipples for maybe a month or so. 18 years old and weigh 105.
Avatar f tn ( regular soap and water like I normally use doesn't seem to be working what do you guys suggest??
7364027 tn?1391791254 I'm 8 weeks along and I'm breaking out alot. I know it's a hormonal thing but is this there anything I can do or just wait til it stops?
Avatar n tn Hi... Im getting really frustrated with my face breakouts lately. Ive never had a problem with pimples before but now my chin keeps breaking out. The pimples i keep getting are cystic acne. They hurt really bad and nothing helps them go away. This is currently what i use on my face: Face wash with .5% salicylic acid and another facewash with 3.5% benzoyl peroxide. I MAKE SURE to take really good care of my skin but it dosent seem to work.
Avatar m tn I'm 20 years old, i don't have acne problems before this.. but in this year it came to haunt me.. its getting worst at the jawline area and it left many small scars there.. especially on my right side's jawline.. left side's hardly got.. only 1 or 2 that pop out and goes off niicely. What causes the breakouts at the jawline ? And i'm currently using Cetaphil to clean my face every morning n night.. sometimes afternoon as well..
Avatar f tn s) heavily, I used to breakout. But not like real acne, but close enough to look like pimples. I only remembered this question as I seen a meth addict yesterday on t.v. and you know how they get those crystal sores all over and pick at them? Kind of the same idea, only not sores more like acne. Now mind you, this was only if I was using heavily, 6 to 10 a day. Heavy use for me... Thanks for your feedback!
428506 tn?1296557399 wonko- I am also on Mino and have recently had more breakouts, especially on my forehead! I thought it odd to get more zits on an abx usually used for acne! I also relate this type of breakout to a higher TSH for me. I am hypothyroid as well. I have a phone consult this week with my doctor and a follow up appt 2 weeks after that. I will ask at one or the other what is up with this.
Avatar n tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. You can prevent and treat acne by changing your lifestyle like eating proper diet, getting a good amount of sleep and drink at least eight glasses of water daily. You can also treat acne by cleaning your face regularly, using skincare products, apply antibacterial topical medications.
Avatar m tn The doctor told me to continue using Benzoyl Peroxide and the rest of his recommendations everyday if I want to keep my face from acne breakouts. And then the real deal walks in the drama, my face started to look so aged, dull, and oily. I'm only 21 but my appearance looks like I'm already in my 30's. My face is literally shiny and glistening with acne scars that made it hideously terrible. It makes feel like I have mutated to a horrifying monster.
