764075 tn?1234495599 reading on Neupogen and have read that although it is not FDA approved for the treatment of,HCV, no generics being manufactured and is quite expensive. Are there assistance programs out there to assist with cost of Neupogen if my Dx prescribes. I am on a basic health program and co-pay 50% for all meds.
Avatar m tn I have hep c and am un insured and am interested in getting into treatment with one of the new drugs coming this year. Any suggestions on where I should be looking for programs for the folks that cant afford treatment?
Avatar m tn The PAC said she figured it would take about six weeks to get everything lined up for me. The receptionist said she has had approvals for HIV drugs in 3 days, but she had never done requests for HCV (No, I only have HCV, not HIV). I'm curious how long it has taken others to get approvals from the drug companies?
Avatar m tn Some programs are for those with specific conditions like HIV/AIDS or end-stage kidney disease. Programs may also coordinate with Medicare benefit plans. You may see these called state pharmaceutical assistance programs (SPAP). Assistance Programs Run by Nonprofit Groups Partnership for Prescription Assistance: A program sponsored by drug companies, doctors, patient advocacy organizations, and civic groups. It helps low-income, uninsured patients get free or low-cost, brand-name medications.
Avatar f tn this whole thing scares me ,But. Its better to do something then nothing so If anyone. Has any info on how to get treatment in my situation. It would be appreciated .

Avatar m tn Even if you cannot afford routine care, there are programs available to assure treatment for people with HIV. After you arrive, you can contact the Massachusetts health department for information about finding such care; or just make an appointment at one of the major medical centers.
1722607 tn?1335747858 I contacted my insurance company today to ask about the price of the meds for triple treatment. A 3 month supply of interferon, ribavirin, & Victrelis would cost $180.00 (so about $60 a month) I thought it was going to be a lot higher. But I forgot to ask about "rescue drugs". Not sure how that works and how much that would be. Any one have an idea?
1025061 tn?1252454030 In areas where syringe/needle exchange programs are not available, I have read that cleaning needles with bleach can be effective in killing HIV as well as other bloodborne pathogens. I have also read contradicting information that, say, if dried blood gets "stuck" somewhere within the syringe, cleaning with bleach has little-to-no effect and the virus (specifically HIV) can still survive and be transmitted. Curious as to what this group's consensus is.
Avatar n tn I qualify for various types of donor egg ivf programs that offer a money-back guarantee if I don't have a successful pregnancy after 3 donor ivf cycles. We are finding that the price of these 3-cyle guaranteed programs varies by as much as $15,000! In the cheaper program, we would share a donor's eggs in a given ivf cycle; the clinic would match the donor with us according to race, but we would not have further information in advance or be able to refuse a given donor.
712314 tn?1303098090 I think that from your mentality right now, you are in a good place to get treatment. As far as relapse goes, while you are in treatment it is so so important while you are there to discuss relapse prevention, and most programs that have any idea what they're doing should have this as a part of their program I would think because it is so crucial.
Avatar n tn However, as HIV-2 and group O infections are extremely rare in most countries, routine screening programs might not be designed to test for them. Anyone who believes they may have contracted HIV-2, HIV-1 group O or one of the rarer subtypes of group M should seek expert advice.“quote from“http://www.avert.org/hiv-types.htm” and some article shows that there may be false negative result of type O so in case of that, should I test more times using EIA test?
968076 tn?1248272910 There are also trial programs you can go on. Type trial for hep.c and goole it and find one in your area.
148588 tn?1465778809 “At that time, Stribild’s price was 35% more than Atripla, the company’s best selling combination HIV/AIDS treatment, and made Stribild the highest priced first-line combination AIDS therapy. Now, Gilead has set a new benchmark for unbridled greed with its outrageous price for Sovaldi—a price that some pharmacy industry sources suggest represents a retail markup of 279,000% over the cost of actually producing the drug.
504029 tn?1399559768 In Brazil, the government provides free anti-retroviral medications to anyone who is HIV+, and their prevention programs are much better than ours. All this started back in the 1990s when they realized that they were facing a looming epidemic on the horizon that threatened to make Brazil like sub-Saharan African when it came to HIV. So they started a massive public education, prevention, and treatment campaign that continues today.
Avatar m tn As a person who has gone through a number of treatment programs, I can tell you, that a treatment center is not the thing that ensures sobriety. You knowing you are serious about quitting, and will go to any length to do so, is what's going to ensure your success. When you first go to a treatment program, they have you stay in a nursing station, where they help you get through withdrawal, by giving you something to settle down and sleep. A doctor can similarly help you to do this.
Avatar f tn I think the primary drive here is to get people to get tested. If you start talking about how complex the treatment options are they are going to avoid testing. We need to focus on getting patients tested and then I'd love to see counseling programs after diagnosis like there are for HIV patients. With educated patient advocates. Hmmm....
Avatar f tn Dear Tessy2, I would contact your insurance company directly and ask for the eating disorder treatment programs on their panel. You could then call each of their contracted facilities. If interested in any of the programs, have the treatment program intake department run an insurance verification to determine your financial responsibility.

2021910 tn?1339896686 Oh my gosh I've been wondering the SAME thing but for Washington. Although last time I called 411 about housing in my area they told me that basically nobody is helping with housing due to budget cuts :'( and the ones that are have a waiting list at least a year long. But thats just for my state I'm not sure about yours. Try calling your local 411 or 211 and asking about housing. Or look it up in the phonebook.
