1043834 tn?1269046623 I was completely infuriated. I mean if knowledge is power this individual was saying that an HIV test could ruin your life. This was that individuals comment: DON'T GET TESTED!
149675 tn?1416676733 One thing that is not mentioned often here is that when and if the "new drugs" are available to the public there is nothing that says insurance companies will be willing to pay for these new drugs for patiennts to use. I very much doubt they will be on the "formulary" of insurance companies right away. They will be brand new drugs with no track record and that fact might very well make them unavailable to most.
Avatar n tn I personally feel there is a bit of both anxiety states going on, the candida is causing anxiety plus your mindset is too. Treatment is over the course of a few months with the Candida supplements and by following a very healthy diet and I'm positive that within a week or two you will start to notice a calmer, more relaxed sensation within your body, which in turn will have a positive effect on your mind.
Avatar m tn If you are e-positive then the end of treatment is becoming e-negative. If you are e-negative then the end of treatment is less clear and needs further discussion.
Avatar n tn The therapeutic approach of stopping treatment to let a newly upcoming viremia induce a stronger immune response has been used also in HIV - it was called "structured treatment interruptions" - and in HBV where they called it " in vivo therapeutic immunization". "Pulse therapy" where the retreatment was started according to a fixed schedule independent of reoccurrence of viremia, was also used. Unfortunately, none of these approaches worked as well as hoped.
Avatar m tn My health is getting bad day by day and I want to take the HIV treatment immediately. Your comments will be highly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Most tests are negative and if you were so unfortunate as to have HIV, the test would allow you to seek treatment sooner. There is no reason to delay or avoid HIV testing. In your case, the test, which will likely be negative, will give you peace of mind.
Avatar m tn My doctor assumed it was chlamydia, is there any chance it was something worse, or something uncureable. Im expecting results back in 24 hours for Chlamydia test. I know hiv is out of the question, but what about syphilis?, gonorrhea? herpes and the like. would the doxy clear, any of the above? or should I ask for other medications?
Avatar n tn He took me slowly of all of these drugs saying that this is just an Anxiety. Lexapro is not bad, but my dosage I fairly tolerated was 2.5mg a day. Then I quit Lexapro, stayed on Klonopin only, worked it down to 0.5 a day. I feel better than with all of meds I mentioned, however, I struggle a lot.
Avatar f tn My husband is a geno1 and was also very hesitant about treatment when he first learned about it. In the end, he found it a risk worth taking after weighing the pros and cons of his situation. He started treatment last fall, though we don't know what the end result will be for him for a while. We hope to be able to say that it was all worth it. He's finished shot #26 and it's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but he plans to do at least 48 weeks, possibly 72 if tolerable.
Avatar m tn The following day after arriving home, I felt ill with a dreadful cold which started to panick me as HIV most common symtom is flu. Along with the flu came real dry lips which even to this day I have struggled to shake off although The flu disappeared within a week and all was fine until I got what looked to be thrush symptoms in my mouth about 18 days later. It's a slight yellow/green colour on my tongue and inflamed taste buds at the back But there is no pain.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. The important information in your question is the negative results of your HIV tests. Test results always overrule symptoms and exposure history. Even if you had a high risk exposure (you did not, since oral sex rarely if ever transmits HIV and hand-genital contact for sure is zero risk) and if your symptoms were typical for ARS (they are not), your negative test results prove for sure you do not have HIV.
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar n tn it would involve switching docs and medical facilities (the folks i'm seeing now don't believe in extension unless there is a co-infection with B or HIV or something else) and a lot of hassle, and i'm not sure i coud even arrange it, but i don't want to relapse.....what do you make of the significance of the elevating ALT despite undetectable virus in the blood?
Avatar m tn Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), AIDS affects nearly seven times more African Americans and three times more Hispanics than whites. How is HIV transmitted? HIV is spread most commonly by having unprotected sex with an infected partner. The virus can enter the body through the lining of the vagina, vulva, penis, rectum, or mouth during sex. HIV also is spread through contact with infected blood.
Avatar m tn Remeber we don't say everyone should treat, we say in certain cases because the alternative in these cases is active hepatitis. Also, alot of the treatment for HepB is acutally from the HIV model. HIV combination treatment is the norm for the same reason, to prevent resistance. And it has been successful for many many years. For HIV, the alternative is a rather quick death. jhakas: "liver pain" is commonly reported for those sith chronic HepB.
Avatar n tn I can't say whether the risk of acquiring HIV, if exposed, is elevated after the sort of dental procedure you describe. If this has been studied or any data are available, I am unaware of it. I don't know what you mean by "naked gum"; if there was an open sore, the risk might be elevated, but if the gum had healed over, there shouldn't be a problem. Even with open lesions on th bums, if there is any increased risk at all, it is a good bet to be small.
Avatar m tn Right now i live in Japan and some Japanese medicine has some bad rep - the doctor wouldnt give me cream for my warts but instead some powder to drink - apparently to give my body more power. I dont have faith in it. Anybody heard of this?? The packet says P72 Yokuinin. To be honest i just want some cream. 2. Transmission worrys - do the presence of warts increase transmission rate? 3.
Avatar m tn Had serum hep back in 1970 due to behaviors that were more accepted at the time, before HIV and other life changing diseases came on the scene.Nuff said.So far, the biggest challenge is drinking all that water but if that is the price to pay, bring it on.Very aware of sun restrictions so I will tailor my life around that.Good support here with answers to questions. Personally,I find my relationship with my higher power, who I choose to call GOD to be a source of strength.
Avatar n tn My problem is, i had unprotected sex 16 months back after that i had taken 3 months indian based medicine (Siddda treatment) for hiv with out confirmation of +ve or -ve, due to fear of hiv, after one year of window period i had taken WB bolt test that is _ve for all bonds and Elisa Test are nagative but my doubt is there any medicine to have the power of suppressing the virus and prolong to window period , is it hiding the virus and showing the nagitive result or else basically am not infec
Avatar f tn Having an undetectable viral load when on HIV treatment (ART) dramatically reduces the risk of transmission. How low this risk becomes is still being studied, but some researcher think that in practice this risk gets very close to zero. The ways that science works means that no one can ever prove that tranmission is not possible. This is because science can never prove “a negative” – ie that somethinng will NEVER happen. Some people would find even a tiny theoretical risk would be too high.
Avatar m tn Please get over your fear of HIV testing. Testing does not give a person HIV but it does give them the power to know what is going on and whether or not they have the infection. Most (over 99%) tests are negative and if you were so unfortunate as to have HIV, the test would allow you to seek life prolonging treatment sooner. There is no reason to delay or avoid HIV testing. I am confident that your test will be negative. Please prove it to yourself.
181575 tn?1250202386 This little methyl group meant the difference in renal toxicity that made tenofovir a blockbuster in HIV and now also coming up in HBV, while poor Adefovir was dying in HIV development and was schlepped to an underdosed ( because of the renal toxicity) semipale existence in HBV teatment. Any beginning resistance to Adefovir ( which has about 30% breakthrough after 5 years of use, as you probably know) prepares for a future resistance to Tenofovir, becouse of its chemical similarity.

Avatar m tn 1st There has never been a case of transmission trhough mutual masturbation, 2nd HIV needs an special enviroment (air tight) for trasnmision to happen the virus infection power is almost vanished as soon as teh virus is in contact, with air, heat, light, ect. 3rd Kissing is zero risk it doesnt matter if you had kissed hiv positive draculina. If you cant control your fear then look for a therapist to help you cope with this.

Avatar m tn 1st reading is pre treatment each is one month apart.
Avatar m tn Most tests are negative and if you were so unfortunate as to have HIV (most unlikely in your case), the test would allow you to seek treatment sooner. There is no reason to delay or avoid HIV testing. You however, instead of confronting the issue directly are approaching it indirectly, obtaining CD4 counts which are non-specific and can b e abnormal for an enormous number of reasons. The good news for you is that your CD4 counts have now been normal twice.
