Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, I live in san francisco. From your opinions i have received, you have classified it as no risk. My primary care doctor said low risk. So my brain needed to test for peace of mind. This happened on mar 12. I went into ucsf's ahp on mar.26. They did antibody and an rna exam which apparently looks for virus. I just called and the rna came back negative. The rapid was negative on the 26th. Can i believe these results?
Avatar f tn Thanks for ur reply, I can't do the test here coz if it comes positive then I will be deported from dubai forever. I have to go back to my country for the test. Is it really necessary? And according to san francisco health center chances are only 0.06%.

Avatar n tn I had an HIVA PCR test the 28th day after potential exposure. The woman I was with is a co-worker who is married and swears she has never had other partners nor has her husband but I am having all kinds of symptoms. I am also married with much to risk. I know I am so stupid, the guilt is unreal. My question is, I have had soar throat, swollen lymph nodes, stomach aches and headaches non-stop. My question is, are the results to the PCR test reliable? I don't want to harm my wife.
Avatar m tn She sought medical help, but because I am not as forthcoming as I could be, she didn't test for HIV. She was prescribed an antibiotic (I don't know which). One of the possible side effects of this drug was hives, which she ended up getting I think a few days after starting. She was switched to a different antiotic, and the problem went away. Later woman A performed oral sex on me without incident.
Avatar n tn Hello, i took Hiv 1/2+P24 test called AxSym and Vidas Hiv Duo Ultra within 12,13 weeks and came back negative. Also, took PCR for HIV 1 at 35th day was also negative. But, i'm scared for HIV 2 type of virus because the girl was African. It was protected but she made oral sex to me. Do you know this period is ok to screen this virus or should i wait until six months. Because, one of our doctor is said HIV 2 type of virus needs 6 months window period.

936016 tn?1332769204 An interesting boost to the notion that as many people as possible should be tested for HIV so that they can discuss treatment possibilities was presented at the 17th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (abstract 33).
Avatar n tn it was negative. I have repeated the same test at the 36th day after risk exposure: always negative. In your opinion, I must repeat the test? Also, I read the STD risk chart of san Francisco city Clinic and there cunnilingus should not be at risk for HIV. But other European countries, like Italy, they consider risky. I do not know what to think and what to do. Can I stop worrying? Thank you for your attention. I trust in your response.
Avatar n tn Calif AIDS Hotline Minnesota AIDS Hotline GMHC Hotline Dr. Joel Gallant Aidsmeds.com San Francisco City Clinic They all agree in theory HIV transmission is possible with the right elements such as blood in the mouth of the giver. Also, I think that HIV education needs to wake up about one thing: circumcized men are in the MINORITY worldwide. Even in the United States, there is a substantial minority of uncircumsized men. Let's not forget that.

Avatar n tn this is from cdc guidelines Most infected persons will develop detectable HIV antibody within 3 months of exposure (126). If the initial negative HIV test was conducted within the first 3 months after exposure, repeat testing should be considered >3 months after the exposure occurred to account for the possibility of a false-negative result. If the follow-up test is nonreactive, the client is likely not HIV-infected.

Avatar f tn I have not had sex in over a year , however I have suddenly found myself in a panic , losing sleep thinking what if my test results come back positive for HIV or syphilis for example. I guess there is guilt coming out that I postponed blood work for so long . I consider myself fairly well read regarding stds, was always great about getting my urine checked for stds (no history of stds from those checks), received my pap smears accordingly , but bloodwork was one test I always feared.
