Common Questions and Answers about Hiv symptoms virus

hiv

Avatar n tn Hep C lives quietly for many years often with no symptoms or symptoms that appear to be caused by other things and unless caught earlier, it doesn't show symptoms until liver damage is advanced. You'll notice many people here saying they've had it for 20+ years and only diagnosed in the last few years or less. Incidentally, I had a blood transfusion in 1984 so that is one of my risk factors and I was diagnosed in 2006 .. and my situation is not unusual. Hope that helps.
936016 tn?1332769204 Many of the questions we answer on this Forum and also the Freedomhealth Sexual Health Forum relate to anxiety about HIV and also possible early HIV symptoms. One of the main problems in relying on HIV symtoms themselves is that they are notoriously vague and almost all the symptoms may in fact be symptoms of a different disease. The best method always of diagnosing HIV is to have a modern HIV test.
Avatar m tn considering your eye symptoms. for your eye/brain symptoms eye doctor is not who you need, rather Neurologist. you need to take everything to Neurology / Immunology / Infectivology @ a large university hospital.

Avatar m tn I obviously seem to have a virus, and it seems to have been triggered by stress and cigarette smoking. What worries me is I don't know if it a regular virus or the HIV virus.... the symptoms to me sound like ARS.... sore throat and fever usually come with a runny nose or something. I don't think I have seen a rash yet, though there may have been some redness on my forehead earlier. I am confused, because what other virus would cause these specific symptoms??
Avatar n tn You don't diagnose HIV by symptoms. HIV has no specific symptoms. Your HIV test will be conclusive at 3 months post exposure.
936016 tn?1332769204 It lasts about two to three months, though the symptoms will last for a shorter period. Seroconversion is also known as acute HIV infection. The symptoms of an HIV infection are often described as ‘flu-like,’ the most common are fever and chills, swollen glands, a sore throat (with or without ulcers), anaemia and rash, particularly on the upper body.
Avatar n tn DNA PCR after 28 days is conclusive because it directly looks for the virus and HIV replicates in millions every day so if you really had the virus in your body, A 28 days + DNA test would have been showing you "detectable" with a viral load in some MILLIONS but thats not the case because, you don't have the virus in your body 100 % 3. UNDERSTAND THIS VERY WELL YOU HAVE NO REASON TO RETEST, YOU'RE IN THE CLEAR, YOU ARE 100 % HIV NEGATIVE 4.
Avatar m tn Hi I would like to ask about is it possible for HIV symptoms occur after 7 weeks expose to unprotected sex?
Avatar n tn When I insert my finger I can feel the bump inside. If I have catch the virus can this be an early symptoms of HIV? Please reply, really need your help and expertise..
Avatar n tn What was my chance of catching HIV? Do these symptoms sound serious? I have had a test done for hiv and results are back in 6 days. Help please?
Avatar n tn You have a good understanding of the timing of the ARS and the subsequent time course of HIV infection. However, you have seemed to missed our repeated statements that the symptoms of the ARS are TOTALLY non-specific and when people experience "ARS symptoms" they are much more likely to have something else, usually some other, more typical virus infection.
Avatar m tn HIV is a delicate virus which transmits through the practice of unprotected vaginal/ anal sex or the sharing of needles, you HAVE NO RISK OF HIV,
Avatar m tn In less than a week I developed viral-type symptoms (fatigue, headache, sweating, chills, etc.) Is it possible to develop hiv symptoms in less than a week after exposure?
Avatar n tn I have read that there is a test, Orasure , which is HIV test, based on oral fluid, it means that there are HIV virus in the oral saliva, then doesn´t this mean that HIV can be transmitted easily other than sexual contact
Avatar m tn No fever even though I have felt like I might have one. Unclear why I have these symptoms which seem to align with HIV.
Avatar m tn hiv virus is a fragile virus that gets inactive when exposed outside the host body...
Avatar n tn //www.medhelp.org/forums/HIV---Prevention/show/117 Above this, please be aware of this facts : HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host, except under laboratory conditions. HIV does not survive in the open air.
Avatar f tn As or right now my throat is killing me, i have a headache, i feel extremely tired, my body is aching, and my lymph nodes are all swollen. I guess my question is, once someone aquires HIV do they get spouts of symptoms that last for weeks at a time, or do they only get the symptoms right after exposure? Thanks for your help and time!
1436894 tn?1283747124 Before I begin, if you are sexual active, and/or having unprotected sex with multiple partners, you probably should have an HIV and STD screen twice a year. However, this doesn't sound like HIV one bit. I went through a phase like this when I was 19. I stayed home all the time, and stayed up all night playing games on the internet, and didn't wake up until about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, sometimes 3.
Avatar m tn anxiety and stress can be causing your symptoms, best way is to get tested even at 6 to 8 weeks . symptoms arn't always reliable at indicating the virus as for me i had rash fever white tongue and tested over 4 months negative . i believe most of it was from the stress and anxiety .
Avatar m tn As you can imagine these symptoms that have persisted for 10 weeks are making me worried I may have contracted an STD, with all symptoms pointing to HIV. Could my instant next day groin pain and subsequent 'symptoms' be down to anxiety? Any helpful response would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn The symptoms you describe don't sound at all like HIV, and in any case HIV symptoms cannot come on less than 7-10 days after exposure. Almost cerrtainly you caught a cold, either during that event (if you're close enough to have sex, you can catch a respiratory virus from someone) or from someone else. Colds are common at all times of year, not just in the winter. The most common cause of oral ulcers is a canker sore, which can be triggered by colds or other infections.
Avatar n tn Sorry this is not the drs forum, but unprotected sex does place yu at some risk, since you are worried the only way to know is getting tested, the symptoms are useless and meaningless sice they are way to common and only 50% of infected people got symptoms, and they probably got them from other virus rather than hiv.
Avatar n tn Unprotected sex would warrant testing 2. The symptoms that you describe is too unspecific when it comes to HIV. HIV ARS rash is not itchy and most of the time it appears on the trunk of the body, swelling of nodes associated with HIV is not painful, fever associated with the virus is very high and doesn't subside within matter of few hours. Also, ARS symptoms show up together and subsides all at once. 3.
Avatar n tn Your PCR result is an expensive way to gain additional confidence that you do not have HIV. As far as your symptoms are concerned, you may have missed our repeated statements that the symptoms of the ARS are TOTALLY non-specific and when people experience "ARS symptoms" they are much more likely to have something else, usually some other, more typical virus infection.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms do not seem HIV related! What was your risk? All symptoms usually appear at the same time 2-4 weeks after exposure you may get a Fever, Rash, Swollen Lymph Nodes, Thrush in mouth, you may get all or one of these ARS symptoms, you might not get any of these symptoms until years later! If your worrying about this get tested for peace of mind! Stress and anxiety is horrible and may cause all of your symptoms as it weakens you immune system.
