Avatar m tn Understand you would consider me low risk, it's just my big anxiety is over getting the jaw pain and rash (I NEVER get rashes) and the timing of getting them. Have you ever heard of a one sided HIV rash in two very seperate and distinct spots? My understanding is it can occur almost anywhere and in a variety of forms but this is not where it is classicly located.
Avatar m tn Also, at what stage in the illness does Tinea typically occur in HIV positive people? What makes HIV tinea different from common tinea? Hmm, I think that's all my questions. Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn No offense but googling it provides a lot of info, i did so after reading your post. Also, they might be a htlv forum on medhelp. It states the disease is a cousin of hiv and that it effects t-cells, causes oi's, mostly effects blacks & Aboriginies populations, around 30% if they engage in iv drug use. Common in New Orleans. It seems more a drug related senario than through sexual intercourse as far as transmission goes. No cure...
Avatar f tn HHH has put it, properly used condoms are 100% effective, so the episode of sex you describe simply couldn't have resulted in an HIV transmission, in my opinion.

Avatar m tn I have monitored my temperature as well, and have not noticed a fever. From what I've read, it seems that a high fever/rash is the most common hiv symptom. Is there a percentage that can be linked with the having a fever? I have also read that many have no symptoms. Do you believe that many actually don't have symptoms, or that they just don't connect them with hiv?
Avatar n tn Our views, opinion, and advice are always virtually identical, even if our wording and styles differ from one another. You had an exposure that could not have resulted in HIV transmission -- condoms work and oral sex is no risk, or such low risk it can be ignored.

Avatar m tn I've had symptoms since 5 days after possible infection ( 3rd of march ) like dry mouth, itchy skin with red spots ( lasted for 3 days only ). No rash. I've been passing gas in a dry/flatulent mode since the 3rd. I've only had 1 watery stool/diarrhea which was last weekend. Nothing has happened more since then. Anyhow, I feel like my result will come back positive for sure. The odds are just not in my favor=( Any help in what type of medication works the best with african americans?
223152 tn?1346981971 Most people get a Riba rash, specially if they get some sun. Some people will get a Telaprevir rash and most in that group will get a rash that can be treated with steroidal cream. Susan400 treated with an over the counter cream, so we can't say she couldn't be treated and had to stop Telaprevir. She stopped because she had a breakthrough due to the lack of Riba. Both drugs are significant improvement over SOC and both can have serious side effects.
806995 tn?1265826776 I know my liver isn't into that good a state. It will be monitored closely in the time to come. Hopefully, the fact that my HIV is now UND will make the detoriation less. But for now, it's the end if this battle of my little private war. And I'm gonna enjoy my vacation as much as I can.
163305 tn?1333672171 Side effects include anemia, a concern because ribavirin already lowers blood hemoglobin levels, she said. Also, telaprevir appears to cause rash in more than 50% of patients. Instead, a "dream regimen" is a simple one with fewer pills, contains only oral agents, spans all genotypes, and is highly effective with an excellent safety and tolerability profile -- though that possibility is not that far from reality, Rodriguez-Torres said.
Avatar n tn Until the person reaches this point there are only educated guesses This is only reliable in the face of supportive care only. In other words no heroics. And an accurate assessment of level of consciousness may be skewed in the presence of drugs used to make the person comfortable. However, there is validity to the premise that pain will actually keep you alive longer, and it's always an ongoing challenge to find the balance of pain and/or anxiety control.
