Avatar m tn Hello, I'm really scared I have HIV or some kind of STD. It's been 6 weeks since the "exposure". I am a male, and I had protected anal sex with my first guy (I was the top). After 2 mins of "penetration" (I put it in quotes because I really didn't pump as much), I didn't like it. So I pulled out. But when I pulled out, my urethra (or pee hole) was wider than before. Did you the condom break? or pop? I didn't feel it pop or break. We used a lube-based condom.
Avatar f tn that he or she had HIV; that s/he bled onto them; that enough wet blood remained behind so HIV could survive; that your pierced ear skin was damaged by putting the earrings on; and that enough virus could have gotten into your system even if all those things happened. The odds against all these things are simply impossible. Also, you may not know that ear piercings are lined with intact skin (once healing is complete a few weeks after the piercing). HIV could not enter your system that way.

Whatever the reason, the risk is so low that some experts believe there is no risk at all.

Avatar m tn Drinking to the point that you black out is a greater risk for other things than for HIV. As for your HIV/STI risk., it is low. Most commercial sex workers do not have HIV or other STIs (in fact, in general rates of STIs and HIV are lower in CSWs than in casual partners who you might pick up in a bar- bad for business) and most exposures to not lead to infection. I would not worry. Testing for routine STIs is reasonable but unless you develop symptoms, probably not essential.
Avatar m tn This HIV test is known as the 'Duo' because it tests for both HIV antibodies as well as the 'HIV P24 antigen'. It will then fluctuate over the rest of the course of the illness.
