I went for testing and the (blood test) results showed that I am HIV-1 and HIV-2 AB negative, hepatitis C negative, and the RPR was nonreactive. HSV AB IgM was not detected, HSV-1 IgG was nonreactive (0.03, index <0.90), and HSV-2 was nonreactive (0.08, index <0.90).
My question is: Why would the swabbed lesion sent for DFA show positive for HSV-1 and my blood work show no HSV antibodies? I thought DFA was very accurate. Is it possible for VZV to be mistaken for HSV?

from the immense amount of reading i have done on the web, diarrhea is one of the symptoms but i have also read that the hiv symptoms do not occur in singles, so u'd have a lot of other symptoms also together, but i 'd let one of the doctors confirm it for you.

I am a gay from Chengdu China, where many HIV positive gay men there. for years i followed the instructions from Dr. on this site, believing protected anal sex is safe. in sept. of 2018 i had the Duo test at 25 days and it's negative. During that exposure, he rubbed his penis against my anus, trying to get in. I noticed his intention and stopped him. Then he wore a condom and we had sex for several minutes. Because I doubt him, I stopped it. He didn’t cum and the condom was not broke.
I am a 35 year old white heterosexual male who has had 5 sexual partners since my last full panel STD test (including HIV) a few years ago. The test results back then were only a positive for HSV-1 and negative for all the rest. I have had an HIV test (negative) about a year ago but since then have had 3 partners. 3. Some pimple lie bumps appears on my cheek in a patch. Usually I have very clear skin. I applied Benzoyl Peroxide. The "zit like" bumps are gone only one day later. Replaced by red, swollen skin where the Benzoyl Peroxide was applied. Almost like it was sunburned.
This question concerns my 35 year old brother
8 years ago he was in a california state mental hospital, as an inpatient, and had a single incident of unprotective penetrative vaginal sex with a female patient who was confirmed hiv positive. The female knew she was positive, and I believe was taking anti viral medication as she was an inpatient at the facility. This is where I get a little fuzzy with my memory because it happened 8 years ago.

I am in my late 50s, DWM, heterosexual. Married over 25 years prior to my divorce. This singles thing and dealing with te emergence of HIV/AIDS has me spooked.
I started a new relationship in with a medical profesional, DWF early 50s, several kids, not promiscious. Before we had unprotected sex for the first time 11/18/11 she assured me that she is HIV negative, had been tested, and had been with no one else since long term boyfriend three months before, who is a physician.
My husband has been tested for herpes and he is negative, I was positive. I have been with my husband for ten years so, highly unlikely that if I had herpes he wouldn't have caught it. I guess what my question is, is it shingles or is it herpes or is it some other random skin rash. Would a herpes simplex test reflect the herpes zoster virus as well? I have all of the shingles symptoms, rashes on the right side of my buttocks, the pain, outbreaks lasting two to three weeks.
During the three months I prepared for being positive and am the type of person that if it had been positive I would have to share that with any future partner. So it bothers me that my ex is not doing this and I feel compelled to do something.

Not sure what you're asking. Once a person is HIV+, they will always be positive. A positive person who has unprotected intercourse with ANYONE, pregnant or not...can infect that person.
Having unprotected sex with a positive person is always a risk, but will not DEFINITELY result in that person getting infected.
