Common Questions and Answers about Hiv drugs

hiv

Avatar n tn This incident took place on July 5th, and yesterday, October 5th, I had a rapid result HIV test (orasure or something like that) and it came back negative, which was a release of course, but now I have read conflicting reporst about whether immunospresive drugs can influence the results of HIV tests--the nurse told me no drugs interfere with the test, but might 3 months be too early to test on immunosupressive drugs? Can I rely on this test? Someone please help me.
Avatar n tn You did not touch this person so you could not have gotten HIV. Rest assured. Now on to your question. HIV is present in blood. Introduction of HIV into an uninfected person's blood with a needle or through a cut therefore can introduce the virus into the uninfected person to cause infection in them. Any intermediate device such as a contaminated (with blood) cooker or other drug paraphernalia could do the same. Blood on the surface of intact skin is minimally infectious, if at all.

Avatar m tn 4 Would being underweight have any impact on hiv window period? 5 Would a mild seroconversion mean a longer hiv window period?
Avatar m tn Not an HIV concern.
Avatar m tn Well, it seems like there is no other cause than genes to this (probably), but since I really dont like being this underweight, are there any drugs that could help me gain weight (in other words eat more/ slow metabolism). Like some steroids or something? Again, I have tried the "eat more" thing, but it doesnt seem to work very well. At first I do gain weight, but I get pretty bad diarrhea ETC. from eating too much.

Maybe in the mental health forum there is.
Avatar m tn There are many new drugs now in clinical trials. I am going to post some presentation titles and some very concise notes under each title. To view each study/trial results, go to Clinical Care Options, Register (you may have to say you are a doctor or nurse), and then you can read the full articles. They are free. You just have to register. http://www.clinicaloptions.com/Hepatitis/Conference%20Coverage.
Avatar n tn Find a respectable "Naturalist/Nutricionist" and ask about "Eclipta Tablets", then investigate "Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy". The h2o2 treatments are also being used for HIV, CANCER, AND ARTHRITIS. Do your homework and you will find the answers.
Avatar m tn Firstly thank you for taking my questions. Background first. On the 10th of December 2009 I visted a CSW for an erotic massage, she was naked and rubbed oil all over her inc b/n her legs. She then gave me a brief massage and a hand job during which time she sat on my leg and I could feel her wetness. My penis did not go near her vagina or mouth. A week following this incident I developed what looked like acute thrush on the tip of my penis.
Avatar m tn While checking my Achillon stock prices I read an interesting article in Seeking Alpha. It seems somebody thinks the new HCV drugs will be effective against HIV. http://seekingalpha.com/article/1272281-achillion-a-tiny-biopharmaceutical-stock-with-tremendous-potential?source=yahoo comments?
Avatar n tn There are few if any medical therapies that affect the reliability of HIV testing. The only drugs that might do so are very potent immunosuppressive drugs in high doses, or potent chemotherapy of the sort used for widespread cancer. Even those are theoretical only, with few if any actually documented cases of interference with HIV diagnosis. Now I have read the question itself.

Avatar f tn No one got HIV from touching or oral activities in 40 years of HIV history, so likely no one will in the next 40 years of your life either. Your HIV test was a waste of time, and further testing for a no irsk event would be abnormal.
