Avatar n tn Ejaculation does not matter when it comes to HIV or STD's. Get tested for HIV 3 months post exposure. Also test for some STD's now. And use condoms all the time, everytime.
Avatar n tn I would check an HIV/AIDS support forum. This here's for HCV folk. Please excuse me if you do have HCV, just wasn't sure by the sounds of your post. But as was mentioned above, candida (yeast) is the cause of oral thrush most...all?... of the time, so maybe you should check that out. Good luck finding your answers!
Avatar m tn How did he know that he got HIV? Did he get the HIV test after he found out she died of AIDS? Did he put his wife at risk of HIV?
936016 tn?1332769204 Many of the questions we answer on this Forum and also the Freedomhealth Sexual Health Forum relate to anxiety about HIV and also possible early HIV symptoms. One of the main problems in relying on HIV symtoms themselves is that they are notoriously vague and almost all the symptoms may in fact be symptoms of a different disease. The best method always of diagnosing HIV is to have a modern HIV test.

480448 tn?1426952138 I am very honored to be a regular contributor on the HIV Prevention Forum here at MH. The forum is very busy, and we often get the same inquiries over and over. I figured that putting together a journal entry covering the most popular topics, and just laying out the facts may be helpful. I also invite Lizzie Lou and Teak to share their thoughts, and to cover anything I may have missed.
Avatar m tn Hi, my ocd is putting me through pure hell, I have had hiv ocd for about 15 months now, I have had 15 tests in the last 15 months, my fear no is I took my friends seven year old daughter for a walk with the dog, we was throwing a stick to the dog and it landed in some plastic, I got paranoid that the plastic may have been hiv contaminated, I went back and checked plastic later on , I got it into my head then that she could have touched a discarded needle in the park, I went back to the park and
Avatar f tn After a while it ate at me and ate at me and ate at me, to the point my fear had gotten so bad i was vomiting daily from bad nerves thinking i was infected from someone who was suppose to help prevent HIV. I called the Aids project who put on the walk and asked them about the lancets (before this incident i had no idea what a lancet even was) and they told me all their lancets were single use and i had nothing to worry about. Still. I cant let it go.
Avatar m tn You've even gone so far as to say you hope i become hiv positive and that i deserved to be exposed to aids man-that's a helpful thing to say to a forum member. People with hiv have some kind of rite to infect people if they choose-is that the logic behind your previous statements? That's the problem with hiv- all it takes for someone to make your life worthless is a vindictive action.
Avatar m tn - but recently, I've been plagued by severe HIV anxiety. It all started when I read an article in the paper about local HIV/AIDs rates in my home state. I've lived an extremely safe life - only two sex partners in long-term, monogamous relationships - but I did engage in unsafe sex a few times with my ex-girlfriend. The chance of having HIV - however miniscule - played on my mind.
Avatar n tn It's a typical reaction /deflection from a gay male....."it's an everyone disease". It isn't. Many people on the front lines will attest to this behind closed doors. I know this firsthand. The doc here just states the facts in the open and I have great respect for him for doing so. Sure, if you want to look at the situation worldwide, Africa has many more heterosexuals getting HIV than North America...but this is not Africa, and the conditions for transmission are very different.
Avatar m tn I read this article on google news today. It sounds very promising. http://www.welt.de/english-news/article2715739/HIV-patient-cured-by-marrow-transplant.
Avatar m tn Well the time has just about arrived for the over the counter HIV rapid tests--this will encourage more people to test and infection rates will obviously go down--I congratulate the FDA and the Obama administration--by the way--I look forward to President Obamas second term in office--he will win by a country mile.
1024580 tn?1331577721 Romero and others, in their article describing an excellent and diligent long term study failed to identify any risk at all in transfer of HIV from an HIV positive to an HIV negative partner through oral sex. In total 19000 episodes of oral sex were documented amongst 135 heterosexual couples over ten years and in 34% of these episodes the HIV positive male ejaculated into the HIV negative females' mouth. (Romero J et al.
Avatar f tn Maybe once you get past this, you could volunteer to do a few free massages for people with HIV or AIDS. The touch of another person can work miracles.
Avatar m tn The HIV test kit manufacturers usually contribute to the spread of those misleading infos. To promote testing. Also , people are confusing HIV and aids. When I first searched the net for HIV symptoms I got things like hair loss and memory loss with lack of apatite. Any human being suffers hair loss. And most busy people have hazy memories.
Avatar n tn Have you ever considered taking a class.........not in HIV PREVENTION, but in HIV EDUCATION? I think if you had a better understanding of just how difficult it actually is to contract HIV, that, more than any test, would allay your fears. Knowledge is power and I think you could use some of that in your life right now. But to gain knowledge, we must seek education. Instead of taking another test, take a class. You do NOT have HIV.
Avatar m tn If you are still unwilling or unable to accept this, then you need to get into therapy to deal with your health anxiety issues. I would also recommend that you get yourself educated about HIV/AIDS. Simple ignorance is feeding your anxiety. (Ignorant does NOT mean "stupid." Check dictionary) Words to calm you down, which you've already received...............
Avatar n tn The counselor told me they were only about 95% reliable and I might have to wait a year. Back then, if you got HIV you got AIDs quickly and most people with AIDs died. It was scary and in the Bronx it almost felt apocalyptic. Many black and Latino men like myself were bisexual but knew nothing about how to prevent infection, and had no way of getting info on it.
Avatar m tn i really dnt know if its aids like disease occurrs then why hiv results comming back negative.researchers said its a aids like disease aids phobia.i really dnt know jemma i m gonna get merry with my love within afew months after.she is waiting for me.i m really really really upset. Some of Researchers said this disease is spreading to family members by saliva and eating food in same dish and somes Researchers are saying its not spreading to family.
Avatar n tn I just keep replaying the day I will walk into the doctor's office for my test results and he/she will say "YOU TESTED POSITIVE". My boyfriend reassured me I had nothing the first time I got tested (for genital herpes) and I was freaking out. Then once I had calmed down and went in for my results, the result of the swab was positive for HSV-1 (even though when the doctor looked at it she said it "didn't look at all like herpes, just a rash).
Avatar f tn I didn't' just walk into the AIDS clinic, plop myself down and start reading a magazine. My psychologist went with me the first time and MADE me touch the magazines, MADE me sit in the chair. It was pretty easy for her to come because it was just upstairs. After that, it was me and something I had to overcome. With you, it will be baby steps as well. It is a process that happens over time.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think I have contracted HIV, I am showing all the symptoms. I know I should get tested and I already scheduled an appointemnt to test. The issue is that I have probably contracted HIV in a moment of druken weakness with some woman I met in bar. I am also in a 10 year old relationship with what must be the best woman on earth. I love her deeply. My dileemma is what should I do if I am +.
Avatar m tn Also health care workers have voiced concerns similar to yours, but to my knowledge the actual occurrence of such incidents leading to HIV is either rare or completely nonexistent. HIV can live in dried blood at room temperature for up to 7 days, but I've never heard of anyone catching the virus that way. Here's an article on HIV's ability to survive outside the human body, if that's helpful http://www.aidsmap.
Avatar f tn Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including diseases transmitted by genital secretions, and to a lesser degree, genital ulcer diseases. Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases, e.g.
Avatar m tn There are a few articles on its use for people with HIV/AIDS, it may be something you want to discuss with your doctor.
Avatar n tn We/Mass/America doesnt want HIV/AIDS to spread any more than it has. Has anyone heard of anyone being neg at 6 weeks and then later turning pos?? Why would MASS state something soooo important if it was not true???
