Common Questions and Answers about Hiv aids viral load

aids

Avatar f tn I need to know what herbs can reduce the viral load? Secondly, for a viral load of 195,000 and CD4 Count of 209, can one start ARV treatment?
Avatar n tn thanks a lot that was very helpful. could please answer one more question? would there be a difference between someone taking medication to reduce the viral load to undetectable levels after being diagnosed with aids and someone who has been taking medication to keep viral loads under control all along without progressing to aids at all?
317787 tn?1473358451 Having an undetectable viral load greatly lowers the chance that a person living with HIV can transmit the virus to a partner, but there is still some risk. “Viral load” refers to the amount of HIV in an infected person’s blood. An “undetectable viral load” is when the amount of HIV in a person’s blood is so low that it can’t be measured. antiretroviral therapy (ART) reduces a person’s viral load, ideally to an undetectable level, when taken consistently and correctly.
Avatar n tn your viral load can be undectable. real low. there are many new infection with hiv with a undectable viral load, that is why the antibody test is used for diagnosis. you can have antibodies and be undectable. i know that terrible, but true.
Avatar m tn Doesn't matter what stage or what their viral load is. HIV is not transmitted by kissing, French or otherwise.
Avatar m tn Remember, we are measuring blood levels, not what is happening in liver cells. HIV viral load does have a lot to do with quicker progression to AIDS. But HCV viral load does not tell you how fast hepatitis is progressing. http://www.webmd.com/hepatitis/c-hcv-viral-load As Copyman said, VL can fluctuate wildly so don't let that confuse you into thinking that it has anything to with the disease progression. Knowing the stage of fibrosis you have is what determines that.
Avatar m tn Is there such a thing called Viral load in Saliva?
Avatar m tn Just don't do it and you won't become a statistic.
Avatar f tn Unlike HIV, HCV viral copies do not directly affect a patient's prognosis and how fast disease is progressing in the liver. Remember, we are measuring blood levels, not what is happening in liver cells. HIV viral load does have a lot to do with quicker progression to AIDS. But HCV viral load does not tell you how fast hepatitis is progressing. I suggest you read the rest of the article. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Only with sex or much blood(and if on meds and very low viral load even the sex and blood risk much lower) there is a slight risk. I really hope you will act with respect as having hiv is already a big burden.
Avatar m tn There are other tests recommended for people living with HIV and those tests are PCR viral load and CD4 count tests, helpful for the doctors to keep a follow up on the progression and monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment. However to answer your question, antibodies will still remain detectable even if the person is at AIDS stage.

Avatar m tn Oops -- I missed that your partner is HIV positive. Sorry! Is she on treatment for HIV? If so, there probably is little risk of transmitting the virus even by unprotected vaginal sex, especially if the amount of virus in her blood (which is called "viral load") is low. Has her viral load been tested recently? As I said, there has never been a case of HIV reported which scientifically shown to result from kissing.
Avatar f tn -( Would you recommend to actually do the Viral Load and a third HIV antibodi at 6 months??
Avatar m tn Your friend has overt AIDS, and not being on treatment probable very high viral load and maximally infectious. Oral to genital transmission still very unlikely, but I would avoid any sex at all, or only with condoms. With only oral and fingering, your risk is very low, but probably not zero.
Avatar m tn And teak said that he have aids but with undetectable viral load is it because he is on meds or otherwise his viral load would be detectable? And why scientists keeps saying that HIV 2 is rare while people travel and can spread the virus everywhere geographically and not only in Africa?
Avatar n tn Beyond the diagnosis of overt AIDS, the important information is whether she is on anti-HIV drugs; and how much HIV is in her blood, i.e. the result of a viral load test. If she is being treated and has an undetectable or very low viral load, there would be little or no risk even with unprotected intercourse. If you do it, you probably would not be infected. But common sense says there is no point in taking the chance.
Avatar m tn nothing to share with hiv, hbv is very well studied, hiv is still not purified so i dotn even believe hiv/aids connection as many nobel prices, the discoverer montagner included, have recently decleared also be aware the hbvdna viral load is useless to define the status of hbv infection and is just a measure of how antivirals are working (drug makers just pushed on it in the past to make it eaier to get patients on life time drugs) but today we know that serum tests dont show what happens in t
Avatar m tn I really can't see why you can't have e relationship with someone who is HIV negative. I'm HIV poz on medication . Undetectable viral load . The guy you had oral sex with is probably safer having safe sex and oral sex with than some one he dosnt know the status of. Some newley infected is very infectious. You seem perfectly healthy. Don't let the HIV rule you're life.
Avatar m tn Hi there - Someone asked me to check this out, and I agree that there is no cure for HIV. An undetectable viral load doesn't mean you don't have HIV, and you can still transmit it if you have unprotected vaginal or anal sex, or share needles for drug use. If there are questions about your HIV status, then make sure to get the confirmatory test Dr. Santos mentions, the Western Blot, if you haven't already.
Avatar m tn Hello Doctor, I've gone back and forth about asking a question on here, but I've decided to go for it. I'm 23 years old, a professional, and just entered into a relationship with a 26-year-old well-educated professional. We had the STD status discussion before we did anything, and we both assured one another that we were negative across the board.
