Hiv aids untreated

Common Questions and Answers about Hiv aids untreated

Avatar m tn People get infected with STDs, (this includes HIV the virus that can lead to AIDS) by having unprotected insertive vaginal/anal sex. Weather her vagina is dry or not, still puts one at risk for STDs. Finally, to answer your last question, ADIS comes from a patient being untreated for HIV infection. Who of course either had unprotected vagainal/anal sex with an infected partner. Shared needles with an infected person, or it was passed on from mother to child.
Avatar m tn I don't know how much he is right as per my knowledge hiv if left untreated then it leads to AIDS and that to after a longer period please help me with your valuable advice on the same.
Avatar n tn Hi My girlfriend lives in Orlando , is 30 now and has 2 children (6 and 3 years old). In the past she had had risky behaviors, having unprotected sex while on drugs, from 15 to 20 years old approx. 10 years have passed and her health is good, her kids too. When i asked her about aids, she was upset, accusing me to ask a "question for ******". Of course it wasn't.
Avatar n tn are they transmitted the same and do they have the same risks? Also i've been reading this board and it seems like HIV is pretty hard to catch, but if thats so why does it seem so many people have it?
Avatar m tn Basic Overview & Information on AIDS & HIV AIDS - acquired immunodeficiency syndrome - was first reported in the United States in 1981 and has since become a major worldwide epidemic. AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By killing or damaging cells of the body's immune system, HIV progressively destroys the body's ability to fight infections and certain cancers.
Avatar m tn If you watch this video I am providing a link for, you will hear that there are many cases of untreated Syphilis that are SeroNegative as well as SeroNegative HIV... You will see one of the Doctors who answers here on Medhelp.. E. Hook ..
Avatar f tn Oral sex is not a risk for HIV but it IS a risk for other sexually transmitted diseases. It is recommended that anyone who engages in oral sex should have an STD panel done every three months for prevention. And FYI, a person does not contract AIDS, they contract HIV, which left untreated, becomes AIDS. I suggest you test for STD's.
Avatar m tn AIDS is a particular syndrome associated with HIV which may develop after usually a very prolonged time - often many years. HIV is not the same as AIDS. HIV if untreated may cause AIDS eventually but the two are not the same. You did not have a risk. I don't obviously know whether she placed a used condom on you but that seems unlikely.
Avatar n tn I guess my first question would be, what is the natural progression of the (untreated) AIDS virus? Or is it based on person to person? Lastly, a question you're probably sick of, I'm sure, but please ease my mind. In my lifetime I've given 10 or 11 blowjobs, none involving condoms or ejaculation in my mouth, and most with strangers.
Avatar f tn HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. If you tested negative for HIV, you probably don't have aids. From what I've read, most literature talks about HIV and aids related to ebv because its commonly symptomatic in patients with HIV. Typically, ebv is asymptomatic (does not cause symptoms) in an otherwise healthy person. However in a person with HIV, these viruses can be dangerous. There is always a chance that a healthy person can become symptomatic with ebv.
Avatar f tn No. A risk is a risk and the only way to know your status is by testing.

Avatar m tn She says she's a virgin, and I believe her. I tested negative for HIV while giving blood in October 2007. Since then I have become sexually involved with another woman (woman B) as well. The sex has been unprotected and includes vaginal, oral & anal. Woman B says she tested negative for HIV in August 2007, and has not engaged in any risky behavior, such as sex without a condom since, before getting involved with me. I am currently involved with both women.
Avatar f tn What about Gonorrhea and HIV? Untreated gonorrhea can increase a person’s risk of acquiring or transmitting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS 16.
Avatar m tn You had both PROTECTED vaginal and oral sex. NO RISK FOR HIV OR STD's NO NEED TO TEST You can NOT contract HIV from an ingrown hair. And one does not contract "AIDS." You can acquire "HIV," which, if left untreated, will eventually become full blown AIDS. Symptoms are NEVER used to diagnose HIV and since you never had a risk, your symptoms are either being triggered by your anxiety or they are indicative of a completely unrelated underlying issue.
Avatar f tn it could have been worse.. like AIDS or HIV etc, I believe that I can lessen the reoccurring infections for me if we lived a healthier life style (my partner has no symptoms). we can still live our lives normally.. because you don't want anyone else, and I don't want anyone else. also, no matter where it came from, we have to take responsibility for our decision of sleeping together... what ever happens, you don't have to go through it alone. SO, whatever youre going through, you're not alone.
Avatar m tn HIV can not last 20 years without a sign. If left untreated, HIV can make you sick within a few years. Early treatment can prevent HIV from ever becoming full blown AIDS. And again, you NEVER had a risk.
Avatar n tn No that is not true. There are some subtypes that are more agressive and if left untreated can progress to AIDS quicker than other subtypes.
Avatar m tn i need to be 100% sure teak i just got married and plan on starting a family with my new wife i do not want to infect her i have been having many symptoms that did not start until my exposure what test is the most accurate at detecting a/e strain?
Avatar n tn Coinfection with other STDs can increase risk of transmission of HIV by up to 2 - 5 times. (Per CDC, San Francisco AIDS foundation) Fact: One can never be certain whether or not one's partner is coinfected w/ HIV and another std. (given) Conclusion: If the partner has HIV, risk of oral sex in relation to HIV infection ranges from 1 in 2000 to 1 in 10,000 for this single occurance. Therefore, chance of infection is low, but certainly not zero.
Avatar n tn It takes many years for HIV to result in the formation of AIDS. Now, in order to get HIV, first you need to have sex with someone who is HIV positive. This means that the person is infected with the virus. If neither yoursel for Michelle are HIV positive, then neither of you posed a risk to the other (think about it, HIV is a virus that is passed from one person to another... if neither of you have it, then nothing can be passed to the other person).
Avatar f tn The risk is highest when the viral load is highest, and that is when people are first infected, near AIDS, or untreated with medium/high viral load. That risk become much, much higher. Combined with treated people with undetectable viral loads, people with low amounts of virus, etc, then the average is 1 in several thousand. Also, HIV-2 has a lower rate of infection, but I don't know if that is averaged into HIV.
Avatar m tn I have read an article which saying below. Genetic diversity is a hallmark of HIV-1. Untreated individuals are estimated to produce up to 10 billion variants per day.
Avatar m tn on the advice of pathologists and hiv helplines @ aids research institutes i took a early detection test after 105 hours of exposure HIV DUO p24 by ELFA proviral pcrRT DNA qualitative RNA by COBBAS TAQMANN all were negative. I again took a PCR proviral DNA (nested) after 178 hours which was negative. I consulted two reputed AIDS specialists(Doctors and proffesor a WHO consultant too) who assured me that these tests are enough and that i was HIV negative.
Avatar m tn hiv is an std
Avatar n tn 5. Could my wifes scabs be not early sign of HIV but onset of AIDS? 6. Is sudden receding gums a symptom of HIV? Thanks so much Dr. H for being there for everyone during our trying times. Your service has been great for me because the Health Dept takes two weeks to get results back. I have been painfully waiting with this hanging over my head.
Avatar m tn You don't need a test for HIV. Oral sex is not a risk of HIV transmission. No incident HIV infections among MSM who practice exclusively oral sex. Int Conf AIDS 2004 Jul 11-16; 15:(abstract no. WePpC2072)??Balls JE, Evans JL, Dilley J, Osmond D, Shiboski S, Shiboski C, Klausner J, McFarland W, Greenspan D, Page-Shafer K?University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco, United States Oral transmission of HIV, reality or fiction?
Avatar n tn The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes AIDS, a chronic disease that cannot be cured and is usually fatal if left untreated. HIV infects certain white blood cells called CD4+ cells, which are part of the body's immune system.
Avatar m tn I don´t eat much, i barely sleep, i feel like i´m losing weight, i feel weird, kinda weak, and i feel this marks are related to AIDS/HIV in some way, the thing is they look the same they did a month ago. The only sexual thing i did was masturbation alone with no person around me. Never did i have sex, nor drugs or a blood share with an infected person, or a clean one by the way.
Avatar n tn She has had kids on her own and understands the worry that you have. She would not put the grandchildren in danger. HIV/AIDS is not that easy to transmit. If you are this worried over the grandmother. What about school teachers, lunch personnel, P. E. Coaches even some medical professional that are infected and havy daily contact with your kids/ kids food/ health. Basically I am saying there is no risk with the type of contact that you are referring to.
