Avatar m tn I am trying to get something in writing to show that this decision does not follow within the accepted guidelines for treatment of his form of Hepititis. I believe the Dr. in Az. may have made this decision not realizing he did not have a 12 week blood sample. My son is 43 years old and in otherwise good health. He has not had any symptoms of Hep C nor has he had any side effects from the treatments.

I personally spoke with the medical director and she stated the window period is 4 weeks for the Duo test. That information is also stated by HIV experts such as Dr. Handsfield and Dr. Hook (World reknowned HIV experts) based on numerous seroconversion panel studies. The 90 day window period refers strictly to Antibody only tests.

But you wont accept as CDC says "Unprotected oral sex can also be a risk for HIV transmission, but it is a much lower risk than anal or vaginal sex." Even though low risk, testing is essential or not?

Avatar n tn I have been given Nystatin anti fungal mouth wash and I have finished about half of it with no improvement on the tongue. I was retested for hiv at 7 weeks 5 days and it came back negative. Having read posts on this board I know that testing at 7 weeks is very accurate. the only thing that makes me doubt the result is my continued congestion, my abnormally white and dry tongue, and my unchanging enlarged pelvic lymph nodes. the white film does not come off with abrasion.

We recommend the 4th generation DUO test 28 days post exposure and a confirmatory test at 12 weeks for a 100% conclusive result. Your doctor goes by different guidelines. Perhaps you should ask him why he thinks so many experts are wrong.
