Hiv aids infection control

Common Questions and Answers about Hiv aids infection control

Avatar m tn Children may grow slowly or be sick a lot. How is HIV infection diagnosed? Because early HIV infection often causes no symptoms, a doctor or other health care provider usually can diagnose it by testing a person's blood for the presence of antibodies (disease-fighting proteins) to HIV. HIV antibodies generally do not reach detectable levels in the blood for one to three months following infection.
Avatar f tn Lyme compared to HIV/AIDS By a well known Lyme specialist---- Dr. J. in Washington D.C.---- in his remarks read to the North Carolina Medical Board during his final appearance before them on July 20, 2006. "Most of my HIV patients used to die ... now most don't ... Some still do, of course. My Lyme patients, the sickest ones, want to die but they can't. That's right, they want to die but they can't. The most common cause of death in Lyme disease is suicide.

Avatar n tn I would check an HIV/AIDS support forum. This here's for HCV folk. Please excuse me if you do have HCV, just wasn't sure by the sounds of your post. But as was mentioned above, candida (yeast) is the cause of oral thrush most...all?... of the time, so maybe you should check that out. Good luck finding your answers!
29837 tn?1414538248 Gender, race, body mass index, HCV viral load and genotype, HIV coinfection, source of HCV infection, and biopsy length were not significantly associated with moderate to severe fibrosis. Of the 328 patients screened for the study, 204 patients were included in the analysis. The baseline characteristics of those included in the study were similar to those excluded with the exception of daily cannabis use (13.7 percent of those studied used cannabis daily versus 6.
Avatar n tn Finally my current gynocologist said a few days it might just be a yeast infection, or some other light infection/STD. I am worried it is AIDS. is there any chance of it being aids? I have gotten tested for AIDS 6 monthes after I found out i was positive for herpes (2006). I'm going to get tested in the next week anyways, but is there anyone who knows any facts that could make the chance of AIDS very low and that of a yeast infection very high?
481797 tn?1208319128 You can not “get” AIDS. You might get infected with HIV, and later you might develop AIDS. Most people get the HIV virus by: 1. Having sex with an infected person 2. Sharing a needle with someone who’s infected 3. Being born when the mother is infected 4. Drinking breast milk from an infected woman 5. Getting a transfusion of infected blood 6.
Avatar n tn I have never heard of facial molluscum, in an adult, who didn't have advanced HIV infection. On the other hand, facial MC in AIDS is unlikely to clear up in 2 weeks; indeed even with aggressive treatment, it is very hard to control until immune deficiency is effectively treated with anti-HIV drugs. Perhaps the diagnosis was wrong -- which I hope is the case.
Avatar m tn org/forums/HIV-Anxiety-Support/show/595 You need to get into some therapy for your HIV anxiety, which is out of control. Getting yourself educated about HIV/AIDS would be a good way to spend your time while you wait for your therapy appoints to begin. Since you need to wait until February to get tested, I would suggest not having sex with your girlfriend either. Even if you always have protected sex, why would you be any safer with her than your "bit of stuff" on the side?
936016 tn?1332769204 HIV ‘out of control’ among French gay men Doctors in France have described HIV among gay men in France as “out of control” after a study into the latest HIV infection rates. Scientists from the French National Institute for Public Health found that while new cases of HIV had dropped dramatically in the general population, there was no drop in cases among gay men. Their findings were published in the September 9 Lancet Infectious Diseases journal.
Avatar n tn if an hiv infected person didn't know they had hiv until aids symptoms began to show, is it too late for the person? or is there still a way to begin taking medications to reduce viral load? is it very different compared to the person taking the medications years earlier?
Avatar m tn I told my doctor about the possible exposure but she asked me to wait for 12 weeks. What are the chances that I have hiv? and do you suggest any test to confirm hiv infection earlier? I read that early diagnosis could help in treatment.
1390055 tn?1365618655 I have, however, come across sites that have said that there is a link between HIV and geographic tongue, but found such information to be debunked by both another medical professional on that website a few months following the original post, and several doctors I have personally spoke with have told me there is no link between HIV and Geographic tongue, and geographic tongue is not a sign of HIV infection.
Avatar n tn Many times they are not restricted to just women, you can let them know what is going on and that you would like a full STD/AIDS/HIV panel and they can draw blood as well as take a urine sample to test for EVERYTHING. Best wishes!!
480448 tn?1426952138 It needs basically a set of near perfect circumstances to allow for infection. Therefore, a person CANNOT get HIV from environmental surfaces, like toilet seats, manicure/barber equipment, shower stalls, drinking glasses, toothbrushes, etc etc. The virus quickly becomes inactive when it is outside of its host (the body). This is why infection from inanimate objects is impossible. This is also why mutual masturbation with exposure to a partner's gential fluids is also NOT a risk in any way.
Avatar f tn I devoloped what looked exactly like oral thrush a month later and even though ive been told numerous times you DO NOT GET ORAL THRUSH IN EARLY HIV INFECTION for some reason I am still majorly freaked out.I wanna go get an Oraquick test.I think its about time I stop stressing and just get the test over with. How much did it cost you??
Avatar f tn as a matter of fact people start looking up things on the internet because they are already worried about their problem. Hiv or better say AIDS can give any possible symptom out there, try to google anything from fever to biscuits the words AIDS will always pop up. if you want to get things under control you need to be methodical do not be instinctive like you see two of the symptoms are matching and ignoring all the rest.
Avatar n tn 1) UNPROTECTED anal/vaginal sex with an HIV+ partner 2) Sharing drug works (needles) with an HIV+ person 3) HIV+ mother to her unborn child Stay off the HIV websites that aren't connected with either the CDC, The Mayo Clinic or the National HIV/AIDS Foundation. Spend time reading on the HIV Prevention Forum. If you cannot overcome this phobia on your own, then you need to get into therapy for your health anxiety.
Avatar f tn As anyone with OCD or a phobia knows, the best way to get rid of it is to face it head on and for the past year thats what i've been trying to do. I've even become a volunteer for my local Aids project and done HIV/AIDS walks to help those who are living with this condition and to show my support, learning everything i can about HIV to lessen the fear. You'd think i'd be doing well right? WRONG On to my situation: I'm in dire need of some help here.
Avatar n tn At least your nick suits you to a T.
Avatar n tn S). All these things are driving me crazy, and this cut, which is hopefully just from the yeast infection, is making it even worse! I'm sorry this is kind of all over the place, but I am petrified at what might be... I can't even get tested for HIV for another month and a bit. My decisions in the past have been BEYOND stupid, but there is nothing I can do about that now. I just wanted to talk to someone, anyone really, about what I am going through. Please help...

Avatar m tn But here it is confirmed by HIV/Aids control programme in that country which make it very thrilling.
766573 tn?1365170066 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched a pilot program offering HIV testing in 24 urban and rural pharmacies and retail clinics. The results of the 2-year program, which will cost $1.2 million, will be used to gauge customer interest in the service and develop a model for implementing HIV testing in similar settings across the country.

Avatar n tn hello experts: i think if a person has hiv it will be tested out by either PCR or antibody. But i heard some scary story that some peole said there are some people may have "occult hiv infection" or "dormant hiv carrier".Then i found this report in Aug 2008.( ), the author said one hypothesis which mentioned about the "occult infection".
