Avatar f tn This law protects the privacy of patients’ medical records and other health information provided to health plans, doctors, hospitals and other health care providers; provides patients with access to their medical records; and allows patients to determine how their personal health information is used and disclosed. There is also an HIV forum here in medhelp that may also help. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn AIDS testing recommended for most Americans Government wants routine screening for all between ages 13 and 60 ATLANTA - All Americans between the ages of 13 and 64 should be routinely tested for HIV to help catch infections earlier and stop the spread of the deadly virus, federal health recommendations announced Thursday say. The government hopes to stop the spread of the deadly HIV virus by screening as many people as possible with tests such as the OraQuick oral HIV test.
163305 tn?1333672171 A major one is that 45 million Americans lack health insurance, while Canada and many European countries have universal health care, they say. But "it's not as simple as saying we don't have national health insurance," said Sam Harper, an epidemiologist at McGill University in Montreal. "It's not that easy." Among the other factors: • Adults in the United States have one of the highest obesity rates in the world. Nearly a third of U.S.
Avatar n tn I work in the health care industry and can assure you that your medical records are very accessible to a wide range of people. To doctors, health insurance examiners, and yes, sometimes even employers. For everyone who gets their health insurance through their employer, don't forget when you signed up for that health plan; you had to sign a lot of papers and waivers. This is not true of every health plan but is more common today.
Avatar n tn See MANY other posts on this; search the threads for such terms as "fellatio", "oral sex", "HIV transmission risk", "HIV anxiety", and "STD anxiety". The quick response is that the risk of HIV is near zero, even if the person performing it has HIV; there is no known risk for chlamydia, which is rarely carried in the mouth/throat; and a very small risk for gonorrhea and of herpes.
Avatar n tn That is the Mass. Aids Hotline. Now if you would have taken the time they have the disclaimer also for newly infected. This has nothing to do with anywhere except Mass. if you do not live in Mass. it does not apply. It also states a test taken today, will tell you what your status was six weeks ago. http://www.mass.gov/Eeohhs2/docs/dph/aids/guide_counsel_test.
Avatar m tn The headaches were so similar to what I'd experienced during seroconversion, so after a routine test when my VL came through as detectable at 240, I thought it must be my body reacting against the HIV but my HIV specialist said that although it was more than a 'blip' he didn't think it would be high enough for the body to be reacting.
Avatar n tn divorce is just a word, you are obviously still there for him where it counts, don't fret that one too much, or delay the process if you can until all the results are in. the AIDS test is done for free in many clinics, and Dept Of health, they don't take long to come back with a result. He can always have it done at the next blood work. don't forget to take care of yourself also, stress is not good for ANYone, healthy or not.
Avatar f tn data offers a vital snapshot of the most recent infections so health officials can study any changes in transmission patterns, the officials said. The city’s AIDS prevention office has been faulted in the past as not keeping proper data to track and fight the disease, and the director of the office is the 13th in just over two decades, a turnover rate that has hampered its focus, advocates for AIDS patients said.
Avatar n tn Where on earth are you getting that information? I have friends that have had HIV and Aids longer than myself and I would die to have their teeth.
1448936 tn?1363209946 If we also have anxiety due to no health insurance...am certain that amps up the anxiety. Funny thing. I never thought much about serious health probs: my sis was the ummmm slightly hypochondriac in family. Then...bang...one year after retirement and a colonoscopy which indicated all was well I was diagnosed with stage IIIb anal cancer. That was in 2007. I am alive and well....
Avatar n tn I think the latter is far worse and that's why I'm battling it out with a mental health professional. Its' hard but progress is being made. Most people with fears regarding HIV will go to a session or two with a counsellor, see that progress is slow and give up. This is the worst thing to do. Therapy takes time and does work.
Avatar n tn I am concerned about the potential that I could have been infected with a STD, because although the AIDS/HIV infection rate in Japan is comparatively low to other countries, this female happened to be on her period at the time, and she also mentioned being fond of foreign men. In particular, she mentioned that her ex-boyfriend was a man from Brazil, and she also happened to have a couple tattoos. This leads me to believe she could be a little promiscuous.
Avatar m tn Such as ability to get insurance or a job? C) How long does a conventional test take to get results back? If I go in to a clinic on friday do they perform it over the weekend or wait till business days? Does it matter what day to take the test.
Avatar n tn Anyone, long story short, I went to the health department so that my insurance wouldn't drop me or raise rates. Its free. Anyway, I went in and hope i didn't get infected with any thing just going in. Their testing takes 3 weeks to get results and to top it off the nurses and doctors scared the $hit out of me with all of these HIV stories and telling me that the CDC tells them that AIDS wont be cured. Wow... i was so freaked out that I almost left in the middle of my appt.
Avatar f tn U should visit an hiv/aids consultation. Maybe they can help you to get the PEP. What kind of ********* is having unprotected sex while knowing he got HIV... Always use a condom!
Avatar n tn Last year, over 40,000 such people got infected with HIV in the United States, most of them poor, many with no health insurance. They need help. Why not take all this nervous energy and volunteer for an AIDs hospice or an outreach program? Raise funds for Gay Men's Health Crisis or a local AIDs council. If you're in college there are tons of such agencies on campus.
Avatar n tn i read your post and you sound just like me about 5 years ago...i just got married and had to get life insurance and you HAVE to take a AIDS test..it was my first i was so scared cause unlike you i was not so careful all the time for the most part but once i wasnt..any way the test took about a few weeks to come back iot was the worst couple of weeks of my life and it was negative ...
Avatar m tn //www.freedomhealth.co.uk/sexual-health/hiv-test-hiv-testing-london/125/ sorry for asking too many questions.I am very tensed.
20817617 tn?1521532028 Hello, well we are not doctors on here but I am a microbiologist. You have quite a medical history. I am not an HIV expert. If you do have HIV were you tested and confirmed positive? If so then I don't know any particular doctors in Los Angeles but these links might help: https://www.keckmedicine.org/positive-care/ https://www.cdc.gov/std/hiv/stdfact-std-hiv-detailed.htm The CDC has other things on HIV that might help. I personally don't look at links off of MedHelp.
Avatar m tn I think symptoms would have something to do with HIV, if they're caused by the virus. And I imagine that HIV/AIDS research has something to do with studying the symptoms of the seroconversion illness. Apart from that I'll take your advice about testing.
Avatar m tn And when i wanted to put in for health insurance they had to do a HIV test i was terrified out of my mind my pressure and everything went up but then i realised the only way I could put my mind to rest is to have the test done.I can guarantee you will send your self crazy unless you get it done and the results usually takes two weeks to reach back so thats worse.
Avatar n tn I then began looking online and saw symtoms for STD's and HIV. I now have a small purple rash on my hand, and sometimes itch all over my body like I have hives. not to mention I have recently started to get diarrhea. I know that it takes a while before HIV shows up, but I can not wait! I am having trouble sleeping at night because I am so worried. What do you think all this could be? HIV? Thanks!
Avatar n tn The odds you caught HIV probably are quite low, but high enough to get tested, maybe even high enough to warrant post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) with anti-HIV drugs. If this event occurred less than 72 hours ago, please see a health care provider right away to discuss PEP. 1) If the anal partner is infected -- which is a high risk for anonymous partners in this situation -- insertive anal sex carries an average risk of catching HIV somewhere around 1 per 500 exposures.
Avatar n tn sorry about all the emotions that are flooding your head and heart right now...this is a difficult place to find yourself in. my son was diagnosed a few months ago with HIV but his g/f tested negative out to three months. who knows exactly "when" he got it...he just got it. he was unfaithful to his g/f many times because of his meth addiction. and NO ppl, he did not shoot up. he also spent time in prison on drug charges and had several tattoos while there...
Avatar m tn You should see a doctor or clinic with expertise in HIV prevention -- either a local community doctor very familiar with HIV/AIDS or your local health department would be good choices. As for unprotected sex with your regular partner, if I were in your situation I wouldn't take the risk until the PCR test was done and negative. At that point, I would probably feel comfortable proceeding, but only after informing my partner and letting him participate in the decision.
Avatar n tn I have a couple questions for everyone. Is it possible for an hiv + person to go to aids in less then 3 years without meds? And if so, if there cd4 count was less then 200 would they test hiv antibody negative time after time. And does anyone know aproximatly how much an immune panel test costs without insurance? Another thing that is making me worry more is that i caught a could 2 weeks ago and cold went away after 3 days but cough is still there and when i cough alot makes my head hurt.
Avatar f tn I was uncertain what it may be until I looked it up and HIV, aids kept coming up. Well ever since then, I run a fever for weeks. I have constant yeast infections and lots of white discharge as well as lots of fatigue! I immediately got tested thinking maybe just an std. But all I had was yeast infection. Now I have had this cold with with a fever for about a month. My lymph nodes are still a bit swollen. I have body aches.
Avatar m tn I have read that just because I am HIV-postive and if I take my medication I may never have fully blown Aids and I stay healthy is that correct if you know.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am very concerned about my health and getting mixed messages every time I read online about symptoms. So, I had sex with a prostitute(2 different ones) and had a condom on that she gave me(could of been plastic sandwich bag for all I know) and we had sex, she also gave me unprotected oral sex and I returned the favor. I had serious coughing and cold 3 weeks after. 5 months later I got an oral swab hiv test, it said negative.
