Avatar n tn Since it was with a mixed race prostitute from Africa I started to worry because in Africa there is HIV and AIDS.I tested 5 times through the laboratory and realised a negative status.I told my story indirectly to a medical microbiologist as im still worried because I have a rough layer of white on my tongue which feels like dead cells. The microbiologist said there was no 100% chance of someone being truely negative.
Avatar m tn Hiv is not that bad in Africa as people believe, i am born and raise in Africa and in my hole life of 24years only two people were diagonise positive from my community so relax man Africa is not equal to hiv, just wait and take an antibody test at 3month.
Avatar n tn I also wonder this, how could so many men in Africa be infected with HIV if the transmission rate was really only 1 / 2000 encounters. I have a feeling that is on the very low end.

Avatar n tn The pants came from Africa and I am concerned about exposure to aids. Is it possible to get aids from a safety pin? How long would the virus stay on the metal? Thanks!
Avatar m tn s also not always possible to find a donor who is a good match for the recipient (if the donated cells are not taken from someone with similar human leukocyte antigens, a crucial part of the immune system, they are likely to be rejected or cause severe graft-versus-host disease) and is also happens to be resistant to HIV. This would be particularly tricky in Africa, where the mutation doesn't occur naturally.
Avatar m tn htm Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Including HIV Infection, Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Avatar m tn "Heard about a new form of HIV especially from africa that cannot be read by any of the tests out there is that true? anyone has that update? I suspect a possible exposure about 10 years ago. I have been sick for the past 3 years with breathing disorder, abdominal pain, chest tightness, tightness in stomach head and noise, tiredeness and weakness sometimes. Did a Full blood count, a few chest xrays, ct scan, and HIV clearview test last week, they all came out negative.
Avatar m tn The prostitute is very excited, but also put my penis bitten,Therewas a slight bleeding!!!!I heard that South Africa is the high incidence of AIDS in the country,I felt very fear.In 34 days after unprotected sexual intercourse,I went to the hospital for detection. The doctor asked me to conduct a joint detection of antigen and antibody(The 4th generation test),The result was negative. How does this result is 100% accurate???I would like to ask in the future can i need to test again???
Avatar n tn these questions, like your betrays a lack of understanding of how HIV is transmitted. Other than by sexual contact, HIV is transmitted when it is introduced by injection into tissue and, most often, the blood stream. This does not happen with open wounds in which the blood is flowing out of the body or in which something is used to clean a wound. Bottom line, Zero risk. No reason for concern. No reason for testing.

I am from subsaharan Africa and just wanted to know does this mean i must get tested because i thought protected sex = no risk regarding of anything.
