1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar n tn s husband did a comparison test and his number was normal at 86 would seem to indicate that the machine is NOT giving false numbers. Her blood sugar probably really IS that high, and this is extremely dangerous -- could be life-threatening. It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error.
Avatar f tn It depends on when the blood sugar was taken. If you were fasting then it's extremely high I'd you had just eaten and depending on what you ate it could be okay.
Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
Avatar n tn Is 130 high for blood sugar?
8485484 tn?1408936473 This is because it could result in several complications both for the baby and mother during the delivery. High blood sugar levels pose a huge risk in such a case. So, now you must be well-acquainted with what to do if you suffer from hypoglycemic reactions while carrying a baby. The main aim is to maintain a normal blood sugar range. If it is too high or too low, it is a cause of alarm.
Avatar f tn i am not diabetic but for some reason, for the.oast couple weeks i have been monitoring my blood sugar and its all over the place. the highest ive noticed was 281 after a big dinner and 2 minutes later it drops down to 113. any other ones are like, 232, 158 but i dont feel anything weird in my body at all. but my blood sugar when i woke up yesterday morning was 97 that was before breakfast. pls if u know anything about this, give an advice on wut to do.
390388 tn?1279636213 Hi all. It has been a while. Hope all is well with everyone. I was wondering at what point should someone call their doctor concerning their BP and HR. In other words when is it at a dangerous level? Mine of course with Spring seems to be on the rise again with all of the symtoms. My sugar levels have been climbing too. With the sugar levels I figure I'm safe as long as they don't go over a fasting 200. I'm not quite sure about BP and HR though.
Avatar m tn If you have diabetes or higher than normal blood sugar levels, you should carefully check your blood sugar levels, especially during the first few months of NIASPAN and during any change in your dose. Report any changes in your blood sugar levels to your health care professional. Hypothyroid (high TSH) has a huge effect on cholesterol levels. When your TSH gets back to normal your triglicerides should improve also. You could also ask for an A1C blood test.
Avatar n tn My mother was just diagnosed with type 1, she is having issues keeping her blood sugar down. She's a very small and petite woman and is having trouble planning meals and keeping her blood sugar down. Especially having trouble with her snacks before bedtime. Any help would be very much appreciated!!
Avatar n tn Recently I have been suffering from anxiety attacks and light headedness. Done a fasting blood sugar test and it seems I have high blood sugar levels. Than this be the result of my anxiety attacks This discussion is related to Mysteriously high fasting blood glucose.
Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
Avatar n tn Eating and activity levels were close to normal, and I could not explain the high blood sugar. Wondering if the altitude effects the performance of the pump, or effect of the insulin. Any suggestions would be appreciated since I'm preparing to make the camping trip again this summer.
Avatar m tn If I monitor my blood sugar levels closely, my levels actually go up during and after exercise. I thought they were supposed to go down. Why is this happening?
