hernia surgery techniques

Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.

Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.

So i had a hernia surgery March of last year and they also took out a bunch of pelvic svar tissue. Anyways after surgery i startrd having severe panic attacks the following day. Anyways they teied me on a few different meds Anyways year later im still.

If I'm not mistaken, gaping means it's open a bit more than normal - so a slilght hiatal hernia. Once a hiatal hernia starts there's typically no reversal. The problems that can result are movement of acid into the esophagus and development of irritation to the lining of that organ. Over time it can be very problematic. Make sure to talk with your doc.

Discuss with your doctor the possible management plan including pain management as well as complementary and alternative medicine such as relaxation techniques if surgery is out of the choices. Take care always.

I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago at my HepC semi-annual exam with a belly button hernia and was advised to not have surgery to repair it nor any other surgery because I have cirrhosis. When I asked how they knew I had cirrhosis, they said it was highly likely and they wanted to take every precaution. I have left messages for both HepC doctors, one highly qualified at a large teaching hospital.

s taken Prevacid .. however, with a hiatal hernia you could be having reflux symptoms. Is your Dr suggesting surgery to correct it and/or the gallbladder? My child had not stones, too ... but symptoms with all labs except the HIDA being normal. Keep us posted.

Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.

My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.

You may have read my post that a chiropractor fixed my daughters hiatal hernia. I brought her in and he checked a few other places and fixed those first then he massaged the stomach to fix the hernia. She's been pain free since. I took her to a massage therapist next to have the vagus nerve massaged and her upper body was so tight that when the therapist touched the tight spots it made her head turn.

What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.

The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!

Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?

Any every have a hernia while pregnant? I was complaining the baby's head was so low it was hurting - saw my dr today & it turns out it's a hernia! Grrr- at least baby sounds great (got to hear her hiccups on doplar!). Guess I'll goggle hernias until my surgery consult in 2 weeks.

Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.

I have already planned the surgery to fix the hernia for next week . 2 days ago I had an ultrasound which showed that I have gallbladder sludge and maybe some very small stones . I never had any pains in the stomach and the only thing that might be a symptoms is some digestive problems . The doctor advised that since I am going to surgery for the hernia I should proceed with the removal of the gallbladder .

As for the type, 90% of all hiatal hernias are sliding hernias, not paraesophageal, so it's probably a sliding hiatal hernia that you have.

I need gallbladder surgery in the near future. I have abdominal meshing and want to know if they can do laproscopic surgery on me or not. ANYONE have my issue?

I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!

Does this mean surgery failed? is hernia back (now they are referring to this as a paraesophageal hernia) The doctors never told us herina might be back so I am wondering when I see x-ray report and it shos Pre-demonstartion of hernia, does that mean there is a new issue or they are seeing repaired hernia? is it typical that Nissen wrap would slip so soon after surgery?

ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.

Bottom line I went into get gallbladder removed now I need OPEN Hernia surgery to repair inguinal hernia. (My internist agrees the gas probably pushed the hernia out. Painful bulge,burns sometimes, but seems to go back in when I sleep and pops out next day.) Can gas cause this and if my surgeon read prior scans (he didnt) what could have been done differently. I am sure I am not the first patient to have suffered from gas-induced hernia.

Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
