I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!

A male lower abdominal hernia? I am no doctor, paramedic and I am no longer a combat lifesaver. I work around a lot of steel. At times I have to hand pull 400 foot lengths of cable threw that steel. The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things.

Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....

This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.

They sent me home and stated it should correct itself but if not I could schedule an appt for surgery. Or they could just fix it if I happen to get a cesarean. Has anyone had this happen and did it correct itself?

Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.

You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday.After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.

It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.

After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.

My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. I'm almost 34 y/o. Have 4 kids. After the 4th pregnancy I now have an umbilical hernia that I would like to repair, but I might also need an abdominoplasty as well. Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.

How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.

Hi, It would be a good idea to plan and schedule a cholecystectomy (gall bladder surgery) that is elective. The advantages are that the surgery can be done laparoscopically with minimal or no complications. A gall bladder that is inflammed or infected and has not received adequate attention in time can develop complications such as fibrosis or adhesions to surrounding structures which make it difficult to free the structure during an emergency surgery.

I left and went up to the front desk to schedule all my appointments and the lady told me that a woman that was in earlier had to schedule an appointment for surgery and she was 30 weeks!! What is with my hospital!! So I have an appointment with the surgen for next Tuesday and I hope that if they have to do surgery that they will wait untill my baby is more viable!! Im kinda stressing!! Anyone eles have to have surgery while pregnant???

so i had the ultrasound and the cyst is not major thank god and now I just have to get surgery to take out hernia and close the hole so every thing is great and I will be just fine
