Avatar n tn You can go back to light work even before six weeks, but since your work involves some lifting of weights and traveling, you should not return to work before six weeks. A good period of rest will be 8 - 10 weeks.
Avatar f tn If you had a laparotomy, then you probably will not be able to get back to work for at LEAST 4-6 weeks. You have to give your body plenty of time to heal. Even though we look healed on the outside, the inside takes quite a bit longer to heal. July sounds about right for a return to work date. I am having a laparotomy tomorrow and my instructions sheet (my doctor gave me my post-op instructions at my pre-op appointment) said that no driving, sex, lifting or bending for 4-6 weeks.
Avatar n tn I went to see my GP who singed me off work for six weeks, i then have to go back to See if i can return to work then. This was a great relief for me as i knew i would struggle with my job.
1823499 tn?1370090289 For the type of job u have I would think it may be too soon to go back if u feel as badly as u say....u have to look at urself , how u feel to determine when u can return to work, and it may not be ur old position, u may need to adjust to something else until u heal more.It can take up to 2 yrs to heal completely...some people take longer, some r quicker to heal....
Avatar n tn I had double hiatia hernia surgery in Sept. 2006. My recovery was fine and within the year i lost 100 pounds and have kept it off. The other day I was sick and coughing a lot. All at once it felt like my somach ripped open inside. the pain was horrible for about 10 to 15 minutes. I couldn't stand up staight. Just as I called my husband home to take me to the hospital it started to loosen up and ease off.
Avatar f tn My doctor suspects I have a hernia, a complication from having a large cyst, ovary and tube removed in May. I will need surgery to repair. Anyone else experience this? I'd appreciate your experiences and thoughts on recovery time, when I can return to work (I'm a preschool teacher), length of surgery, etc. Thanks!
Avatar f tn It has been suggested that I could return to work (office job) in 10 days. That would mean full mobility. As for exercise, I believe 3 months. Please let me know how the surgery goes. I am desperate for a solution to my symptoms. My Dr. says it is a small hernia and I should live with it. The stomach discomfort, vagas nerve issues including palps etc are brutal. I was a very active person, and now am very limited. I am thinking of arranging surgery in the U.S.
Avatar f tn m currently only taking anti-inflammatory (salofalk). I was able to return to work 5 weeks after surgery and try to get as much as rest as I can on my days off. I was instructed not to work out until 8-10 weeks after surgery.
Avatar m tn Come to find out, I did have a ingual (SP?) hernia. Surgery/recovery was a breeze. It definately helped get rid of that pain. Now if I could only get rid of the adbominal pain.
Avatar n tn Would you please share your mothers story with me, I have also had a recent (July07) tram failure with 6 months recovery from open wounds and a hernia. I have been unable to return to work as of yet. I am interested to hear if anyone else suffered with the same problems and if so how did she manage.
Avatar f tn Ur DD may not be able to return to her line of work for some time, it all depends on how she responds to the surgery, and there is no way to know until afterward. What r her job responsibilities...duties....if lifting is involved she may have to stay away longer than if it was a office type position...again, it all depends on her and how she does post op. Is she a full time nurse?....is she eligible for FMLA? If so, there is no need for her to quit.
Avatar f tn That said, I followed the recovery diet exactly as prescribed. You should be able to go back to work in about ten days, in my opinion, but only if you follow the dietary guidelines. Let us know how you recover.
1236570 tn?1276738525 So I had my second day back to work and I felt tired w/ a slight HA after day one. But today I feel like my same old pre-op self. I have a pounding HA. I am still concidered to be "on-leave" cause I'm just doing Monday, Wednesday, Friday this week, but I'm supposed to be back full time next monday. After how I feel today I'm very nervous about that.
Avatar f tn It started exactly a year ago when she had surgery for a hiatal hernia. The surgery went well, recovery was longer that we was told. This was the 2nd time they did this surgery, the 1st time wasn't a success and this time turned out to be the same. So she has a large hernia in her chest area, multiple Dr's have said it is one of the biggest hernias they have ever seen. Since then she has battled periods of not being able to eat/swallow.
Avatar f tn I had OPN on October 1, 2010 to remove 3.9 cm cyst. PET/CT scan confirms all cancer was removed. Going into seventh week postop returned to work two weeks ago part-time. Surgery left me cancer free (YIPEE) with 8" scar. The top if my scar remains swelled and I have no feeling below the scare. My pain flextulates from day-to-day and I tire very easily. Surfing through internet in search of someone that can let me know when pain should leave and when energy level should return.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn Living donor kidneys normally require 3-5 days to reach normal functioning levels Light activity at home is encouraged and movement of legs is important to prevent formation of blood clots. You can expect to return to normal activities, such as showering, driving or walking up stairs within a week. Acute rejection occurs in 10% to 25% of people after transplant during the first sixty days. Rejection does not necessarily mean loss of the organ, but may require additional treatment.
Avatar f tn My recovery was quick and very easy. I had a great surgeon and also I had the surgery before there was a lot of damage done. I made sure that I only ate what I was suppose to and ate only 1/2 cup at a time about every 2 to 3 hours. The one time I ate more, I had the shoulder pain and went for a long walk and this helped. I was on soft food when I went home from the hospital and ate still only 1/2 cup. I ate blended foods. No tomato, carbinated drink or any acid food.
Avatar m tn Typically you will spend around 5 to 7 days in the hospital after an aortic valve replacement surgery and subsequent to the discharged t you will have to take it easy for the next 4 to 6 weeks. After about 4 to 6 weeks, you may return to your job provided it is not physically demanding and a sedentary one. Patients who work in physically hard jobs will have to take 8 weeks of rest.
202436 tn?1326474333 Has anyone every had any experience with this? What type of surgery was done and how long was the recovery time? What type of limitations were set after the surgery and for how long? DH is our only source of income at this point and while this is most likely going to be a workmans comp issue I want to be prepared. Thanks for any insight!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 7 days post laproscopic surgery to remove a cyst from left ovary. I've been signed off for 2 weeks and certainly don't feel well enough to return to work yet and my job is not strenuous! I can't even look after my children (I have a very heavy baby!) and have had to call on a lot of help! I know everyones different, but don't rush things especially with your job!
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn t gotten that far in discussing it. Any thoughts are appreciated. recovery time? when were you able to return to work? how does the pain compare to the cyst removal? etc Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was dismissed from the hospital with a note saying I could return to work in 1-2 days after laproscopic surgery to remove a large cyst and my right ovary, however I took one week sick leave because I did not feel I could return so quickly. I am supposed to go back on Monday but am still walking slowly and can't do much should I take some more time off or what things should I avoide doing îf I return?
Avatar f tn I am so sorry that you have to go through surgery. It will be good to be out of that pain but I know thinking about it and preparing for it is long. I hope you will have help afterwards, you need to rest and let your body repair. I will be thinking of you and praying for you.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. 905197 tn?1282232033 I recently had a lap. and I was able to return to work after about a week, though I did work a bit toward the end of the week from home when I was able to, in between naps and rest. It depends on you and everyone is different, The first 3 days were the worst for me, and each day I noticed a significant amount of improvement. I'm 39, and in decent shape (haven't excersized regularly over this past year) and eat relatively healthy.
