Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. 677876 tn?1236551967 He took out 36 lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. Luckily there was only cancer in 2 but recovery has been so slow because of the seroma. There is no infection thank goodness. I have read about seromas being common after breast surgery but not after neck ressection. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar m tn The tightness is not painful like I could have a heart attack but more irritating. I had surgery for a hiatal hernia and had laparoscopic fundoplication done and I also have scoliosis. I've been to a chiropractor for my tightness to see if that would help but it just came right back. Wonder if this could be related to my scoliosis.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

Avatar f tn After exhausting every other resort (and I truly mean every other resort)- migraine therapy, acupuncture, physical therapy, etc., we decided to go ahead with the decompression surgery. My surgery was done on November 18th at Cornell in NYC by Dr. Greenfield. I am upwards of two weeks post op and am experiencing frontal headaches, fatigue, nausea, and extreme neck stiffness. I would just like to know if anyone has any recommendations as far as becoming more comfortable through my recovery.
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
Avatar f tn I posted a while ago, since then I have had fusion surgery of my c5/c6. I'm told the disc above and below are bulging and could be as problem in the future. After the surgery the pain down my left arm got better and there is no new numbness but it has been slow regaining feeling and use of that arm. My problem is the pain in the neck and upper back didn't get any better and is still crippling every day.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
568174 tn?1217557505 Hi I had recently had surgery or a broken disc in my neck and 3 other compressed discs that were all laying on nerves. My surgery was about a little over a week ago and I still don't have feeling in one of my fingers and the doctor told me that if I didn't come back within a week it probably won't, is this true?
Avatar f tn It will be a month in 2 days since I had my surgery. Beside this surgery I had only previously been to the hospital to give birth. I read everyone's stories and comments and thought..... Oh no I'll be fine. I have always been strong and had a high tolerance for pain. I just pop a few Motrin and I'm on my way but this time I'm destroyed. Do not misunderstand me I have read some stories that literally have me staring @ the screen crying. I know I'm lucky.
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had surgery for a fracture at C7. It been 4 days since my surgery. What is recovery from surgery for a fracture at C7 like. At the present time my neck and shoulder are in pain and very sore. I have had a constant bad headache that will not stop. Any suggestion on how my recovery will go over the next few weeks will be appreciated and what I can do to help with my recovery.
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
454221 tn?1259445739 I'm almost 34 y/o. Have 4 kids. After the 4th pregnancy I now have an umbilical hernia that I would like to repair, but I might also need an abdominoplasty as well. Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.
Avatar f tn How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.
