Avatar f tn Hi , I had a hiatus hernia ( sliding) and am in recovery (4th month) after key hole surgery for repair to the hernia. I had the hiatus hernia for the 10 years and suffered all of your mentioned symptoms. It got to the point where I was getting hard stomach pains ( felt like I was punched in the stomach) and felt like I wanted to vomit. I took over my life and I was afraid of eating so many foods.
Avatar f tn ve done a ton of research on my issues plus based on my doctors opinions, the severity of the pain and my previous history it is not believed that the pain is being caused by the ulcer and/or the hernia. I hope that the Mayo clinic will be able to help finally put an end to all of this, or at the very least be able to give me a definate diagnosis. thanks again for your help and I'll let you know if I find out whats up.
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
1264955 tn?1381782221 Has anybody here been to the neurology clinic at the Mayo or in their inpatient pain treatment program?
Avatar m tn But if the area between the aneurysm and the renal arteries is too slight for a conventional commercially-made ordinary stent, then you need to go to Cleveland Clinic (which uses commercially made fenestrated stents from Australia), Mayo Clinic (surgeon-modified stents), Emory in Atlanta (talk to Dr. Ricotta, from Mayo, adept at what they call surgeon modified "fenestrated" stents, or to the University of California, San Francisco.
Avatar f tn ( they are going to do it again in two weeks. I called them they said he didn't cry there at all just barked, which he does bc he has anxiety away from me. :( but now all he is doing is running in circles trying to get at the incission and crying.
Avatar n tn Has anyone responded to your question? I was recently diagnosed and heard that Dr. Gray at the Mayo Clinic does have some expertise in treating this disease. Of course, my insurance does not cover the doctors at the Mayo Clinic. I have been seen at the UCLA Revlon Center, but they really have no expertise in this area, so I feel like my treatment has come to a standstill.
792410 tn?1270315500 After being told by three different surgeons at three of the finest cancer centers in the world that I was not a candidate for surgery, and would be on chemo for the rest of my life, a surgeon at The Mayo Clinic said without hesitation that he thought I was a candidate for surgery and so I'm having surgery there on November 16th. The other surgeons said I was inoperable! I needed to learn to live with it because it was there to stay.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn He also had quadruple bypass surgery and a reaction to statin drugs. Mayo clinic in Rochester was where he went for a second opinion. I highly suggest going to the top (Mayo) if you can travel. Our hospital here was tellling him it was his heart and he needed a defribulator. Mayo found out his heart was perfectly fine and it was his lungs. Get a second opinon.
17213106 tn?1456525991 I used to wake up at 2am with a tight stomach and back pain. Felt like trapped air. Went to Mayo Clinic got an upper endoscopy and Got diagnosed with SIBO. Gave me anti-biotic to get stop the bacterial overgrowth. Still have burping after meals and bloating after meals and am checking for other things wrong, but it is greatly reduced got treated for SIBO. Make sure they actually check for SIBO MN Gastro did not check for this and missed it the first time.
Avatar n tn Studies have been done again and again (among the most recent at Mayo Clinic) that documents that patients forget or repress about 75% of the information given them pre-operatively in oral and written surgical consents. This is in spite of they being videotaped listening and reading possible complications.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a total thyroidectomy in July after a nodule was found in my neck. I too had many tests, a biopsy, nuclear scan, ultrasound. I was told it was suspicious. I was ultimately given the choice of partial or total thyroid removal. If I received the partial and the lab work came back malignant they would need to go back in and remove the rest of my thyroid. I decided to get the total removal. I'm very glad that I did.
Avatar n tn I read an article by a renown valve sureon at the Mayo Clinic and he stated the biggest problem he sees are patients that have waited too long! If one is feeling well, it is difficult to have surgery with a risk that one may not feel so well after the operation, that may be wishful thinking, but understood as one wants to keep delaying that which in all likelihood will require intervention sometime in the future.
Avatar m tn Please post back and let us know what you find out from your surgery at Mayo. I hope your surgery and recovery go well.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. This link may be helpful: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/inguinalhernia/#diagnosis Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn d do EVERYTHING possible before that to avoid it. The Mayo clinic has a system for pain like this. I do actually know someone that had similar symptoms. He had a nerve issue that they just could not find post hernia surgery. Almost identical symptoms. The Mayo Clinic embedded a pulsing device elsewhere. There is science and theory behind it. It distracts from the testicular issue and they begin ignoring the pulsing but their brain is aware and focus is taken away from pain.
765878 tn?1234688634 hi karin my name is maria, my son was just diagnosed with cavernoma. i wanted to know if you did go through with the operation and how are things going. my son is 14 years old and brain surgery sounds so scary.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
