Avatar f tn Lifting that first week after surgery is usually really restricted to help aid recovery and impede complications. While my gut says 10 pounds or under should be okay for a brief minute lifting of a laptop . . . I'm not an expert. I do think so anyway. If you continue to have pain, then call your doctor without delay. And follow your physician's instructions from now on to a T.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.

Avatar f tn I had a Lap done one week ago. One incision at the belly button, one to the lower left. Doctor removed two small areas of endometrial tissue. Doctor's been very unhelpful regarding exercise post surgery, says it'll take four weeks to recover fully and if I want a hernia before then that's my problem--that's almost a quote. I am a fit 38-year old who has to exercise regularly to maintain pain in my SI joint and femur patella syndrome in my knees.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a seroma in August after having hernia surgery. I'm just now returning to work and I was wondering if heavy lifting will cause the seroma to swell and become sore again.
Avatar n tn I had quadruple hernia repair 2 weeks ago, umbilical, 2 inguinal and spieglian. I have also had a chronic cough. How do I know if I reinatured my umbilical hernia? I am feeling a hard knot and am not sure if it is scary tissue or hernia.
Avatar f tn That sounds like the pressure of lifting has triggered an inguinal hernia. The hernia can actually go into your scrotum.
Avatar m tn It does indeed sound like a hernia. There might be a tear in the abdominal muscle and the intestines occasionally pop through. It hurts because the intestines get squeezed. It can be serious, as it can cause blockage of or permanent damage to the intestines. Definitely go see your doctor.

I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
Avatar m tn hellow iam nikil i had hernia surgery one year ago .can you tell me what excercises should not be done...
Avatar n tn Despite that this is a “small” surgery, it is a surgery nonetheless. In general, the recommendation is to take it easy with lifting and other strenuous movement of the affected arm. Swelling and bruising are not uncommon and may take time to resolve. It can take a bit of time to feel “normal.” Scar tissue and other healing takes time. It may be worth a discussion with your surgeon, though, to be sure he/she is happy with your progress.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar f tn (22 y.o male, 180lb) 2 1/2 weeks post op of my umbilical hernia surgery (small hernia, open repair, no sutures needed) I went to a friendly get together and drink about 7-8 beers throughout the night. I was simply standing and talking casually while drinking. Is there any possibility whatsoever that that amount of beer could stretch my stomach enough to the point of actually tearing the sutures?
Avatar f tn How much time can I expect to be out of work after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery? I get a different answer from each person/doctor I talk to. I am a secretary and can keep from any type of lifting for whatever time I need to.
Avatar m tn I had a drug coated stent in the LAD 11 months ago. I ended up with an embilical hernia from being inactive and thenover lifting during my recovery. I need corrective surgery when I can stop the effient. (its not an emergency yet) I went through the cardiac rehab and was looking forward to getting off some of the meds. I am all for the long run but I worry about fatal bleeding and liver damage.
Avatar m tn 1- Go for a good urologist and surgeon using laparoscopic surgery which provides faster wound recovery and leaves no scars, as opposed to regular surgery which takes longer to heal the wound, and leaves a 2-3 inch c-section like scar in your groin area. 2- If money is an issue, get it done at an outside surgery facility not in a hospital, its cheaper, and has a lesser chance of infection... some hernia centers/ OBGYNs/Urologists and such have their own surgery facilities.
Avatar f tn We are all different as to how we deal with pain, pain meds...and the surgery in general ...so recovery is different for all of us. May I ask, does ur DD have a syrinx, CSF obstruction, EDS, sleep apnea, tethered cord, or over crowding?
Avatar f tn t know what to expect. I have never had any type of surgery and I am nervous about recovery. I only have a limited number of days I can take off of work, how long is recovery? Is there any genetic link?
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
