hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
Avatar f tn Lifting that first week after surgery is usually really restricted to help aid recovery and impede complications. While my gut says 10 pounds or under should be okay for a brief minute lifting of a laptop . . . I'm not an expert. I do think so anyway. If you continue to have pain, then call your doctor without delay. And follow your physician's instructions from now on to a T.
Avatar n tn It's been 20 days since the Inguinal hernia surgery, but the hernia still feels like a water ball (As much as a testicle) on the side of the testicle. My doctor said it will go away in few weeks. Will it take longer to heal? This is a problem for me. Please explain to me?
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar f tn I'm sorry you're dealing with this. You are still early post-op so it's normal to be tired. Anesthesia and surgery are a trauma to the body so it takes some time to "bounce" back. Just be sure to take it easy and no heavy lifting. Hopefully, your doctor gave you specific instructions. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn After CABGx3 I was discharged from the Hospital after 36 hours with NO instructions to me or my wife for post-op care at home. I had a very difficult recovery lasting over one year. I would like to hear from others who have had CABG about the length of their hospital stay and post discharge care.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn Gas bubble dissipated completely exactly 5 weeks after operation, however, vision is still blurry and mildly distorted, although it seems slightly better than pre-surgery. Doc did not explain to me, but thanks to medhelp, I now realise that recovery of vision, if ever, might takes months. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying a lot. Seeing doctor again next week, hope for some good news, but am prepared for the worst.
Avatar m tn I am 7 days Post-Op of an IT Band Tenodesis (to tighten my current ACL and knee) & Meniscus Repair. I want to be following the protocol for the fastest recovery and healing process. At 7 days post operation should I no longer be elevating my knee? Should I be sleeping with my knee elevated? I’ve read some places it slows down healing when you elevate your operated upon leg after the 48-72 hour mark after the surgery.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.
Avatar m tn I wouldn’t think masturbating a week after the surgery should cause a prblm - however, I saw smthg that said Reg surgery (not Lapsro) requires a 2-3 wk recovery period, no mention of sexual activity though. The info on Laparoscopic Varicocele surgery says recovery is much quicker, but again no mention of how long to wait for sexual activity. I would have thought your surgeon would give instructions about that.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
454221 tn?1259445739 I'm almost 34 y/o. Have 4 kids. After the 4th pregnancy I now have an umbilical hernia that I would like to repair, but I might also need an abdominoplasty as well. Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.
