Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn I had a Lap done one week ago. One incision at the belly button, one to the lower left. Doctor removed two small areas of endometrial tissue. Doctor's been very unhelpful regarding exercise post surgery, says it'll take four weeks to recover fully and if I want a hernia before then that's my problem--that's almost a quote. I am a fit 38-year old who has to exercise regularly to maintain pain in my SI joint and femur patella syndrome in my knees.
Avatar m tn what type of hernia exercise (if you have) can i do that can help me developed back the muscles that causes my abdominal hernia? Can it help me avoid surgery? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Avatar f tn Having hiatal hernia (Nissen) surgery in a few days. My questions are : How soon would it be safe to climb stairs? When can I resume exercising? Some say that sit ups would strengthen the abdomen. Is that true? if so when should I start that? Reading the blog, most people are complaining about not being able to eat. Is this a normal? Would it be better to do a liquid diet for awhile? If so, How long should it be?
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar f tn Can anyone give advice on hazards of or things to watch for when resuming exercise? I know walking is probably how I should start but any thoughts on how soon to add more intense workouts or what types to avoid the longest? FYI-should add that I'm 38, always been active until recently, my surgery was pretty simple removal of 2 large fallopian cysts on one side.
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar m tn 1- Go for a good urologist and surgeon using laparoscopic surgery which provides faster wound recovery and leaves no scars, as opposed to regular surgery which takes longer to heal the wound, and leaves a 2-3 inch c-section like scar in your groin area. 2- If money is an issue, get it done at an outside surgery facility not in a hospital, its cheaper, and has a lesser chance of infection... some hernia centers/ OBGYNs/Urologists and such have their own surgery facilities.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar f tn That is going to take a while. Cuz the cut may look like it heal but it takes a very long time to heal from the insides (months) if u don't give it enough time to heal u may get a hernia. Then ull need surgery again. But it's best to let ur doc make the decision of when ur ready. I had a cyst removed from an ovary a few years ago thru my belly button. It was a total of 3 incisions n went back to exercise in 6 weeks n got a small hernia in my belly button.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
