Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar f tn Hi , I had a hiatus hernia for 10 years and am in recovery from a repair ( key hole surgery ) to the hernia. Prior to the surgery I suffered with heart burn, waking up coughing acid reflux vomit, pain in my stomach ( over the diaphragm), bloating to the stage where I looked like I was 7 months pregnant, weight gain, wind and gave up alcohol, spicy foods and chocolate due to acid reflux.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn I kind of doubt that a hiatal hernia could cause bloating, although a lot of people with hiatal hernias and GERD do report some bloating issues. Try to pin down what 'food groups' are tied into the bloating issue. Many people find that foods they've eaten for years with no problems can suddenly cause problems.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
638005 tn?1231520088 hi, did you have surgery to correct the hernia? if not then maybe thats causing the blocked feeling of gas in your stomach.
Avatar m tn do you suggest that i have surgery to repair my hernia? My doctor does not believe surgery is necessary and i trust him, but i am in discomfort every day. Do you think surgery will help me?
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
202436 tn?1326474333 ( I have had hernia repair surgery but not that kind so I have know clue on recovery time and what not:( I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!!
Avatar f tn I am prednisone dependent for 20 years (10 mg daily) After dinner I seem to get terribly bloated. No matter what I seem to eat I get this terrible movement that you can see and feel, it is like when you are pregnant and the baby is moving (this is the best way to explain it). Sometimes the pain is worse on the right, but then it moves left (I do have diviticulitis & hiatal hernia(no problem here I stay away from seeds and spicy foods). I do suffer from RA for over 20 years.
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar n tn I had my gallbladder removed ten days ago. Also had hernia repair at the same time. I was on an all liquid diet for the first 5 days. I have been on "regular food" for about 5 days now. I am very constipated. Having very small or no bowel movement. Strangely enough I have not had any pain or bloating. Could this be because I have not been eatting very much or is it a sign that something is wrong?
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar m tn Even if your initial symptoms were not severe and tests said GERD was not severe - if they undo the wrap, your Hiatal Hernia could become bigger and then you need the surgery in anyway to fix the Hernia. ALSO: Longstanding GERD can cause Barret's in some people and that is a pre-cancerous growth and turns into cancer in 5% of patients - but it is permanent damage and you need lifelong surveillance once you have it.
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar f tn s taken Prevacid .. however, with a hiatal hernia you could be having reflux symptoms. Is your Dr suggesting surgery to correct it and/or the gallbladder? My child had not stones, too ... but symptoms with all labs except the HIDA being normal. Keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have an epigastric hernia so I have surgery and fix it right? Well, my surgery is scheduled for THIS FRIDAY (two days from today) and now I am reading all of the forums and all of the bad news from patients that are sorry they went through with the surgery. ARE THERE ANY GOOD AFTER SURGERY REPORTS OUT THERE? I don't know if I will make an already bad situation worse or if there is hope for me. Please help. Thanks so much!
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
