3134904 tn?1342639868 I have cholecystectomy clips from gallbladder and appendix removal that I had 5-6 years ago. A month after the surgery I also had inguinal hernia repair. Prior to these surgeries, I had laproscropic surgery to remove scar tissue from my uterus.. from a c-section. Well, here lately, I have been having chronic to severe pain, that's sharp and throbbing on my right side, sometimes it feels like something cold, and leaking going through somewhere. I was wondering what are my options?
Avatar m tn Come to find out, I did have a ingual (SP?) hernia. Surgery/recovery was a breeze. It definately helped get rid of that pain. Now if I could only get rid of the adbominal pain.
Avatar f tn ll have a lot of questions for the Dr. If a person gets surgery on a hernia will it not come back then anymore, or can it still?
3210170 tn?1346884553 Hi. My primary physician referred me to a general surgeon for hernia surgery. I have doubts about a general surgeon's ability to perform a laparoscopic bilateral procedure. Several reputable sources note that this surgery has a steep learning curve and that <200 surgeries per year would ensure enough experience. How do I find out a surgeon's experience? Are there accrediting organizations for specific procedures?
Avatar m tn If one *needs* their hernia fixed, this is the only way I would go, and I would ask a huge amount of questions about nerves and scar tissue. If you can live with your problem, I would do that.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar m tn HI...I have not had this surgery and from what others have said about it I hope ur dr advised u in advance of the issues u will have afterward.....many post they were unaware they would not be able to vomit even tho they have the flu and feel sick.....also that the Nissen can slip...need to be redone and several have had a re occurrence of the same symptoms that had prior to surgery...u can use the search this community to get to older threads on this topic. .
Avatar n tn Going in for surgery Nov17'08. The total hysterectomy, hernia and sling will be performed. I am very nervous after reviewing this site and the "horror" stories told. I have fibroids pressing against the badder, which is now, poorly distended, a overly large uterus ,as well as a hernia. I have a calcified kidney stone"which is being "guarded".
Avatar f tn 12 years ago I had Exploratory surgery on my abdomen. 2 children CSections ages now 8 and 5. No future children. I had a lower area ventral hernia repaired last July have still been in pain everyday since surgery. Last 4-6 months that pain has increased and moved to the upper region of the incision. New ultrasound more incisional hernias found. My question is what are my options?
Avatar m tn hi the surgeon who has diagonised as para umbilical hernia has done so only after physical examination.
Avatar f tn I had a double hernia surger (lower abdomen & between my ribs) both on top of old scars. Now, 8 months later, I have had an Ultrasound, CT, MRCP all indicating Chronic Pancretitis. I am scheduled for an ERCP. I am not nor have been a drinker and I have had no trauma to my abdomen (except the hernia surgery. I don't feel as if I fully recovered from the hernia surgery. Could a hernia surgery or the scar tissue from that lead to pancretitis or dammage to my pancrease?
Avatar f tn From what I can discover in the literature, it appears to me that UCSF is the foremost center for fetal surgery to correct a diaphragmatic hernia before birth. You may want to request a referral there if things look serious. The most important next step will be to find out exactly what it is that you are dealing with, and that will happen at your level 3 ultrasound with your perinatologist. Good luck!
Avatar n tn I had a few umbilicar hernia operations, the last surgery a mesh was placed in my stomic. Years later I noticed my stomic is geting larger and larger and it is very hard, I was told i need two doctors one for the hernia and the other for the diastasis abd wall. My questions are - 1 would my insurance pay? 2- Do you know of a good Doctor. - Is it a diffacult operation?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.

Avatar f tn Surgery is complex and long, but it can be rectified. It is clear that IF hiatal hernia is a cause and requires surgery, you need a specialist surgeon. Many times after a surgeon fixes the problem who isn't experienced much in that field, it fails.
Avatar m tn Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar n tn Also, my lower esophagus pressure is very low, its a 5 and needs to be at least an 8 to keep food down so I am going to have the hiatal hernia removed and my esophagus tightened. What should I expect after the surgery as far as pain and the recovery time? Is it possible that the wrap will help my condition the first time?
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Mom is 86 with big, long term hiatal hernia, shortened esophagus, chronic reflux, etc. Surgery NG. No changes, just scar. Last few years, food gets stuck, takes some time to clear, chest pain, you know the drill, clears with a burp, occasionally need emergency room. Two questions; Is there anything that can signal the LES to open in this case to let food down? She's on Nexium and famotidine currently for about a month but the reflux and throat-mouth burn won't stop.
Avatar f tn Having hiatal hernia (Nissen) surgery in a few days. My questions are : How soon would it be safe to climb stairs? When can I resume exercising? Some say that sit ups would strengthen the abdomen. Is that true? if so when should I start that? Reading the blog, most people are complaining about not being able to eat. Is this a normal? Would it be better to do a liquid diet for awhile? If so, How long should it be?
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar f tn I had surgery months back (10/2015) to repair a hernia under my belly button as well as to close a small hole on the inner wall of my belly button. Now i dont have any pain, the incission looks like it healed properly but about 2-3 weeks after the surgery i started getting nauseated. It started out just when i was really hungry or over ate just a bit. It has gotten to the point now (the last 2 months) that no matter what i do i am nauseated.
