Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Hi , I had a hiatus hernia ( sliding) and am in recovery (4th month) after key hole surgery for repair to the hernia. I had the hiatus hernia for the 10 years and suffered all of your mentioned symptoms. It got to the point where I was getting hard stomach pains ( felt like I was punched in the stomach) and felt like I wanted to vomit. I took over my life and I was afraid of eating so many foods.
just watch,,i know you mentioned its small,but if you ever experience prolonged pressure,or pain in any way,have it checked quickly,as you could get what they call a strangulated hernia,where the stomach actualy gets up in the hernia,and gets stuck,and pinched in there,and this can cause that part of the stomach to loose blood and get infection,and cause all kinds of problems to you,,,very serious illness can result.
So a couple of weeks ago I found out that I have a hernia and the pain comes and goes. But it has recently come back. My issue is that it isn't in the same spot as before its more to the right as if it has moved or stretched. Is this possible. Normally it's just my belly button but now it's to the right of my belly button and it's a bigger section of my stomach. I'm not sure what to do.
Chrismas day (last year) I ended up in ER thinking I was having a heart attack and found that I had vomited so hard that the hernia pulled the rest of my stomach into my chest cavity. I continued to vomit up till the day of my surgery. After this type of surgery you can NO LONGER vomit....ever. Hoped it was the problem and fixed, several weeks after my surgery I began to have the most unbearable paid in my stomach and have figured out that it is my body wanting to throw up and I can't.
Over the last 6 years I have had two hernias repaired, both located between the breast bone and the belly button. Lately I have been having severe stomach pain that was diagnosed as slow digesting stomach, also diagnosed with colonic inertia. When I rub the hernia scar (they went through the scam scar the second time) it is so hard. Just wondering if scar tissue could be causing some pushing into the stomach or could it be another hernia?
Has anyone gotten the bubbly gurgling feeling in their stomach after eating or drinking anything? I'm wondering what is causing this. I already have plans to have my gb removed due to stones, but I am asking because the surgeon and other docs feel there is something more going on, as my labs and symptoms/location of pain seem to indicate. Pancreas is likely involved and I do have a hiatal hernia. White blood cells & pancreatic enzymes are elevated.
Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....

I used to have extreme pain in the left lower abdomen area (groin area), which was the result of a hernia. I had surgery in July and that took all the pain away. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the same exact pain came back. For the past few days, Ive had extreme sharp pain in the same area. I went to the surgeon who fixed my hernia, and she proclaimed that "there is no way the pain is from the hernia".
I intend on seeing a doctor today for pain in my upper stomach/ chest area and for esophagus discomfort. I initially thought I had pulled muscles in that area. I started hatha yoga at least 2 months ago and there is a posture that is done called the 'bundhas'. Its where you have exhaled all breath and then pull in and lift the stomach muscles, lifting the diaphragm and them pulling the chest muscles in also, holding for some seconds and then releasing the breath.
My doctor told me that no surgery is needed, but my symptoms continue to get worse. I cough, belch, and suffer chest pain on a daily basis. Medicine rarely helps my condition. My question to you is: do you suggest that i have surgery to repair my hernia? My doctor does not believe surgery is necessary and i trust him, but i am in discomfort every day. Do you think surgery will help me?
i have a continuos pain in my stomach, last year i had similar pain but after being diagonised hypothyroid i started taking medicines and the pain went away this year again the pain started and after the thyroid medicine was adjusted the pain went away now after about a month the pain has come back i do not know what to do, i have been checked by a gastrologist who says every thing is okay,

I had a C - Section 2 years ago and an operation to repair an umbilical hernia a year ago. The wall of my stomach has a four finger gap and the hernia is back. I've been told their is little point in having surgery again yet - as Im still carrying my child a lot. What exercises can I do to help maybe close the gap? I am fairly active and have recently started a bit of yoga again, but Im conscious of maybe doing more harm than good.
The doctors thought it was a hernia, but i had a hernia repair surgery only to find out there was no hernia. When i need to use the restroom, there is more pain, but usually it just feels uncomfortable, like there is a mass of something there that shouldn't be. It doesn't hurt more when i work out or if i eat something specific, a certain time of night or anything else; the pain and discomfort seem random to me.
Usually there may be some distinqushing differences between hiatal hernia pain and angina pectoris. HH is not likely to occur while sitting or standing, and often only appears when either lying down or leaning foward after a heavy meal. My in-law had both HH and angina and that was his experience. And stable angina occurs when there is a reduction of oxygenated blood to heart cells...usually with physical or mental stress.
