Avatar n tn Hi aliparkone, If she has undergone a laparoscopic surgery, the recovery time is faster. She can go home in 2-3 days. She might have pain at the surgery site for which pain killers can be taken.Generally a semi-solid diet is presribed from the 2nd or 3rd day during the first week. If the semi-solid diet is tolerated well, then other foods can be slowly introduced. This usually takes 2-3 weeks.Complete recovery takes 2-3 weeks.
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
433485 tn?1321813390 I have not had the operation, and I looked to see if we had a forum for folks with hernias, but, it looks like we don't. I would do a google search on umbilical hernias and surgery, you should hopefully be able to find something that will be helpful. Sorry that I can not help you more.
Avatar f tn My doctor suspects I have a hernia, a complication from having a large cyst, ovary and tube removed in May. I will need surgery to repair. Anyone else experience this? I'd appreciate your experiences and thoughts on recovery time, when I can return to work (I'm a preschool teacher), length of surgery, etc. Thanks!
454221 tn?1259445739 Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.
478868 tn?1209031705 Hi Gail, As a nurse in the recovery room, I see incisional hernias all the time. The hernia develops from a weakness in the wall of the muscle that was cut for your original surgery. Alot of times if it is bothersome or large enough, they will take you back to surgery, may place some mesh against the muscle to reinforce it and it can be day surgery. Most can do it laparoscopically, so less recovery time in the hospital.
202436 tn?1326474333 ( I have had hernia repair surgery but not that kind so I have know clue on recovery time and what not:( I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!!
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. This link may be helpful: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/inguinalhernia/#diagnosis Take care and best regards.
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar f tn I am to have decompression surgery on Tuesday. General advice as to what to expect during recovery time? My NS said a minimum of a month of no driving, anything, so I am hoping this will help aid in my recovery. I only have a 5mm prolapse, but very high symptomatically. I was given a 50/50 chance of good outcome. I have nothing but time to lose. What is your opinion??
329994 tn?1301663248 I tried to eat solid food and that has not set well on my stomach, very nauseous, so I am gone back to drinking Boost, eating soup, soft foods and that sets better on my stomach, but does not produce a bowel movement. Is this normal after surgery and will it just take more time. I also have a hiatel hernia and take Prilosec 20mg/day. Thank you for any help.
Avatar n tn Also, my lower esophagus pressure is very low, its a 5 and needs to be at least an 8 to keep food down so I am going to have the hiatal hernia removed and my esophagus tightened. What should I expect after the surgery as far as pain and the recovery time? Is it possible that the wrap will help my condition the first time?
Avatar f tn I had mild, intermittent pain for a long time - probably over a year - after my surgery for an ovarian cyst. But my gynecologist also removed more than he should have (all my sex organs versus just the cyst or the one ovary). That pain finally subsided but I now have a different type of pain and other issues as a result of the loss of my uterus as well as surgical menopause. Scar tissue can cause pain which tends to be a pulling type sensation.
Avatar n tn In September of 2010 I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder. I had severe Right upper quadrant pain which radiated to my side and back. My recovery period of 6 weeks wasn't bad, I still had pain but thought it was from surgery as the doc said I had a lot of adhesions. At the end of two hours in surgery the doc had to call in a second surgeon, it took them four and 1/2 hours to complete the surgery. I woke up crying in pain and it continues.
Avatar f tn I'm still recovering from emergency abdominal surgery. I'm so thankful I don't feel any of the pain I felt previously. What I do feel is my little peanut. He is so active. I really believe that hernia surgery helped him to have more room. I'm so thankful for every little kick even if it is at 5 am. Well I'm off work for two weeks so he can kick all he wants. I love him so much.
Avatar f tn Take him back to the vet and let the vet see the recurrance of the hernia. Most of the time hernias are not operated on unless they are quite large, so there must have been a reason they decided to repair it. I wouldn't let it go. I would at least call the vet and tell him what happened and let him advise you on what to do.
926462 tn?1284819011 s the recovery time on this kind of surgery? I will google it and check it out..i really appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, A bit of background...I have a 7-8cm cyst on my left ovary. CA125 of 10, ultrasound shows no sign of a malignancy, so they are not too concerned about that. Dr. I was seeing wasn't confident in doing a cyst this size laparoscopically so he referred me to another Dr who is apparently an "expert" in removing large cysts like this by "bagging" it and removing it that way through the tiny incision instead of having open surgery.
Avatar f tn I had surgery recently where I had a cyst removed through laboscrophy of my ovary on the left side. but recently I've been having sharp pains in my belly button usually when i'm hungary but sometimes when I'm not sometimes it gets sooooo bad I have to take pain killers cause i can barely move.
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar m tn (back pain, testicle pain, groin pain, what seems like butt muscle pain especially when you sit for a while, bend over, or warm up before the game, all associated with the same side of the body usually), let me guess, when you play soccer/football you are right footed : ) ? my advise see a hernia specialist as soon as possible because it could get serious....
Avatar f tn Lifting that first week after surgery is usually really restricted to help aid recovery and impede complications. While my gut says 10 pounds or under should be okay for a brief minute lifting of a laptop . . . I'm not an expert. I do think so anyway. If you continue to have pain, then call your doctor without delay. And follow your physician's instructions from now on to a T.
